I know final cut pro and adobe photoshop but not after effects, could I get online projects in video editing?
You are likely to get anything related to photoshop but getting online video editing work is still in its infancy. This is because of its high reliance on feedback and collaboration. One specific use for Photoshop with video – and one that I believe can’t be done with After Effects or Premiere – is when you want to convert a short video clip into an animated .gif, and scaling it down in size at the same time. Photoshop is great for that. This includes the relatively new “cool technique” of cinemagraphs – where the image is mostly still but some portion of it is in motion, and looped. (But I emphasize: short video clip. Not so much because of any Photoshop limitations but rather the practical limitations of the .gif format and file size considerations for delivering on the web.)

First of all you have to know that After Effects is not an editing video software. It's only for making motion graphics, animation etc, and it's very good at that. The Advantages are many enough to make you want to have it. But a great disadvantage is that it's not interacting good with sound. Other than that it's a great software. (*Advise: If you are going to buy it, wait till April because CS5 is coming out)
