Am I Guaranteed This Job

Can you get a job guaranteed in the Air Force?

Yes, with caveats. You must be fully qualified for your chosen career field. This include ASVAB scores, medical and physical conditioning and successful completion of tech school training.I stongly suggest that is you opt for a guaranteed job enlistment contract.I did and spent 6 months in tech school learning a trade that I loved in the USAF, and made me lots of money when I exited the Air Force after 7 years.Trust me, USAF Tech School can be the most fun part of your USAF career, especially if it lasts more than 60 days.My step daughter did something similar and got a 5-figure USAF enlistment bonus. She is now a successful civilian chemical engineer. My eldest son was promised by his recruiter a good job in USAF aviation mechanics, but alas, no contract. He ended up greasing Earth moving equipment wheel bearings in a very very cold place. If you are young and desperate for a job and can't manage a high ASVAB score in your chosen field, then take what is offered by the recruiter/USAF.If you have a bit more ambition then study the catalog of available jobs at the recruiter office. You need to filter the jobs you want to sign up for by what you are qualified for, jobs that actually interest you, and jobs that are a gateway to civilian employment.Note: Some jobs that you qualify for may not be available immediately. If you can wait then sign the contract anyway and opt for a delayed enlistment. The time between signing the enlistment contract and when you actually enter Basic Training counts towards various rank and privilege milestones in your career. This is a no brainer, if you can support yourself while waiting for the job/Basic. You will be potentially months ahead of your Basic Training contempories for promotions and privileges. So…GET THE JOB CONTRACT IN WRITING.Don't be like my eldest son, or if you do… don't complain. The USAF will happily feed, clothe, house, pay and train you… but maybe not in the way you anticipated.

Air Force "guaranteed job"?

Congratulations on scoring well on the ASVAB, that is a good sign you can secure a good job with the AF. I am starting to help my niece get a good job with the AF which is why I started researching this topic.
- First, I'll throw out my suggestions the AF Bullet Format.
- Everyone so far is correct, get what you want in writing
- There are two MEPs ceremonies, the last one is the only one that is legally binding.
-- If the AF guarentees you something and then goes back on their word...don't show up on your departure day
- The AF has the luxury of being selective in enlistees right now; however, don't join for something you don't want just to get in--you will be pretty unhappy
- The recruiter asking you not to talk to your friend is being semi-truthful...he is trained in how to do this
-- He doesn't want to have to do work extra for your friend with low ASVAB scores
-- Your scores do make you desirable to the recruiter and he/she will get "extra credit" for your being smart
-- Pyschology 101, he is trying to make you feel special by offering you a special "relationship" he doesn't need with your low-ASVAB friend
-- By the way, if he wasn't allowed to "tell you what he told you" he wouldn't -- he could get in trouble
- Intelligence work is great; 99% of those I know in the field have loved it...I've been retired for three years and stil do Intel
-However
-- Since you would be going in as enlisted, you will need
to listen to the officers appointed over you...this is generally not too bad...sometimes they can be jerks...no worse...idiots
-- If you don't like being told what to do you might have problems
- I have found that if the AF doesn't have what you want, when you need it, go Navy...it is the next best thing for smart enlisted folks.
- Good Lluck

Can the Navy guarantee a job?

Ok, I am wanting a job as a medic. (my goal is to become a PA after i get out) I talked to the AF recruiter and she said there is no way she'll guarantee me a medic slot...i have to be willing to want 4 other jobs just as bad. I have heard the ARMY can guarantee in writing a medic slot before i leave for basic training. What i am wantng to know is if the Navy can guarantee me a corpsman slot if i'm willing to wait. I"ll do whatever it takes. I got a 92 on asvab and i'm in great physical shape. so no problems there. Thanks in advance :)

Are you guaranteed the job you pick in the Army?

They can for all jobs. Infantry is a little different, you would get an 11x contract and when you got to BCT it will change to 11b or 11c.

Army recruiter said i can't get a guaranteed job?

What you say is untrue! I spent 18 years as an Army Recruiter and still keep in touch with them and the policy of 100% of jobs, guaranteed in writing, prior to enlistment has not changed.

Edit: You don't mention if you are going enlisted or commissioned. If commissioned, your Branch depends upon your degree and the needs of the Army.

PS: Don't plan on going to MEPS on a 'shopping trip' either. If you try that, your Recruiter is NOT OBLIGATED to provide transportation home!

