Is 5300 USD/month retirement salary enough to live at upper middle class level?

5300 $US / month is actually pretty close to my income from Social Security and a pension/annuity. It’s enough for me, butI’m 69 and I get my medical insurance from Medicare. If you retire at 48 your medical expenses will likely be higher. Trump’s election makes the future of health insurance a complete unknown.I live in Rochester, NY. Property taxes are higher than the national average, but many other parts of my cost of living are below their national averages. If you live in San Francisco or Manhattan, the same income will buy you a much lower “upper” middle class life style.I have no kids. None of my income has to be spent sending someone to college, or helping with the purchase of a new home, or buying plane tickets for kids who couldn’t otherwise afford to come visit me. If you retire at 48, your situation may be different. Heck, your situation could change after age 48.At age 69 I expect to live between 25 and 30 years more. That’s time enough for inflation to seriously decrease the purchasing power of 5300 $US/month. I have some additional savings which I invest and hope will keep me from being impoverished if inflation goes up to levels seen in the US in 1970–1980. If you retire at 48, you should expect to live another 50 years. That’s twice as many years in which catastrophes can occur. If you don’t stay employed, you will have less flexibility in meeting surprises. And, finally, I really enjoyed my career (physics and new technology development). It’s hard to replace the intellectual challenges, the social interactions, and the opportunities for growth that are provided by a satisfying career. If you hate your job and all the people you work with, then retire as soon as possible. But if you are as fortunate as I was, try to never retire.Good luck. Message me when you turn 48 and let me know what you do. And again when you turn 60 to tell me how it’s going.

I am 37 and my blood pressure is 140/90. What should I do to lower it? I exercise and have healthy eating habits.?

What is your exercise schedule? If exercise was the solution to health issues, at least 90% people would have been healthy without any health issue.Exercise leads to dehydration. Than fluid rush. The first medicine that is given to a person new to hypertension is diuretic. Diuretics helps you to urinate more often.Or you are made to lose some of your fluid.Exercise is most often recommended for lowering BP.That should be enough indication / tips on how to lower the BP.Dehydrate more often. Plan your dehydration.Find your optimum fluid intake.Find optimum level of exercise that you should do without getting tired. Please do not fool yourself that you do not get tired. Even 5 minutes of easy walking is enough to make a healthy person get very tired.Planned dehydration Day 1 - Drink 200 ml water every hour from 7 am to 6 pm. If you get up late and sleep late - adjust the time accordingly. Adjust water intake to make place for other fluids like tea etcDay 2 - Stop drinking water and other fluids.Interval WalkingWalk for 5 minutes every 3 to 60 minutes. It looks easy, but will tire you more than 2 hours exercise after 2-3 days. So when you feel tired take a break for 1 or 2 days.Adjust your fluid intakeFind correct fluid intake by making frequent changes to your fluid intake. Believe me there is no correct amount of fluid intake. Adjust your fluid intake after every change of season. ie. when there is a change in the temperature. For more info - www.healthyindianow.in
