Advice for an incoming freshman girl? (High School)?

I will be entering high school this fall, coming from a small private school will about forty kids in my class to a Catholic school with 200. I don't know a single person who will be going there this fall, this makes me really nervous about finding friends. Because most of them went to the same middle schools and already have good friends. I will be attending summer school there, I know I will meet some people there. I tend to be a very shy person when I first meet people but not after I know them. I always have issues introducing my self to people and never have good conversation starters so any tips on that would be really helpful. Also the school is EXTREMELY academic and I do ballet and cross country any tips on how to keep up with school would be great and also boys. I tend to be a huge flirt and im worried about upsetting people because of it. So basicaly anything would help!
Thank You soo much <3

Advice for incoming high school freshman?

How much harder do academics get from 8th grade? Will it be easy to make new friends? (even though I'll be with people from my middle school) Is there a crazy amount of drama? I would really love these questions answered, along with your high school experience or advice.

Highschool freshman advice?

Your questions are hard to answer without knowing you or your school, but here goes.
-Should you use a locker? You should use it if you need it and if it is easily accessible. I never once used my locker in high school because it was out of the way and wouldn't make sense to go to. If you have too many books to carry though, you should.
-Should you wear makeup or not? You should do what makes you feel comfortable and beautiful. If you feel more confident not wearing makeup (or wearing it) then go ahead, as long as it's appropriate. The best makeup look is natural, so try not to over do it.
-Reinvent yourself or not? Again, do what makes YOU feel the most confident. Never be someone who you aren't, it won't make people (or yourself) respect you. Just be who you are naturally and the people who like THAT you are the people you want in your life.
-Tote bag or backpack? This is another question that it is impossible to answer without knowing your booklist haha. If you have a lot of books, then you will need to use your locker if you go with the tote.
-Heels or no heels? I wouldn't call heels a 'smart' choice. They may look pretty, but they will make normal activities more difficult than usual and in the long run are bad for your foot and leg health. If you are great at walking in them and comfortable, do it, but if not they may end up being more of an embarrassment than a fashion statement.

I hope you have an amazing freshman year. It can be really tough, believe me, but if you stick with it you will graduate sooner than you can believe and you will look back at this and probably find your hesitation funny. One more thing: get good grades. Friends change and drift away during and after high school, but those grades will get you to where you want to be in life.
Have fun! :)

Highschool Freshman Advice?

1):High school does have social groups but unlike the stereotypes you have heard of they are not as pronounced, you aren't automatically labeled as a group.

2): Most of the members of upper grades are either indifferent to the freshman. You do have some that will go out of their way to help you find your class or whatever you need. They will not shove you into lockers or beat you up. That's merely a stereotype and I can assure you it rarely happens in a normal high school setting.

3): Most of the people at your new Highschool will be the same people from your middle school and elementary school. There will be new people you haven't met yet but for the most part they are familiar faces.
Just like in your middle schools and high schools there will be some people you think are attractive and there will be some you don't

4): Guys date the people they want to date, the "popular" cliques often dissapear in Highschool, and for the most part status doesn't mean anything.

As for any other advice: just relax, Highschool is a lot of fun but it can be hard work. Do what you need to do and get involved with clubs at your school. It gives you the opportunity to do something you enjoy and you meet new people along the way.

Don't over stress about Highschool, it's just like any other school, sure the classes are harder and the school is bigger. But the mean teachers and the over stereotyped cliques don't exist.

One last peice of advice: Do NOT throw away your old papers from the year, they come in handy when you are studying for midterms and finals. I made the mistake of throwing out my papers when we moved on to new units in my freshman year and I had a lot of trouble studying for midterms and finals without them.

Tips for incoming highschool freshman?

- Study Study Study, it's important to get into university or college, try new study techniques such as flashcards, and remember a highlighter is your best friend.

- To make friends, join a few clubs or groups that you might be interested in, that way, you can base friends around your interests. Don't worry if you don't make friends for a little while, just hang out with your friends from elementary or middle school and you will meet new friends. Just remember to keep academics first and don't get into too many clubs that you are struggling to find a balance, i think, 3 clubs / sports, MAX

- if you begin to struggle with academics take good use of tutoring (student success) or a guidance department, if you still continue to struggle, talk to your guidance department and drop down a level.

- if you are finding a course too easy, go up a level, you want to keep as many doors open as you can

- don't spread rumors, just think before you say stuff,

- make you're locker a cool design, that way when you arrive at school, at least you can find delight inside you're locker :)

- select courses YOU enjoy, don't just select them because your friend is taking them, you'll make new friends in them

- don't move in to you're friends or especially a boyfriends locker! if you break up or stop becoming friends , they might kick you out, and your locker might be given away to somebody else, and, sharing a locker, is not romantic,.

- pack a good lunch, cafeteria food is alright, but unhealthy, so pack some healthy food

- ignore rude people,

- don't walk around like you own the school on you're first day, older people hate that

Any advice for a freshman going into high school?

I cannot make the answer short so please take time to read. Afterall its matter of life ;-)Someone rightly said that when you are young, possibilities are limitless.Have a hard look at the below image and keep this in mind. You are in 1st stage where you have a lot of time and energy. You may or may not have lot of money. But even if you have it would be your parent's.My advice is to make full use of time while you can. Some points are :-Avoid wasting too much time on social media like fb, Instagram, etc. Quora is alright to find your area of interest.Do not procrastinate. Ever. Always follow the 5 minutes rule that if a work can be done in 5 or less minutes do it now.Now a days if you talk to anyone, they all will whine about lack of time. Truth is not the lack of time but the lack of time management. Divide your activities in 4 parts.Important + urgent = do it nowImportant + not urgent = plan and start giving sometime to it everyday otherwise one day it will become urgentNot important + urgent = can be set lower in priorityNot important + not urgent = do not waste time. If you avoid this then you will have surplus time everydayTodays era of WhatsApp demands you to be available all the time. Make a difference. Mute all group conversation.Sooner than later you will come to know about various tv series. While they are good stress buster but avoid binge watching unless you are done with all work. These covered time part. Now let's see what can be done on energy part.In high school who studies too much are termed as geek or nerd. So have some fun too. Make good memories but do not waste energy on worthless adventures.Practice some meditation daily. Yes, you will always be in flash mode but take a break a d have healthy food. Junk food can be tried but not too frequent.Find your passion or hobbies and when you get time, dedicate that time and energy in the passion rather than mindless surfing internet.Although you will not be having your money but still you do get pocket money if i am not wrong.Manage that as well. Since you will find yourself either short of money or just enough money, hence learning difference between the “price” and “value” is very important.Final lines, in youth, manage time and energy in such a way that when you become professional, you will be so efficient that you will never face problem of having less time. That's the key to a happy life.
