After A Student In Harvard School Of Law Complete Will He/she Find Work Easy

Which law school should I go to, William and Mary or Fordham?

I would go with Fordham simply because your options during the academic year will be much greater. Summer stuff isn't a big deal (law students from all over the country go to NYC for the summer - there's no benefit to being there during the year in terms of gaining summer employment) but the academic year is a good time to get jobs and internships that only recruit T14 for the summer.

Also, if you're planning on BigLaw I would highly, highly recommend you have a backup plan. Or three. The top firms simply do not recruit at Fordham or William and Mary. You can still get hired from those schools, but it's much, much harder. If you don't have a reasonable plan for paying back your loans if you're unemployed upon graduation, you do not belong in law school.

Is Rutgers School of Law (Newark, NJ) considered decent?

Rutgers is decent, but things to consider if you want to work in NYC is...NYC has a lot of law schools, some of which are ranked higher than Rutgers and have better reputations. Then there's the fact that seemingly everyone and their mama wants to work in NYC as a lawyer...including a lot of students from top 10 law schools, such as Michigan, Harvard, Yale, Duke, etc. Outside of these schools (and even sometimes despite being from some of these schools), many NYC legal employers seem to have a horrible bias for NYC schools, even if they *are* ranked lower. The good news is NYC appears to have the most legal jobs available and seem to hire more lawyers than any other area. But the thing that can be tricky is you'd have a *lot* of competition and would likely need really good grades (easier said than done) from Rutgers to have an easier time finding something in NYC. NJ, you'd probably be fine. But apply to some NYC schools, too, and consider going to one of them.

Is college a good investment these days?

A news article in Newsweek caught our attention and we wanted to ask our community the same question. Is college a good investment TODAY? Tuition is increasing every semester/year and a graduate may not be guaranteed a good job. So what do you think? Is it absolutely necessary to go to college today?

Can you get into law school with a 2.5 GPA?

Contrary to what the other guy said, studying to be a lawyer is easy. I didn't even break a sweat when I took the bar exam and passed it in one shot. CPA exam is a different story. I had to take it twice to pass it. Most CPAs are also lawyers because bar exam is nothing compared to CPA exams. But you should try to raise your GPA though, to at least 2.9. Reason why I am not practicing law with my law license is because I consider all lawyers as nothing but a scumbags. I took the bar exam just because it was easy. We don't need more scumbag lawyers. We need more doctors instead. You should study harder and become a doctor, that is if you are smart enough.

My girlfriend got into a tier 4 law school but they offered her a $90,000 scholarship at U of Baltimore should she take it?

No! All of these choices are terrible, your girlfriend should not attend law school. When considering law school, I recommend using the rule of 80/100.First, only attend a law school where 80% of the graduates find long term full time bar passage required work (LTFTBPR, i.e. work as a lawyer). If you are going to law school for a reason other than desiring to work as a lawyer, you do not need to go to law school. From LST Score Reports | University of Baltimore, Costs 55.1% of graduates found LTFTBPR work. The 80% rule fails. What is your girlfriend doing now? There are even odds she will be doing the same thing after law school.Second, only attend a law school if you can finish with less than $100k in debt. This turns on whether she is in state or out of state. If in state, she would probably finish around $90k in debt, which passes. If out of state, she would finish around $180k in debt, which fails. In either case the 80% rule fails, so don’t go.Turning to Minnesota, employment is much better at 74.2%, however the school is much too expensive. While the average debt is only $92k, your girlfriend would be among the 20% of students receiving no aid and on her way to $200k in debt. Indiana University at Bloomington is commonly called ooey-bluey, while 2/3 of students get good jobs, you’ll again, spend $200k to get them.None of these would be a good enough choice for me.Pass.
