I do agree, The first ever language we learn in our infancy is mostly from our surroundings or parents and is usually our native language.We become attached to it since it’s our primary tool to communicate with fellow humans and acts as a means of survival. But when we learn other new languages we don’t learn it for survival but for development or accommodating in a new environment and hence the sense of belonging is not present.So although we may understand several languages that one language that we learnt in the childhood remains the one close to heart and is the preferred choice wherever possible.
