After Septum Got Pierced In My Cartilage And My Cartilage Moves If I Move It Help

How do I convince my parents to let me get my cartilage pierced?

There is a question very similar in concept to this one that I answered a few days ago. I feel that it would pertain to this situation as well.Kendra Vogel's answer to My daughter wants a triple earlobe piercing, but I think that's trashy. How do I convince her?I'm not sure if the questions should be merged because it is a different question. Look through the other answers on the linked question; some of them bring up good points about why “trashy” isn't a valid argument to not get piercings.I would suggest pointing out how cartilage piercings are very low risk piercings; they may require extra care but don't need surgery to remove and typically don't cause extensive scarring (like many other piercings out there). Also, you can remove it if you need/want to. There will be a little dot left over from healing, but oftentimes you don't even notice it after it closes up. But remember that after a piercing heals there's scar tissue left in the place. Repiercing it hurts and can take longer to heal than the original one.If you come to a last resort, promise it's the last one you're going to beg them for. I did this for my 3rd lobe piercing on my left ear (I had 3 lobe and 1 cartilage on my right ear and 2 lobe on my left. I wanted to even it out). She made me promise that I was done with my ears being pierced, which I am. She probably thought it looked trashy but didn't say that to me. Getting a harmless piercing wasn't a huge deal, so she decided to compromise and therefore get me off her back about it.You could also make a list of “rules” like I mentioned. That way they know that you will do your best to take good care of it. And get a stud piercing, not a hoop. Plain, silver stud piercings are much “classier” looking to most people, including your parents. Make them see the good, and explain how the bad could be good for them (i.e. If it gets seriously infected you will take it out).Good luck!

How do you treat an infected cartilage piercing?

Do you know it's infected? What is your evidence for it? Chances are it is simply irritated and has healing difficulties rather than being infected.Infection in piercing is a truly dangerous thing but luckily it is very rare and ALWAYS has the same symptomsGreen plasma or pus around the site or dark black tissue (not just white or yellow- White and yellow pus is a normal thing)Extreme pain (like extreme not just itchiness or soreness)Discolouring of your skin from rashes to dark purple colour appearing around not just the site but expanding away from itIf you see these signs or symptoms then yes it is infected. Go to a hospital immediately as it is life threatening. If of course you don't see these signs (and as a professional of over 6 years I never ever have) you simply have irritation and you have either misdiagnosed infection or heard that diagnosis from a friend or a professional who doesn't appreciate body modification(this is so super common)So don't fear- go see your piercer and make sure you clean it using warm mild saline and nothing more! (Maybe change your earring too)

My septum is pierced through the cartilage is that ok?

Let me tell you it hurt like hell and I had violent sneezing fits afterward. My piercer said she doesn't pierce through the fleshy part of the septum because there is a higher chance of migration so you have to wear heavy jewelry 24/7 but I know most people have it pierced through the flesh not cartilage so I'm wondering if it's ok that mine is different? It looks good... :/ help?

My cartilage piercing isn't moving through the hole why?

I got my cartilage piercing done today with my friend and it's not moving I can move it back and forth but it won't move through the hole in my ear. My friends earring does but mine doesn't am I doing something wrong? I've cleaned it twice today and it moved a little bit once but other than that nothing has really happened. What should I do?

Septum piercing questions!?

okay i have been wanting to get my septum pierced and i was wondering
if it hurts on a scale of 0-10 and does it hurt to push up your nose
to hide it haha
i just basically want to no everything there is about a septum piercing
and your experience with it :)

thank you much :)

i also have my lip and belly botton pierced if that helps

Is my septum piercing too high?

2 days ago I got my septum pierced, but I think the piercing may be too high. If I move it I can feel it touching my cartilage. Also, after I've just cleaned it, it moves around a bit in there and can move around with certain facial movements. For instance, if I make a big cheesy smile, the ring will move up and lay flat against the top of the nose. I'm assuming because it's pushing against the cartilage.

I got it done by a "Professional" although I'm obviously starting to question that now. Would it be best to take it out, let it heal and spend a little extra to have it done by a better professional?

Thanks!

