Am I Sick Should I See A Doctor

If you're sick, when should you see a doctor?

Not medical professional, but married to one. Some stuff is in the “do not pass Go, do not collect $200” category:Respiratory distressUncontrollable bleedingOther obvious stuff like stroke symptoms, etc.Just getting that out of the way. Call 911.For sickness, generally I don’t go to the doctor unless I’ve had significant symptoms for at least 7 to 10 days with no sign of abatement. This might include a low-grade fever, coughing, sneezing, headache, sore throat, cold or flu type stuff. Your body can fight these things. You don’t need to go to the doctor on day 2. Take Tylenol, take the day off from your job if you can, and ride it out. Try not to get others sick.Tougher symptoms that may cause me to go to a doctor sooner are: vomiting so much I can’t keep food down for 48 hours or more, pain or symptoms so severe I can’t sleep more than 1–2 hours per night, sudden worsening of symptoms that were easily bearable before, or high fever (104+ degrees F) that doesn’t respond to OTC meds.

How do you get a doctor's note without being sick?

Break a leg.

How can I get a doctors note?

Just make an appointment with your doctor. Tell them you were sick, your symptoms, etc., and explain that you didn't feel it was necessary at the time to go to the doctor because you weren't on your death bed, but since your doctor needs a note that's why you're there. Honesty is the best way to approach things like this. Most doctors understand how things work.

Don't lie or make a fake note, they can check on the validity and if you get caught you will lose your job, and technically you could possibly be charged with a crime for impersonating a physician by falsifying a document.

Doctor's note for calling into work sick?

My boss hated when I called into work sick. Whenever I needed the day off, she would just say something like "well I cant think of anyone who can cover you so I don't know what you can do". Its like I could never take any day off...and I only needed two days off out of the entire time I worked there. I even was told to work when I felt horrible and that day I had even threw up. It wasn't until my manager saw me puke and called my boss to let me go home.

Anyways, your boss needs to know that your symptoms could be from something contagious. Advise that it is highly contagious and the best way to avoid spread is to not be around the public/others. If you work in a doctors office and you told them what your situation was then Im sure they wont want you coming to work to get others sick, especially there. They should honor it. Besides you never ask for a day off, that show you are a hard working employee.

If you get in trouble for respecting your personal health, then you need to talk about it to Human Resources and see if they can support you to fix any problems.

My father is sick but refuses to go to the doctor. What should I do?

This is a difficult one.  If your father is not mentally incapacitated than he does have a right to his own life decisions regardless of how frustrating amd painful to his loved ones.  I wonder why he doesnt want to go.  When you said that he was very ill, you didnt qualify that with specifics.  Is he very ill with influenza?  Cancer? A cold?  Do you see my point?  You were somewhat vague in the question. So then, another question would be, what are his list of symptoms?  Most clinics have a service called "ask a nurse" where you could call, air your concerns and seek their advice. If yiur father has something like early dementia, he may not be thinking clearly and may need someone to be appointed as his healthcare power of attorney. A POA can make decisions legally even without consent from the mentally incapacitated, but this has to be done legally according to the laws in your state

If you are too poor to see a doctor, what do you do?

I find it hard to believe that people really think that every poor person is directly responsible for being poor. they have no idea how easily everythign can be taken away from you, from nowhere, and it's not because you are illiterate, a drug addict, or a bad person. s hit just happens.
my mother was poor when my dad left her with 2 kids, while he took everything else. house, cars, and money.
theres kids that come from abusive families that either run away or get kicked out and have to learn to take care of themselves.
what about all the people who have been losing their jobs because of economic downsizing? they could end up on the streets very easily.
what about getting sued for everythign you have....even when you havent done anything wrong.
i'm being sued right now for a ridiculous amount of money....because a girl i got into a car accident with is faking an injury.

i have seen people that are too poor to go to the doctor so when they're sick they do anything to take care of it themselves...just to not go to a doctor. even mend broken bones.

everybody assumes that the ER will take anybody in, regardless of income. and it's true. but they will still get charged an insane amount of money. the only thing you can do is set up a monthly payment plan.
i agree with all the people that say go to the ER and give fake info. what else can you do?

I have been very sick for two weeks straight, should I go to the doctor?

Generally speaking, if you are sick for a week or longer, then it makes sense to go to a doctor. Now that all depends on how you are sick and what your symptoms are.A respiratory infection like a cold, cough, sore throat and flu typically may have symptoms for that long, and with a little care on your part, getting plenty of rest, and you could get through it without needing a doctor’s attention. But you don’t say what your symptoms are, and for that matter, you really should be treated by a medical practitioner. Two weeks is a long time to be feeling ill. And most especially, if your symptoms have increased over this time, then absolutely, get medical attention. This is NOT the place to get a diagnosis, not even from a physician - there’s too much to guess, and someone could easily be giving you wrong information. If it is a cold or cough you can’t disregard the symptoms - you need to take care of yourself with bed rest, lots of fluids, eat well and keep warm - and for cough, cough drops, throat lozenges and warm liquids can help. Ignoring symptoms isn’t a good idea - when the body is sick, you need to nurture yourself, and get medical attention if it goes on too long. Your instinct is telling you now that it might be a good idea.
