Adobe Photoshop And After Effects Video Editing

Intel Core 2 Quad - Photoshop, After Effects?

You can go for it, I use autodesk maya 2012 student, photoshop cs5,ae cs5 in my moms laptop @i3 2.2 ghz with 4 gb ram, they run good.

I know final cut pro and adobe photoshop but not after effects, could I get online projects in video editing?

You are likely to get anything related to photoshop but getting online video editing work is still in its infancy. This is because of its high reliance on feedback and collaboration. Photoshop related works can really take feedbacks online. However knowing after effects can certainly add to the skills of a video editor and consequently more online work.

Why would/should I use Photoshop for video editing rather than any other editor?

You would use Photoshop because it is what you already have and what you already know how to use.Photoshop has limited video editing capabilities but more so, it is an effective toe-in-the-water start out replacement for After Effects which is a motion graphics editor. It’s therefore much easier to make the comparison against After Effects than something like Premiere Pro or FCP.After Effects is a much more robust application that, for production use with someone who knows how to use it, is far better at what it does than Photoshop but it comes with a fairly steep learning curve for anyone just starting our and doing a small project that doesn't need it all. Also, you can pick Photoshop up on subscription with Lightroom for $10 a month where you’re going to pay $20 a month for After Effects and, frankly if you’re working at the level that After Effects makes sense, you're going to want to be using Photoshop and Illustrator along with it.That’ll set you back $50 a month.Again, you’d go with Photoshop because it’s what you have and know how to use. That was originally why Adobe added the video features it added - a lot of Photogrophers don't have or know how to use Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Speedgrade.

When is it better to use Photoshop for video instead of After Effects or Premiere?

One specific use for Photoshop with video – and one that I believe can’t be done with After Effects or Premiere – is when you want to convert a short video clip into an animated .gif, and scaling it down in size at the same time. Photoshop is great for that. This includes the relatively new “cool technique” of cinemagraphs – where the image is mostly still but some portion of it is in motion, and looped. (But I emphasize: short video clip. Not so much because of any Photoshop limitations but rather the practical limitations of the .gif format and file size considerations for delivering on the web.)

What are the advantages and disadvantages of having Adobe After Effects?

First of all you have to know that After Effects is not an editing video software. It's only for making motion graphics, animation etc, and it's very good at that.
The Advantages are many enough to make you want to have it. But a great disadvantage is that it's not interacting good with sound. Other than that it's a great software.

(*Advise: If you are going to buy it, wait till April because CS5 is coming out)

What is Adobe After Effects?

a program by adobe that you can use to stabilize footage edit the footage or add special effects to it

my friend uses it and so does lucas arts and other film companies (aparently)

Is it necessary to master Adobe-Photoshop before learning Adobe After Effects?

No, Basics of Photoshop is adequate to work in After effects tool.If the nature of your work is very foundational like raw video editing then mastering Photoshop is recemomded as it gives you an edge in certain hygiene factors like light, colors, contrast etc.

There are Photoshop and Lightroom for photo editing and after effects for video editing. Can anyone tell if there are Adobe softwares for audio?

Adobe Audition (formerly Cool Edit Pro) is a digital audio workstation from Adobe Systems featuring both a multitrack, non-destructive mix/edit environment and a destructive-approach waveform editing view.

Is Adobe After Effects worth the cost? Why or why not?

It depends on whether you get just After Effects or the full Creative Cloud subscription. Just After Effects would be $19.99 a month, the "all apps" subscription is $49.99 a month. Both plans are subject to local taxes. Those prices are also for a yearly commitment - you can subscribe to the all apps plan month-to-month, but the price goes up to $74.99 a month. If you're a student, you can get the first year of the all apps plan at $19.99 a month.Personally, I think the full all apps CC is the only way to go - it gives you enough tools to deal with pretty much any situation you run into, and the tools are designed to integrate with each other. The best example of this is how After Effects projects can be directly loaded into a Premiere Pro sequence, which allows you to make changes and adjustments without having to re-render every time.Of course, whether your usage justifies the price will depend on your income - if you're not making money using the apps, then you might want to try some free alternatives instead. For After Effects, there's a decent alternative from Blackmagic called Fusion. It doesn't have the range of 3rd-party plugins that After Effects does, but it's a totally professional app that does a lot of what After Effects does.Blackmagic Design: Fusion Oh, and because you tagged "Video Editing", I should mention that After Effects is not really a video editing program, it's a motion graphics, visual effects and compositing program. Trying to edit a series of video clips together in After Effects is technically possible, but substantially more difficult than using a dedicated video editing program like Premiere Pro.

Which video editing app could I learn faster - Final Cut Pro or Adobe After Effects?

After Effects is an animation/video effects program. Using it as a video editor will be frustrating and terrible. So instead of answering your question I’ll give you these tips.Download Adobe Premiere If you have Adobe CC (You mention Photoshop/Illustrator, so this works if you have the full suite) Premiere will be freely available to you and is based off the same code as Final Cut back when it was a good editorUse lots of video tutorials Premiere is much harder to learn than iMovie or Vegas. It’ll be rather hard to teach yourself so don’t be afraid to do a lot of searching for the answer. Keep practicing. Learning Premiere teaches you more about the fundamentals of movie editing at a professional level than anything else in your toolkit.Learn After Effects too! In my opinion, adding fun effects is one of the best parts of post production. After I have an edit done that I’m totally happy with I send shots one at a time (using Dynamic Link) to AE and do my effects there. This way I’m using each program for what it’s best at.Learning Premiere and After Effects may seem daunting but overall it’s a lot of fun and they’re the best method of getting you to be able to get that perfect hollywood edit you’re looking for.