Walk me through self-septum piercing steps?

I did mine myself too.

Your going to need a septum forcep clamp but if you dont have one you'll be ok.

1. find the sweet spot between your cartilage in your nose by pulling down the thick piece of cartilage at the bottom and feeling the skin.
2. keep that spot in line and line up the needle where you want the hole.
3. push firmly but carefully until the needle is completely through
4. insert the ring and push until the ring is in and the needle is full out of your nose.

Question answers:
1. Clean with some rubbing alcohol or hydrogen peroxide.
2. Clean the jewelry with hydrogen peroxide and then rinse it with warm water.
3. To make sure it goes straight I'd get the forcep clamps but without them try your best not to move and while your doing it but a finger on the other side to feel the needle going through levelly (you might poke yourself but its better than a crooked ring)
4. Around the middle, if you pierce to low it will look too much like a bull ring and you wont be able to flip it up. Too high and the jewelry will be uncomfortable. or find the spot that you like the most.
5. They help help the piercing straight and they also make it quicker because when your skin is clamped it stretches less and that makes the penetration and exist a lot quicker.
6. After piercing clean with a q tip dipped in warm salt water and hold it against the holes of the ring to soften crust and reduce swelling. After the crust is soft use a clean qtip to wipe it away and dry the jewelry.

Is it safe to get multiple cartilage piercings in one session?

Most of the times, there's no harm in getting multiple pierces in one session. An 'industrial piercing' for example, is always done in one session, and it's essentially an overgrown barbell that's put through the forward- AND regular helix. As a general rule, most 'experienced' pierced individuals tend to set a maximum for themselves, eg no more than 2, since having multiple fresh piercings at the same time tends to stress the body a little more.Obviously, you have to take proper care of the piercings (if you can't properly take care of one piercing, then having multiple of them is just waiting for disaster to happen). And sometimes, piercings get infected no matter what you do (spectacular bad luck).

How painful is a septum piercing?

I just had mine done. I had read a lot on the subject and I found out that it hurts when you get your cartilage pierced. However, the septum should be pierced in something they call "the sweet spot". This is a thin layer of skin between the tip of your nose and your cartilage. When I decided to get my septum pierced, I made sure the piercer would check for my sweet spot (as I learned, not everyone has it) and she found it, saying I had the best septum for piercing. I really wanted this piercing but I am extremely sensitive to pain. And I told her I had researched as much as I could about this. I was really scared she would make any of the mistakes I found all over youtube. She was super professional. Before I go on talking about the pain, let me just tell you that I found out some videos like this one, in which people complain about some numbness in their faces, some headache, etc. I read that this happens when you hit the cartilage. But I know that each one of us reacts in different ways to pain. I'm not sure if it's supposed to feel like that. But I'm not a piercer. So, what did I feel?First of all, I felt a huge discomfort while she was pushing the clamp. She said she was making sure she had the sweet spot, so she pulled my nose a lot, I was feeling like she was turning it inside out. Then she explained that she was about to pierce. I was already feeling so much pressure, that the needle didn't hurt me much more. I would say it hurt 2/10. And the amazing thing is that as soon as she was over, it didn't hurt at all. I was feeling the ring, felt a tiny bit of burning while she was cleaning, but I was surprised at the fact that it wasn't feeling sore. I went home, cleaned it, and four days have passed. Although I'm careful with it, it still doesn't hurt, it just burns when I clean it in the morning. I even blew my nose already (soflty of course).Ok, maybe I just got lucky with my anatomy, but I wish everyone would have a similar experience. If you're planning on getting one, please do your homework and get yourself a good professional.

Is it healthy/okay to clean my new septum piercing with Claire's ear care solution?

After getting home from having my septum pierced I was wondering about my aftercare options. I know that a sea salt and water mixture is a good way to go, but I have a bunch of Claire's Benzalkonium Chloride based ear piercing cleaner left from when I got my ears pierced a few months ago. I know it says "ear care solution", but since the septum IS a skin piercing and not cartilage I was hoping I could get someone with experience's (preferably a piercer's) advice on whether or not it's safe to use on my septum.
