okay well first, im not looking to just get my hands on meds to abuse them. I'm just wondering if the symptoms I'm describing sound like what could be adhd or just being lazy? During high school I tried to talk to my grandma about going to talk to a doctor about it but she just said no that i just need to apply. which is also very possibly true. its just sometimes during class or while trying to study. I will be focusing on what im reading or writing, then as time passes i'll notice that I still read the words but literally could not tell you one thing I just read or wrote down. I start out fine then after a while I feel like I just stop actually taking in the information and just kind of go through the motions, same thing happens with reading. During class when im paying attention to the lecture, a certain thing will cause me to think about something irrelevant then before I know it, 5 or 10 minutes have passed and I basically feel like I wasn't even there. I have tried Adderall and Concerta before from friends that have prescriptions and I feel like they just make me stay on track and slipping off in day dreaming land isnt as easy to do. My mom went in and out of being locked up my whole life because of crack so believe me, I know first hand what drugs can do to you and your brain. I'm not trying to get a prescription or anything so I can sell them or get ****** up all the time. Just wondering if maybe they can actually help or if I'm really just being lazy and it's something I can fix over time with just making myself pay attention(which works for a little while then seems to just fade away) any insight on if I could possibly have ADHD? or ADD? not really sure how they go about testing people to see if they have it or not. I not extraordinarily hyper or anything. just have trouble keeping myself on task and focused on one thing without thinking about 90 different things.

I have an appointment with my doctor to try to get an adderall prescription. I'm not positive that I have ADD but I know I have trouble staying inactive for long periods of time and it's really difficult for me to do homework or study. I have taken adderall a few times before in 20 and 30 mg doses and it was extremely helpful I got a lot more work done and it was more quality work then ever before. Also I'm not looking to get it for constant use only when I need large amounts of work done and my mom will be in control of when I take it. Thnx for the help!

I should also tell you that I take several other medications to treat my Bi-Polar Disorder which may also have an effect on how well mine works for me as well. If you try the Adderall XR and it still doesn't seem to help you out much, then you may want to talk to your doctor about trying one of the other medications to treat ADHD in adults. There are actually several different ones available, but a lot of doctors like to try the Adderall first since it is the one with the quickest and most noticible results. Of course no two people respond to medications the same way, so the next medication you try might not help you the same as it would effect someone else you know who takes it either. It's kind of a guessing game for a while. It took me almost two years until my doctor and I found the right combination of drugs to treat my Bi-Polar and now she is a little iffy about adding and subtracting anything at all, she prefers to adjust dosages and that's all. If I were you, I would call around and see if someone will work with you. Most businesses(especially in this field) will understand and do all they can to help you get the treatment you need. As far as myself. I suffer from Anxiety and Depression. I'm also being treated for PTSD(Post Traumatic Stress Disorder). Right now I'm currently not taking any medication, because I'm trying to find the right one. However, when I was on meds, I was taking a generic for lexapo and it worked fairly well to stabilize my mood. I just want something stronger for my anxiety. Well, sorry this was sooo long.