Does the army really guarantee you a job?

when you sign your papers, you sign something saying that the army doesnt have to hold up anything that the recruiter tells you...all branches of service do that.

but if you have an 83 on or ASVAB you'll probably get a good job, one you want. they wont 'make' you be a cook or anything... you'll know your job range.

also-per what was said, the marines wont guarantee you any MOS, you're a marine first...so if you're looking for a specific job, and they're looking for marines, you will be in the same boat.

Guaranteed jobs in the air force?

Hello Chance,

The Army guarantees people a job before they sign up.

Air Force rarely guarantees. You can ask if there is a specific job that is SHORT at the time.

But, the jobs are reserved for assignment during basic training. The Air Force technical pipe line determines who will get what job and when. AF is not going to let you sit around drawing pay with no place to go to wait for a specific job. When you graduate from basic training you will leave that weekend to the technical school for training in the job your aptitudes best qualify you for.

What you NEED to know is to make sure you get (buy) a $20 practice for the ASVAB workbook to make sure your ASVAB scores are high enough to be considered for any medical enlisted job. We have 18 medical jobs and 2 dental jobs in the AF.

However, they are all in the GENERAL aptitude area. And so are Cops, Firemen, In Flight Refueling, Contracting, Intelligence, Legal, Communications, Chaplain, and more jobs that are not Mechanical, Administrative, or Electronic. You NEED and MUST ask for and obtain your MAGE scores. We do everything different than the other services. YOUR MAGE scores determine what aptitude area you enlist for and ultimately what job within that area you will get to train in and go to work on.

If you want to "help" your chances of getting one of the 19 medical jobs (includes dental) then you MUST enlist into the GENERAL aptitude area and not the other areas. Make a list of the top 10 medical jobs you hope to get. When you are in your 2nd week of basic training you will be seated before a personnel guy/gal who will ask you what are your job choices in the General area. You will THEN rattle off your top 10 jobs. You would make Physical Meds your #1 choice and Diagnostic (X-ray and other like utrasound and related) as #2. And, make sure numbers 3 - 10 are also medical.

Then they will tell you "IF" that technical school has seats when you are ready to graduate from basic training. If so.. you are lucky. If not, they go down your list until something matches. Hopefully, you can get one of 10.

All medical jobs begin with a "4"....

Is it guaranteed that you'll get a job after medical school?

It's a short question, but still has several unwritten assumptions. 1. Assume you PASS all your classes and graduate,2. That you are TRYING to get a job,3. That you are in the US, 4. and that you have any idea what you are talking about. People who fail medical school fail for a wide variety of reasons: drugs/alcohol, lack of intellectual capacity, health, personal  events/tragedies, the discovery that they didn't want to be a doctor nearly as much as their parents wanted them too. This leaves a wide variety of career options...There are more residency positions available than there are graduating medical students in the US. This is the first job for ALL graduates in the US who want to actually practice medicine--it is required for a license in all states (at least one year, the "internship"). So, the "job" is there, it may not be what or where you want it, but it's guaranteed. There are not enough positions to train all medical graduates from all over the world. Why should there be? Besides the grossly obvious logistics of the matter, most residency programs are heavily funded by the federal government (primarily through Medicare/aid) for the purpose of making sure there are enough physicians in the US. "Equal opportunity" is not a term that is applied to nationality (NOT the same as ethnicity). I hopes that helps, I have a feeling that you were really asking "can I get a job as a [specific type of] physician in a place I want to live?" That's an entirely different question...

I want to join the ARMY? Will I get a guaranteed job, that I pick?

SINCE YOUR IN THE NAVY DEP PROGRAM YOU CAN NOT JOIN THE ARMY. IN ADDITION YOUR A BIG TIME FELON BY YOUR OWN ADMITTANCE, THE MILITARY DOES NOT WANT YOU, GO HOME. ARMY STRONG, PLEASE DON'T TALK TO THIS GUY, HE IS NOT WORTH IT.

Am I guaranteed a job as a 3rd officer in thecompany by which I am sponsored or will I have to search for a job as 3rd officer after completion of deck cadet course in Merchant Navy?

Jobs in Merchant Navy can be compared to the Mutual Funds. (Always subjected to Market risks)By this what I mean is none of the jobs or ranks are safe in Merchant Navy, since here jobs depends alot on the demand and supply. If the market conditions are bad due to various reasons such as war or damaging trade relations between two countries or some terrorist activities in the particular area, then seafarers are the ones who gets affected the most. Now in your case, suppose none of the conditions that I have mentioned above takes place, but still there is no guarantee that the company will retain you.But if you work hard, have good appraisals onboard ship and are in the good books of your seniors, then I am sure, you will retain your job and get promoted as a 3rd Officer in the same company.
