Why are parents so shocked when a dentist wont let them make payments?

Yes Yes Yes we see this too. You can't go to the grocery store and buy groceries, and say I will make payments. You can't go and get your hair cut and styled and say to your stylist, hey I can't pay today, but I will make payments. My dentist did this for many years, let patients make payments, and guess what he got stiffed more times than I an count. He has sent people to collections numerous times and still no payments. Small claims court is a joke, the state limit is many times under what doc is owed so by the time you cover legal expenses, you are out even more. My doc has said over the last three years I am not a bank, I will no longer extend credit to patients through this office, we however offer third party credit such as capital one, and care credit. Why do patients feel that they can make payments to doc, who is extending the credit to them through his own pocket, and interest fee at that. Nope not anymore. We offer a service, we tell the patient what they need, and it ends there. It is not our fault, or interest to know why you can't pay for our services. We are professionals, and as such we expect to be paid, no money no service, it is as simple as that. People tell us all of the time about their financial woes, and we just listen, and then say we are sorry, but we will have to have the money before we start treatment. Period.

Helpp! My car was just repossessed this morning what do I do?

you had to be at least 3 months behind for a repo..and they would of sent you a letter prior to the actual repossession...what did you think, they were kidding. they came so early cause a lot of people really stash their car at someone Else's home to avoid getting it taken.

the bank will take nothing less than the amount that is in the rears. there are no deals to be made now, so if you are behind say $300 a month and 3 months. they will want at least $900.
some places even charge you for the repo service as well.

now another bit of bad news. if you choose to just let them have it cause you don't have the money. they will take that car of yours and sell it at auction. they won't be particular as to what they make on the deal either. if you were to owe say 8 grand on the car, they could sell it for 4 grand at the auction and guess who gets a monthly bill for the difference...yeah YOU....
don't pay that, and they will slap a lien on you and go for any assets or if you do get a job, they will try to garnish your pay. if you have a bank account, watch for that as well, cause if they do get a judgment they will freeze your accounts. they can't take the money in the bank, but neither can you.
as you can see, you are between a rock and a hard spot. if you have parents now is the time
to ask for help and get the car back before it's too late.
your credit report right now, is the least of your problems.

good luck

What is the proper etiquette at a nail salon when asking for money back/some sort of refund?

I went to get my nails done yesterday because I will be working on my modeling portfolio in the next couple of weeks. I asked for french tips (acrylic), and I asked for it done in black instead of white (1 so it lasts longer, and 2 because it suits me better). I've had white and it looks dingy after a while. Black usually lasts longer and shows up better in pictures.

After 1 hour and a half...it seemed like all was going well. She knew my family and neighbors. We talked about my job, her job, our grandparents and she did work hard on the nails themselves.

BUT she had me pay before she put the paint on. It's been 15 years since I've gotten my nails done so I wasn't going to argue this. Almost everything was different from the start of the appointment to the end. I wasn't going to question it. I did question a few things actually, but yeah...at this point I figured it was just easier. She asked about my tattoos and asked how much I paid..then that was her way to say well you have to pay me now! (ugh).

I paid and then she painted. She was closing and I guess in a rush...anyway, she did a HORRIBLE job on the paint job and said after it dries it will look better/different. I didn't want to be rude and tell her how to do her job. At this point I asked a lot of questions as is...I know I'm sort of responsible about the paint job part, but I didn't even see how bad it was til I got home. She was already closing before she finished on me and I didn't wanna be a pain...

Anyway, today...not even a full day old and they already look like they need a fill. It also looks like it does a WEEK after I do them myself (glue looking weird and like I should be on my way to taking them off).

What now? I can't stand looking at them, let alone photographing with them...

Do I ask for half my money back? I'd be okay with 30.00 back even!

Ever since the appointment ended, I've gone over in my head at how many other things I could have used the 78.00 for!! =(
