All I Have Is Almond Milk Can I Make Instant Hot Chocolate With This

All I have is Almond Milk :( Can I make instant hot chocolate with this?

I don't drink Swiss Miss, but my wife does. She always mixes it with water!

Almond milk should work too. Can't see why it wouldn't.

Can i just microwave dark chocolate almond milk to make hot cocoa?

umm yeah i don't see why not, even if it turns out bad it can just be refrigerated again

Does Starbucks hot chocolate contain milk in the cocoa mix?

I only recently realized that Starbucks makes drinks with soy milk, which is great because I'm allergic to milk (casein) and love warm drinks in the winter (but am not the biggest fan of tea and plain coffee). I love hot chocolate, though...but I've always had to make my own because I thought that at coffee shops and the like they were always made with real milk. However, lots of cocoa/hot chocolate mixes contain powdered milk, so even now that I know that I can get a hot chocolate with soy milk at a chain coffee place (and obviously I'd ask for no milk-containing additions, like whipped cream), I need to know whether or not there would be any hidden milk ingredients, like powdered milk, in the mix. Does anyone happen to know?

Also, what about coffee places other than Starbucks (I have Beaner's - or Biggby, don't know if the name's been changed yet - and Espresso Royale in my area)? Or are there drinks other than hot chocolate that I might be able to try (i.e. vanilla latte)?

Can you mix coconut milk and almond milk?

I accidentally bought unsweetened chocolate almond milk and sweetened/vanilla coconut milk.. sigh. The coconut is too sweet for me to drink on its own and the chocolate almond is obviously a bit plain. Can I mix the two? I'm pretty sure it would be fine since almonds and coconut get mixed a lot in candies and whatnot, but I figured I'd ask anyway.

Can you use soy milk in hot chocolate powder?

I've used it for hot chocolate before. It blends a little better than with coffee, though it's still not perfect. I've heard almond milk is better for that sort of thing, but haven't gotten around to testing it yet.

Why can't I make Hot chocolate with Baking Cocoa?

Why can't I make Hot chocolate with Baking Cocoa?  All the cocoa powder ends up floating up on the top and/or not mixing with the milk...  Baking Cocoa is an unusual name, connoting a mixed product that includes dutch-processed powdered chocolate that is for baking, and natural (i.e., acidic) powdered chocolate for drinking as cocoa.  Neither type of powdered chocolate mixes well with milk or water. As I answered in my answer to What technique can I use to ensure full emulsion of hot chocolate powder to my hot milk?, the trick is to make a paste of the powdered chocolate (plus cinnamon and/or sugar and other dry ingredients) with a smaller amount of milk, water or other liquid (I use thick chocolate syrup with the milk).   Once the powdered chocolate and cinnamon are well-mixed and well-wetted in the paste, you can stir in the hot or cold liquid for your drink. If you feel you must wast^k^k^k^k spend time stirring powdered chocolate into milk, first warm the milk with marshmallow(s) or cream, either of which has enough fat to serve as an emulsifier and either of which is a positive addition to hot cocoa.  Other emulsifiers that don't add to taste or mouth-feel are wastes of your time and money, as are the use of whisks, beater/mixers or fine-mesh sieves.

What is your favorite kind of hot chocolate?

I really used to like Ghiradelli's Double Chocolate Hot Cocoa mix since all it had was cocoa powder, sugar and some lecithin (to make everything mix together well) and they went and reformulated it. So now I make my own hot chocolate powder. Here is the recipe:1. 1 cup of cocoa powder (from Trader Joes)2. 1 cup of powdered sugar3. The seeds of 1 vanilla podPut everything in a mixing bowl and use a wire whisk to mix them together. Bottle and use as needed. 3 ingredients, significantly cheaper than any chocolate mix you can buy and very yummy :).

What's the best milk alternative to make hot chocolate with?

I'm newly diagnosed lactose intolerant and am not finding it at all difficult to adjust (my dairy intake was very limited in the first place as I already used soy instead of milk).
The one thing I miss though is hot chocolate.. I love hot chocolate and it's the perfect relaxing drink for me after a long day.. it's my wine, if you will. But having to ditch my normal variety because of milk content I thought I'd try soy, cocoa and sugar... only it is not very good at all. All I can taste is the soy, no matter how much cocoa or sugar I use...
So does anyone know if another milk alternative will work better?

Also for coffee... I can drink coffee with soy but it's not great.. and next to hot chocolate, probably the only thing I miss (I normally use coffee mate.. but that had to go too). Anyone know of any better suggestions?
