How do you find time to read everything?

How do I find time to read everything I want and need to read?Quick answer? Time-planning. Even quicker answer? SmartphoneI work as a medical researcher and an academic writer which means I read a lot, and I mean a lot. Everyday, I have to surf through tens of complex research papers and pick out points, methods, and ideas that suits whatever it is I’m working on, and this is not easy. I won’t go into details about how I deal with readings related to my work, but I’ll tell you how I deal with other readings.Everyday I read Quora, Scriptures (Bible, Book of Mormon, and other religious material), Comedy book, scientific book, work related articles. This is how and where I read them.Quora - On the toilet (both at home and at work), on the bus on my way to and from work, and sometimes at work. Sometimes when I’m bored at work or I just need to relax my brain, I go to the toilet (we have a very clean and cozy toilet, that fortunately is outside of the office area), do my business and read Quora for 15–20 mins.Scriptures - Usually in the morning, and together with my wife in the evening.Comedy books - on my way to work, while riding the subway (metro). There’s no internet network down there, so I can’t read Quora. Instead, I use that time to read other books that are already stored on my phone and do not require internet connection. I take both a bus and the subway to and from work, so I have enough spare time everyday to read.Scientific book - also on the subway ride. I alternate with comedy books.Work articles - during work hours (10am - 6pm) and extra work hours at home (usually between 8/9pm -12/1am, this varies). I make it a priority not to read anything at lunch, I need that time to rest my head, I also try not to take my work home with me. I already work long enough. My extra work is seasonal so I don’t work every evening. With this plan it seems like all I do is read, but that’s not true. I still have the time to interact with my wife, go on dates, cook, play games and other things I like to do.Planning is key. Plan it, and you’ll see that you have enough time to read everything you need, and want. You definitely cannot read 1% of everything that has ever been written. That’s just not possible. You need to pick what works for you from the lot.Good luck and happy reading!

What board game have you had the least fun playing?

Logo was a massive fad a few years back, simple concept, you see part of a logo and have to guess what it is and/or answer questions about the brand. It was such a massive thing they started releasing spinoff games. In comes Logo Billionaire. My family and I set up, read through the rules and start a game, a couple of people take their turns, nobody 100% sure of the rules immediately. I then take my first turn, fairly basic turn from what I remember, then sit back to watch the turns rotate back to me again, watching what the others do and trying to grasp some of the slightly more complex rules.Halfway round I realise something, ask someone to hand me the rulebook and flip to the section I need. From what I remember the objective of the game was to aquire companies of various values. I think there were different ways of winning, one of which was to be valued at 1 billion pounds. It turned out there was some sort of multiplier feature whereby you could quite easily get massive multipliers very quickly.“No way” I accidentally say out loud.I read it again, 2, 3 times then close the book and wait.Everyone continues to play, I continue to wait.People start to notice the look in my eyes, my sister panics, then tells everyone my plan indirectly, just before my turn comes round again. “you're gonna win in 2 turns aren't you?”At this point everyone panics, “surely he can't win already?” “pass me the rule book” “how…?”Finally. My turn.I begin my turn and begin laughing at the same time, it's all over within 20 seconds, on my second turn, the game is over.Everyone was in shock, the rule book was passed around and read out loud, every line scrutinised, it didn't matter, I won, completely by the rules, in 2 turns. The game was packed away and returned to the shelf, never to be played again.I suppose for me this isn't the least fun I've had with a boardgame, unless were talking literally, as it only lasted about 10 minutes. The best part? I only realised the trick a bit before my second turn. I'm fairly certain I could've won the game on my first turn.

Which types of credit card customers spend the most (on average) on online purchases?

Gamers, I would suppose, of all stripes (meaning not just videogame players but tabletop wargamers, pen-and-paper roleplayers, CCG/TCG players and boardgamers).Steam alone finds... creative ways to part us with our money via CCs and debit cards. Actually, I went and got a debit card just to limit purchases through Steam :DOnline purchases I think play a big role in getting gamers to spend. So easy to do so, AND LOOK AT ALL THE SALES :D

Why do so few people play traditional Chinese board games?

Thanks for the A2A.I assume you’re asking about people in the United States.Let’s start with the most popular / well known Chinese games in the world. They are:GoXiangqiDou Shou Qi / JungleMahjongNote: Chinese checkers, despite the name, is not Chinese in origin. It is actually of German origin - also known internationally as Halma. As an avid board gamer and an Asian, I personally like to collect games with Asian themes and of Asian origins. However, I’ve met fellow avid (non Asian) board gamers that are not familiar with them. As for the why these games are less known? My guess:Three of the four listed above are 2 player games. Many board gamers here in the US play board games with a gaming group larger than 2 people. When board gamers do play 2 player games, the recent boom in the board game industry provides so many great 2 player games, arguably with fresh mechanics that provide similar challenges with a more contemporary feel.As the only game that can be played by more than 2 people, Mahjong can be intimidating for some due to the art / characters on the tile. Never mind the fact that you don’t really need to be able to read / understand Chinese to play Mahjong.Happy gaming!

What can I do over winter break instead of sitting all day on the computer?

Duolingo- It’s a foreign language website, no downloads- free to use. You can practice your foreign language of choice in small bite sized lessons. It’s very rewarding and doesn’t take long each lesson is about 5 minutes.Read a book- I know, I know it’s unoriginal but I find that even if I’m reading smut or really easy to read books I’m entertained a lot! I read A series of Unfortunate Events to calm me down and the Chronicles of Narnia- kids chapter books can help you escape for a little while and aren’t as hard on the eyes, especially on vacation.Practice on Hobbies/Skills- If you draw, write, play music or have any video games you’ve been looking to catch up on- now is the time. Set timers though so you don’t waste the entire day. I find blocking my day out is very helpful.Bring yourself to the movies or out to dinner with a good book- I do this all the time, it’s cheap, fun and quiet. It’s nice to get away from the family during Christmas for a few hours and movies are a great way to do it. Also, going to dinner alone at cafes or appropriate restaurants can be very soothing.Learn some basic yoga and breathing- If you’re slipping away mindlessly through the day you must be kind of short minded, I do the same thing sometimes. Try to devote some time to stretching, and breathing. We forget to actually breathe with intent or deeply enough to feel refreshed. These are some introverted answers, I don’t think it’s a good idea to rely too heavily on friends/family to socialize since everyone is sick of talking by the time the holidays are over.
