Recemended by the Famine NZ Webstie (not to creative)

No food but barley sugars and just juice (NZ SPONSER)

No talking (I tried it and it is a REALLY HARD... But not creative)

No technolgy or power (Nahh...)

NZ Classics-

Staying in a cardboard box for 40 hours and only eating Rice and Just juice

Just more from website- (sorry about the reapets)

no speaking, blindness, every time you need water must walk 500m-1km, food, no shelter, no technology, isolation, no use of hands, no traveling, no personal space, no shoes
- Any kind of entertainment; literature, music, movies (which all go with technology)
- I think that you could also take speaking to another level to no communication, or limited communication which to me, symbolises freedom of speech that many people do not have.
- I've heard of other people that do no warmth
- no hearing
- no showering or bathing
- no legs
- no medicine (but I don't want to encourage you to go hurting yourself or if you may rely on something... but perhaps no panadol for a headache or simple things?)

AND SIGHT!

Feeling weak about 2-3 hours after eating...?

You may have hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) issues, especially if your meal is high in refined carbohydrates. The best way to manage hypoglycemia is to eat every 3 hours a balance of unrefined slow burning carbohydrates (brown rice, sweet potato, 100% whole grain bread, fruit, vegetables etc), lean protein (grilled chicken, turkey, fish, low fat tofu, yogurt, beans etc), and a healthy fat (flax seed, hemp seed, avocado, raw unsalted nuts etc) and avoid all refined carbohydrates (white pasta, rice, flour, bread, baked goods, juice, smoothies, soft drinks etc) and stimulants like caffeine. Your doctor will also be able to test you for hypoglycemia with a fairly simple test.
Good luck!

40 hour famine, food to eat before it starts??

first off, i think this is a great thing that you're doing...i'm a freshman in college, and i've been doing the 40HF for the last 5 years. And while there are no "correct" things to eat...i have two things to tell you:

1. there are foods that you love to eat, undeniably. go for them. but one thing you'll want to watch out for is the diuretic content. A diuretic is any substance that absorbs water...trust me, there's nothing worse then pigging out on cupcakes, candy, etc; starting your famine, and being extremely thirsty (or even...constipated.). a 40 hour stomach ache isn't good for the world...or you. =]

2. CARBS!!! athletes prepare for major events that require mass amounts of caloric energy by carboloading. Believe it or not, being hungry actually has an energy cost for your body. Other than fat, carbohydrates (and potassium...bananas, etc.) feed your body with the greatest amount of energy. Unless your 40 hour famine is also part of a crash diet (i've seen that...a girl did a 40HRF just before a pageant), i'd suggest on stocking up on starches, breads, rice...anything "grainy" or derived from grains. keep in mind that you'll need liquids to counteract the absorption effect.

so there you have it, love. the 40 hour famine is great for SO many reasons, and i'm glad you've chosen to participate. =]

How do stop eating rice to reduce weight? I always tried but can't live without eating the same.

Eating rice is not the reason for weight gain. There are a number of factors responsible for obesity.Eating intelligently and changing our sedentary lifestyle goes a long way in mantaining the ideal weight.Start your early morning with 2/3 glasses of warm water with lemon/honey.A heavy breakfast before 9 am is good to be in high energy till lunch. You can have your choice of grains, rice even with curd, vegetables or if you like only fruits.Lunch should be medium with salads.Dinner should always be light and before 7 pm. Avoid salads, rice, fruits, curd at night. Milk is ok at night.Switch to brown rice which is healthy and try having rice only once a day, either breakfast or lunch. Also have curd and lots of vegetables with rice. Rice with moong dal is good.Regular intake of fried foods is also a reason for weight gain. Fried rice is not a good choice for health conscious folks. All processed foods like all purpose flour, packaged, tinned variety plus the carbonated drinks and fruit juices should be avoided by people desirous of good health and toned body.Avoid pulses more than twice a week and not at dinner. This is important for people who have crossed 40 years and do not lead an active life. Please note kidney beans, chik peas and other pulses would lead to indigestion and acidity, weight gain after 40 years.Drink 10/12 glasses of water everyday, keeping in mind, one hour before meals and two hours after meals.Having written all this, I would like to add that the key to good health is a strong metabolism. One should be able to digest whatever has been eaten. Everyone has a different constitution and remember, one man's food is another man's poison. There would be any number of people following different diet patterns, may be totally opposite of all the above and yet leading healthy lives.I have practiced the above guidelines and have been able to correct minor niggles and lead a healthy and disease free life. The key to a healthy body and mind is pure ( natural ) food and happiness.I do hope this would help you in finding a way to good healthy body.

Starting my baby on rice cereal?

My baby will be 4 months old this Saturday and I was wondering when it's ok for me to start him on rice cereal. I tried once mix the rice cereal with formula like it said on the box but he couldn't ever get anything out of the bottle because of the clumps of cereal. I was just wondering when it would be ok for me to start him on a thicker form of the rice cereal and try it on a spoon. We don't take him back to the doctor for about 2 more weeks. I guess I could just wait until then to find out what the doctor thinks. I was just wondering what other people did or did other people put their babies on other foods during this time? It's just that I feed him about 6 ounces ever 3 hours right now and a lot of times he'll be hungry every 2 but I can bump up the amount of formula each time because then he just spits up so I'm not sure what I should do.

CHEERS X

Why do I feel hungry after 3 hours of eating 40 grams of oatmeal with fruit for breakfast?

Because that is a breakfast primarily composed of carbohydrates. Carbs have a high glycemic index, meaning they make your blood sugar rise very quickly, and drop fast and hard, often lower even than before you ate. Try eating a breakfast of only eggs with a little butter, and no sugar in your coffee/tea. You will be amazed how much longer this breakfast will last.

Eating about 1600-1800 calories a day, but still hungry! And my weight loss has stalled :(?

On average, people eating reasonable portions of balanced meals get
hungry about every three to five hours. Check the balance of foods you
eat. Refined carbohydrates like white rice, baked goods and most
crackers or pretzels are processed by the body fairly quickly. That
means that blood sugars go up and back down rapidly, tending to leave
you hungry again within two hours. Whole-grain breads and cereals are
processed more slowly and may leave you satisfied longer.
Studies show that hunger is satisfied longer when a meal or snack
includes a small amount of protein. That doesn't have to mean meat.
Protein is also found in milk, cheese, yogurt, tofu and other soy
products, eggs, nuts, seeds and dried beans.
Also, vegetables and fruits are missing from many Americans' meals,
yet they provide bulk that can help satisfy hunger.
Have you let a low fat diet get too low in fat? Fat leaves the stomach
very slowly, so a small amount of fat in a meal keeps hunger
satisfied. If your goal is weight loss, excess hunger could be a sign
that you've cut your calories too low or that you are pushing to reach
a weight that is too low for you.
Finally, consider this: Are you actually physically hungry all the
time, or do you simply feel like eating? Eating when you're not hungry
can mean that eating has become a habit for coping with boredom,
procrastination or stress. If this is the case for you, the key is to
develop ways to handle these situations without food.
If you address all these possibilities and still feel hungry all the
time, talk with your physician. Constant hunger not related to any of
these factors could be due to medication or a medical problem that
needs attention.
