What is the syllabus for the merchant navy?

Hi Rupinder ,Well if you are concerned for DNS then you need to know the IMUCET syllabus that's available online. You will get feedback that the exam is easy but things have fairly changed in last year or so. Just recently conducted IMUCET exam on 4 th Jan 2019 , has surprised us alot. These days they ask not just Maths , physics , chemistry and English but also biology , history , geography , general knowledge , current affairs everything. So please prepare accordingly and you need to score a good rank.We at JMDi Academy are promoting Merchant Navy a lot and definitely feel that the competition in coming years is going to increase substantially.Well if you are interested to know for GME or someother course do let me know.Jai Mata Di.

How can l become a good marine engineer?

In india, to become a marine engineer you have various options. They are through 1)  4 year btech in marine engineering  2) 4 year btech in mechanical engineering + 1 year GME course 3) 4 year btech in naval architecture + 1 year GME 4) deploma in mechanical engineering + 2 year course . The above are normal entry procedure to marine engineering.  Now in my personal opinion, better not to go for marine engineering. Reasons are many. You need to spend minimum 3 years and clear MMD exams which is very tough to get a competency certificate for marine engineer after doing the course. Another reason is  this field is flooded , around 3000 people are waiting with out job after clearing exams. Salary they are offering is not better than shore based job in management field. Now a days rules and regulations becomes more strict and companies are cutting down man power. Finally you end up in a field with less man power, strict international rules, comparatively normal salary, being away from home, job related stress. So take decision wisely ..
