Am I a good singer and guitar player?

Mate ignore the bottom comments. There's a lot of sad trolls on here with nothing better to do it seems. They probably only bothered watching about a second or so. You can definitely sing! A good tone to your voice.
I'd give a 7-8 out of 10.

Is Ariana Grande a good singer?

I don’t think there is anyone in the mainstream pop world with a better voice than Ariana Grande. If you watch her live videos, I’d bet you wouldn’t spot any mistake at all. She has enormous control, range, and subtlety in her voice, PLUS a way of singing that’s instantly recognizable.Let’s take this video as an example.Take a look at all the tricks she can effortlessly pull off on stage!Belting (distorted/non-distorted)Adding vibratoImprovising intricate vocal runs, WELL articulatedMixing head voice and chest voiceSeamlessly transitioning between falsetto and chest voiceUsing various degrees of power in her high notesShe can surely compete with most divas like Beyonce, Alicia Keys, maybe Mariah Carey etc. And Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift… I’m not saying those girls are bad singers, but Ariana puts them all in the shade with superior range, control and pitch. Just compare two live videos and you’ll see it.Also, take her age in consideration! I wonder how good she’ll be in 5 years, I have very high expectations…PS: I suspect they used a tiny bit of Pitch Correction in the video. But no worries, you can find tons of Autotune-less recordings of her on YouTube.

How would you rate the singer Selena (1-10)?

Selena Quintanilla is a 10. She has much better pics than that too. You chose a depressing looking pic of her.

Selena Gomez is a 7.

How would you rate The Beatles as singers?

Lennon had what some would consider a classic rock voice-often harsh and raspy, but also comfortable in a ballad. McCartney was perhaps, in my opinion, the greatest of all rock singers. He adopted styles from many people, remaking them into something different, sang in varying tones and colors, could scream as well as anyone, and his range was phenomenal. Remember the same guy who sang "Long Tall Sally" sang "I Will". He had no trouble hitting high "C" without swapping to falsetto when required, and could go as low as he needed...almost three octaves I would say. The singing of George and Ringo fit the songs they did. Harrison had a tendency to get very hoarse and lose his voice when frequently used...remember the "Dark Hoarse" tour. But the real point is how they sang TOGETHER. Beatles harmonies, watch OUT! How did boys in their teens come up with those? The way they put their voices together, when all is said and done, is what made all the difference.

On a scale of 1 to 10, how well do you sing?

5 of 10I am 51 now and I’ve played guitar and worked on my vocals since I was 18, but had no formal training and am certainly not “gifted”. For years I tried to sing pop songs in the Tenor range unknowingly with my guitar in regular tuning.(ever noticed that a majority of the most proficient male singer songwriters are Tenors?) I never really progressed a whole lot. I joined church choir when I was 45 and got my first taste of 4 part harmonies. Epiphany, With the director showing us warm up exercises and learning that I am a low Baritone, the learning and progress curve has gone up at a 45 degree angle ever since. Singing listening to the organ part instead of plating guitar while singing allowed for vast leaps forward for me. I now tune my guitar down a half step unless playing with others and my vocal control and range ar far better than they have ever been. So, my view is that we don’t have to be natural vocalist to become proficient at the craft. Some voice education, knowing your vocal instrument and practice are the key. A good instructor can go a long way as well, but not absolurely necessary. Can you say You Tube…(look at Bradley Cooper in A Star is Born. No formal vocal training or background and with a year or so of focused training and hard work he was able to sing his own vocal parts, very well in my opinion, for a major motion picture.) I think we all have it in us deep down, but it generally won’t come to fruition without passion for singing and a lot of practice.

How would you rate my singing from 1-10?

I give you a 10 for being brave in asking for an opinion on your singing. You have great determination to sing better, fantastic. There are many challenges with Karaoke and why professionals don’t use karaoke if they can avoid it. Often even if you sing on pitch to a piano or guitar, you can be off pitch singing here. You are off pitch though consistently which means to me that you can carry a tune - which means that you know the melody, you are just not on the pitch here in this version. There is a big reason a rock bank or professional group can do covers and sound great. It is their punchy, enthusiasm, their energy. Listen to a few excellent bands that play real music not electronic. You will hear their rhythms are solid with great energy that keeps the listener engaged.Your diction is decent. Pacing is fine, rhythm decent (needs more of a punch). Try overdoing the energy for a couple of songs until you find where the balance is.All in all an encouraging recording.

What is the difference between a good opera singer and a great one?

You know, I’ve auditioned hundreds if not thousands of opera singers for companies I’ve run, and listened to so many university singing juries that I can’t count, and it took a long time to develop my ear to distinguish between great and fantastic. But at a certain level of singing what puts the best over the top is their personality on stage, not being afraid to take risks with the songs interpretation, and the ability for them to access as open and round a sound as possible with as free a voice as possible. I purposely don’t look at them after they start singing and don’t look at their resumes for a few minutes so I am not swayed by their acting skills or where they have worked before. I try to go with the sound alone. If I can’t decide on sound alone I then look at who they’ve worked with, how well they move on stage and their personality (a diva/divo with a snotty personality is an automatic no, no matter how great they sang). Also, in the world of HD Video you have to look at their looks. (It’s a given that you have had professional head shots taken, you’re wearing the right kind of cloths, your technique is perfect, all your languages are great and your resume looks really professional.)-When I was building a singing career I moved to New York where I would either audition or sit in on auditions, just to see where I was ranked compared to all the other bass baritones who were auditioning. I realized that unless your were in the top .5% of the best you weren’t going to have a bankable opera career. On a scale of 1–10 if you weren’t good enough to be in the top 9.5% or above, forget about it. 9.5%–9.7% you would be singing lead roles in minor houses and in smaller roles in major houses, 9.7–9.95% you would be singing in major houses in major roles and 9.95%–10% you were most likely to be a famous superstar who makes a lot of money. I figured I was around a 9.75%. I’m convinced though that the superstar opera singers got to where they are by being consistently in good voice, had made a lot of connections and worked with some of the best conductors and singers, and had a great agent. But would not be where they were without paying a shit load of money for a PR firm that can take them over the top.

Rate My Singing!!! 1/10?

You're pretty good! (This is coming from a singer) You have a natural vibrato which sounds really good and shows correct technique! You also have a deep soulful voice, it's really pleasant. The only problem is that you sound like your breathing is a little short, try breathing from your diaphragm. You're a little out of pitch though. But you have so much potential because of that deep soothing voice and that natural vibrato, you should take voice lessons to become an even better singer! Out of 10, I'd say you're a 6. But with practice, you can become a 10! You have many qualities that most singers starting out do not have, like that lovely deep voice! (sorry not trying to be creepy) just keep singing and practicing!
