Active Duty Or Reserve

Active duty or reserve?

no offense, but the active duty combatants are the ones who get the real respect. not the reservests. i was strongly advised by my recruiters for the marines to be a reservest and i said no. no. no. no and *** NO

Can you change from Active Duty to Reserves while in the US Marines DEP?

Yes, You can just ask if you should provide a good reason, also you can get out of the DEP contract, ive done it twice, the Navy and The Marines, I did join the Army though. Just dont let them push you around, tell you recruiter you plan on finishing school and you must have it change or you will not ship. They can say all they want but it is bullshit, my marine recruiter agreed he hated the MArines and two months after I dropped them he got out. So tell them what you wnat if they say no then leae em, they cant do anything and if you wanna come back go to another component. They will keeep in there system for a while up to a year so once they remove you from their inactive reserve list(DEP) another recruiter can work with you as long as its not the marines, they require a letter of approval once you drop from their DEP and it is a beech to get one.

Can I switch from active duty to reserves after MEPS, and before basic training.?

Have you sworn into DEP yet? If not, then yes, it's a simple matter of contacting your recruiter. If you have already sworn in...then it's a bit more complicated. You will still need to speak with your recruiter and let him/her know that you don't want to go active. At that point, he/she may tell you one of two things. You either can switch to Reserves or you can't. If you can, then it will happen...if you can't, then you'll need to make the decision as to whether or not you want to go active or not. You can drop out of DEP at anytime without getting into any trouble....you'll just probably not have the Air Force as an option anytime in the future.

As to the question about making 100k in 6 years....not bloody likely. Look at the pay chart here and you can figure it out. http://www.navycs.com/2013-military-pay-...

Military pay active duty and reserves?

starting active is 1400 a month, starting reserves is 300 a month. if your going to do it go active you will like it better.

Can i switch from active duty to reserves while still in navy dep?

I just realized that i made a huge mistake at meps when i signed that contract which is for 5 years as an AO
I would rather do reserves so i can just finish the few years i have left of college to get the career i want, but i also want to have a few years of military experience
I dont wanna go to my recruter first because i dont wanna get him mad so i thought i should ask u fellow yahoo answer people
Can i changed my contract from active to reserve while in dep?
Or do i have to quit then re-enter??
Plz help!! I ship out in a month im really regreting signing that contract

Is there a difference between reserve and active duty pay?

Reservists get paid a fraction of Active Duty personnel, depending on how many days they work in a month.A good comparison is in the Drill Pay chart at the link below.Page on www.dfas.mil

How can a soldier switch from active duty to reserves?

After you fulfill your 1st active duty enlistment you'll automatically be assigned to the Individual Ready Reserve or IRR. It's like being in the reserves or national guard without the meetings and paychecks. If you're ETS ing you probably don't want to talk to the reserves or national guard rep any more than the reenlistment NCO. But after you get home and start missing the military a little bit and there are substantial benefits for you and your family. You found a recruiter once you can find one again. Depending on your original scores you can possibly change to a mos that will help you more in your civilian career. Obviously running through the woods with a machine gun killing people has a lot more appeal as a single 18 year old man. Than it does when you're 30 with a wife car payments, children and a mortgage. Civilian job experience and education are other ways to avoid spending the next 30 years down at the armory as a grunt. Hell become an armorer you get to play with the guns any time you want then. Even finance units and drone operators have weapons issued. They probably just don't where they are.

Can i switch from army active duty to reserves before i leave for basic training?

I agree with both responses before mine. I suggest you ask your recruiter regarding your request. If you have signed your Enlistment Contract, you have etched your signature in stone. You won't be leaving your life "behind you." In fact, it may be the best move for yourself. The military is a wonderful, growing experience with much opportunity for future education, available financial grants, and you will be given many chances in life because of your service. Either way you go, best of luck and thanks for serving the country.
