Am I Good Enough At Ballet

Not good enough for ballet?

Okay so I've always wanted to dance and my mom found a dance school for me and she told me she signed me up and ill be starting September 15... now I have never danced before and I am turning 16 in August.. I run every other day for about a mile or so.. but I'm not fit.. I still get winded and I just don't think I'm ready for ballet because a lot of girls have been doing this since they were very young and I don't want to walk in there looking stupid and slack behind... there are 3 levels you can sign up in and they're mainly set up by age.. 'A' is the really young kids that just started out, 'B' is are the 8-10 year olds that are pretty good, and 'C' is the 12 and up and they're pretty advanced. My mom signed me up for level C because she wanted me to be with people my age.. I feel like that's a mistake.. and I asked my friend that dances there and she said last year was her first year and she was in level C.. but I just feel like I still wouldn't be able to do it.. but if it's possible what exactly can I do to prepare myself. I am willing to give my 100% and I just want to be good enough.

Is my body good enough for ballet? (photo included)?

Your weight is fine for your height. You don't need to lose weight. I really cannot tell much about your body from this photo. I can see that you are well proportioned and generally a ballet body required for a ballet career really isn't. It would have to have a much shorter torso compared to your legs, arms and neck length. I cannot see what your turnout is like or your feet as you are standing on a bed scrunching your toes.
Here is a picture of Iana Salenko. That is what ballet legs and feet look like. Note the hyper-extended knees and high arched feet with long toes.

*EDIT: For recreational ballet you are just fine. You may or may not be fine for other professional dance genres other than ballet, but I cannot tell your facility for dance from this picture.

Starting ballet at 15?

jane: i'm not really expecting to be great within 6 months... i'm just hoping to catch up a bit and do my best. but why would swimming make it more difficult for me?

princess: i'm in 9th grade, actually. i started to take a class with kids my age but i didn't really like it that much. i'd actually prefer being with younger kids i have to say :) but the stuff we did was pretty easy to catch on to - we did tendus, glissades, etc and i think if i actually learned all the moves i would be able to do them pretty well.

Too late to start ballet at 15?

I am 15 years old and I want to start taking classes on ballet. It's going to be my first time ever! I took tap dancing at the age of 4 and ice skating, but stopped since it wasn't much of my thing. I am a bit afraid of being the oldest in the class...since almost everyone starts young like at 8... Do you think it's a good time though?
