Algebra 1. If Your Good At Math Help

So, who's good at math? Algebra 1.?

A few questions, I can't get them, help ?

1. The weight needed to balance a lever varies inversely with the distance from the fulcrum. A 50-lb weight is placed 4 ft from a fulcrum. What weight should you put 5 ft from the fulcrum to balance the lever?

2. The area formula for a parallelogram with area 36 is bh = 36. Does the formula represent a direct or an inverse variation? Explain.

3. Does the data in the table represent a direct or an inverse variation?
Write an equation to model the data.

Data-
x 10 20 30 40 50

That's it, any help at all with ANY question is good. Thank you guys so much.!

Is it good if you take Algebra 1 in 8th grade?

Yes it is good to take Algebra in 8th grade. When i was a 8th grader, i had no idea what i was doing so i switched out of it. If you want to be ahead of other classmates in 9th grade i suggest you do.

Pre-Algebra, Math, Algebra 1?

I used to live in the suburbs and of course their education is far more better than the city. When I was in the suburbs I was taking Pre-Algebra but when I moved they just put me in regular math. Now next year I'm going to take Pre-Algebra and in high school I'm goin to take Algebra 1. When really I'm supposed to take Algebra 1 next year and something else in high school. What should I do to get into Algebra 1 next year????

How can I learn algebra when I'm not very good at math?

I have compiled a AlgebraI concept book from my notes of tutoring students. It is now available on Amazon.com. It is a valuable resource for learning and revising all topics in Algebra1. Useful for Staar and EOC exams. Thanks for your support. If you know anyone who may benefit. Here is the link. https://www.amazon.com/dp/069283...

ALGEBRA 1 math problem. if ur good at math, please help mee!!!!?

It seems that they sold 150 packages last year.

R = (5+n)(150 - 10n) means
Revenue = (price)(units)
price is 5 + n if they increase by n above previous price of 5 and
(150 - 10n) is last year's sales - 10 lost sales per dollar increase

If we expand (5+n)(150-10n) we get
750 -50n +150n -10n^2 or
R = 750 +100 n - 10n^2 ( answer to part a) )

Finding the maximum suggests using the derivative, which is not exactly Algebra 1, but here goes:
derivative = 100 -20n
that = 0 if n = 5

So we would have a price of $10/package (part c) )

and maximum revenue R = 10 (150 - 50) = 10 x 100 = $1000. (part b) )

Those are the answers. Here is some discussion.

Looking at some other values:
Last year, n was 0, so Revenue was 5 x 150 = 750
If look at n = 4, we would have 9 (150 - 40) = 9 x 110 = 990 (which is < 1000)
For n = 6, we would have 11 (150 - 60) = 11 x 90 = 990.
Those few data points suggest that the maximum is indeed at n = 5 for a price of $10/package.

Another way to look at it is:

R = 750 + 100n - 10 n^2
The part that varies is "100 n - 10n^2" which
equals 10 n ( 10 - n )
Again factoring out a constant, we have n (10 - n) to consider. If we maximize that, we also maximize 10 times it and when 750 is added.

Generally, the maximum value of a product occurs when the factors are closest (or equal).

n and 10 - n are equal when n = 5.
Otherwise if we increase n, 10 - n goes down and vice versa. In either case, the product is lowered.

I need math help!! algebra 1 please!!?

You have to look at each variable (letter) individually.
xy2p5 vs. y2xp5
Look at the x's, are they raised to the same power? Yes, in both polynomials x is to the 1st power.
Look at the y's, are they raised to the same power?
Yes, in both polynomials, y is raised to the 2nd power.
Finally, look at the p's, are they raised to the same power?
Yes, in both polynomials, p is to the 5th power.
The order of the variables is unimportant. xy²z = y²zx.

My son is doing this right now in algebra. Look below for a really good example of the concept you are asking about.

