American To Commonwealth . Military Question

Are the British Commonwealths bound military?

As an American I must admit that I'm ignorant of the ways in which the Commonwealth nations relate to each other and the UK. I understand that the queen is the monarch and head of state of each member nation.

American in the Commonwealth Militaries? Or French Foreign Legion?

I'm a Texas-born American. My father was in the United States Air Force as a Technical Sergeant for 21 years, and currently works for Raytheon.

Can I join the Canadian, British, or Australian militaries as an American born US citizen? Even if I get granted citizenship, will I still be allowed? I know I don't have to worry about learning any new languages, I specifically picked these three so I wouldn't have to.

The French Foreign Legion, I heard, will accept anyone. But it's only an Army, right? How does the Legion work? Is there any kind of Lafayette Escadrille in France? Or in the world?

Is there any kind of foreign Air Force that allows Americans? Thank you in advance.

Can a Commonwealth of the United States of America have its own military?

All Commonwealths and states have their own military. It's called the National Guard. They fall under the state governor as their commander in chief. Because they are not Federal troops, they can be used to secure areas and put down riots, among many other things that US Military Personnel are forbidden by law from doing. US Military troops can not be used as law enforcement or security troops during normal times. There are exceptions such as martial law being declared I believe. It may also be permissible when the President has declared a Federal Emergency like with Hurricane Katrina.Even though the Guard is a state program, they receive heavy subsides from the federal government, primarily the DoD. For this subsidy, they may be federalized if needed during time of war or conflict and then they become the same as regular military personnel.States may also organize what is termed the irregular militia in emergency situations where they organize civilians into quasi military units. This ability is a major part of what the second amendment calls for and allows the right to bear arms. Thanks to Jim Gordon for such outstanding proofreading and recommendations.

Iwo Jami was an important objective for the American military because?

1) the Japaneses were using it as a base to attack the U.S
2)the main Japaneses navel force was stationed there
3)the U.S planes could bomb japan from there
4)the islands were an important link in the Japanese supply lines

Theodore Roosevelt tried to win the republican nomination from William Howard Taft in the 1912 election because he believed that Taft...

1) did not deal with trusts aggressively enough
2) had failed to live up to progressive ideals
3) could not defeat Woodrow Wilson
4) was too slow in pushing for tariff reform

the Philippines are now?
1)an American protectorate
2) an American commonwealth
3)an unincorporated U.S territory
4) an independent country

Could someone please tell me about the French Foreign Legion and "Military regularization of situation"?

My Question consists of several parts that deal with the new(DECLARED) identity AND "Military regularization of situation". I know about the Legion websites; I've been to them all but nobody seems to be able to answer them directly. I also wrote to them but they didn't answer my questions! I just have some SPECIFIC questions and would like to receive SPECIFIC answers!

1. If I want to keep my NEW IDENTITY(DECLARED IDENTITY) and get rid of my old one, can I still do the Military regularization of situation with new identity?

2. What are the benefits of Military regularization of situation?

3. What happens after you leave the French Foreign Legion and don't do the Military regularization of situation?

4. Can you leave the French Foreign Legion with a new (DECLARED) name?

4.I saw a documentary about the Legion. It said after you finish your contract you are given two options: take back you old identity or keep your Legionnaire name with a new French passport. Is this STILL TRUE? Can you get a French citizenship under your Legionnaire name?

5. If no, what will be my citizenship be with the new(DECLARED) identity?

Please if you can help, I appreciate! Thank you for your time to answering all of the questions above; looking forward to hearing from you.

What are the odds of the US joining the Commonwealth and would it make travel easier if the US were to join?

No chance, whatsoever.the U.S. is a much larger country economically than England. We had a violent revolution for our independence. We are not part of the commonwealth formally, but we work very very closely with the big commonwealth countries. Canada, UK, Australia, New Zealnd. We have extremely strong treaties with them.Pride. The US national identity is based on a buncha farmers coming together and violently winning independence from the most powerful nation on earth. The American people wouldn't go along with it and no politician would risk their career on it.Now the travel piece. hypothetically, they could make some kind of travel sweetheart deal for the US joining the common wealth but:The US already has fairly relaxed travel standards to and from the big commonwealth countries. It's pretty easy to travel. I crossed the border into Canada with a passport and a couple questions, same for the U.K.A very small percentage of Americans have passports (10% last I heard). There wouldn't be a big incentive to make a new more relaxed travel deal.Easier Immigration / emigration between the countries would be nice though

Can a foreigner from a non-Commonwealth country (I am from the Philippines, a former Spanish and American colony) join the British Army after getting British citizenship?

As the holder of British citizenship, you’d then be able to join the British Army, provided that you’re able to meet the physical requirements and pass recruit selection. However, you should note that it’s likely that certain career paths requiring higher levels of security vetting would not be open to you. The Intelligence Corps and electronic warfare roles in the Royal Corps of Signals would almost certainly require that you obtain a DV rating (Developed Vetting), and would be very difficult to obtain if you’re a naturalised British Citizen.

American Empire vs British Empire?

Yes, I know the British empire is no more and the American Empire never existed, but I want to know if these two countries were and still existed, who would win?

The British Empire would consist of the former British Empire member excluding the US. Basically the Commonwealth realms (Canada, Australia, Ireland, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Israel etc)

The American Empire would consist of all the countries America occupied or was under American control, Basically the American Imperialism. (Philippine, Indonesia, Korea, Germany, France, Japan, Afghanistan, Iraq etc)

This is just a fictional question, I know they both don't exist anymore, but if these two were real and were an Empire, they would struggle for control, basically will lead to a fight, a war, so if that ever did happen Who would win?