Simplify each polynomial, then a) find the sum, b) find the product.
(2x)³(xy)² = (2x)(2x)(2x)(xy)(xy) = 8x³(x²y²) = 8x^5y²
(2xy)²(-x)³ = (2xy)(2xy)(-x)(-x)(-x) = 4x²y² (-x)³ = -4x^5y²
a) sum: add 8x^5y² + (-4x^5y²) = 8x^5y² - 4x^5y² =
4x^5y² (sum)

In the first polynomial, 8x^5y², x is to the 5th power and y is to the 2nd power. In the second polynomial,
-4x^5y², x is to the 5th power and y is to the 2nd power. Because the powers on both variables are the same, when you find the sum you are only looking at 8 - 4. The (x^5y²) can be treated the same way that you would treat an "x". It's the same as if you were looking for the sum of 8x + (-4x) or
8x - 4x = 4x

b) product
When you multiply with exponents, the exponents are added
(8x^5y²)(-4x^5y²) = - 32 x^10y^4 (product)
Because (8)(-4) = -32
(x^5)(x^5) = x^10
(y²)(y²) = y^4

I hope you understand how to identify "like" terms ... maybe you will also understand how to find the sums and products (and deal with exponents) as well ... you will know more than your classmates!

Is algebra 1 hard in 9th grade ?

if you took pre-algebra, then it's going to be a cinch for you.
you'll just cover the basic stuff first once more, and gradually it's going to get more complicated.

the processes will get longer and more complex,
but if you master the easy stuff, you'll be able to do the rest.
just pay attention to the teacher at all times and take lots of notes on your notebook.

also pay attention to the instructions and the requirements the teacher is giving you!

algebra 2 is much harder, so don't worry by now :)

Were you good at math up until pre-algebra but once you got to algebra-1 you struggled?

It was the opposite for me. Around the time of middle school algebra I got an early programmable calculator TI-59 / TI-58 - Wikipedia . This device allowed to record and the play-back of key-strokes in order to repeat calculations and to use a small set of memory registers as variables. Playing with this “toy” brought school algebra alive and made the concept of manipulating variables and planning out computation steps in an systematic way concrete.From my own experience I believe teaching kids to program should as a side benefit also help with understanding of algebra. These days graphical programming interfaces like Scratch - Imagine, Program, Share seem to be most popular, however I wonder if it would not be better to directly teach text based interfaces that don’t hide the abstractions behind the shiny graphics.

If I fail Algebra 1 in 8th grade will i be held back?

No, I'm doing algebra in 7nth Grade and I will be going to Geometry next year, Some of my friends failed so they have to redo the course in 9nth grade. Because you are doing a higher level of math you cannot be held back for not exceeding expectations.It's okay lots of kids do that every year

Is Algebra 1 hard for a 7th grader?

I am 13 and going into 7th grade. If I stay in the school I am now, there is a change I might be taking algebra 1 next year. I took an algebra test today and it was fairly easy accept for the graphing portion. But the test was fairly easy. But the equations were the easiest. After the test, my math teacher talked to me about the test. He asked me if I wanted to take algebra 1 next year. I said yes because I want high school credits so I wont have to take math so many years in high school and I don't like the regular math class program. He told me that he firmly believes that I have every ability to get into algebra 1 because I have done well all year in the regular math class and I have the thinking . And this is what I don't like, in my town, we don't have a algebra class. SO the only algebra I have is the little i got from first grade until now. I think that is why this test was really hard for most people and some of it was hard for me because this wasn't testing you for algebra but algebra 1. Now I might move to another town over the summer. And if I do, I wil have one more year of regular math and then in 8th grade I will have algebra which isn't of the reason why I want to move to this town because their schools have a much better curriculum for all subjects. But if worst comes to worse and I am staying in the town I ma currently living in and I get into algebra 1, what is algebra 1 class like? On the Scale of 1 to ten how hard ten being the hardest? and what do you learn?
