I had that same problem and it was driving me nuts because it was not happening at work! Go to the Gmail Troubleshooter (https://mail.google.com/support/bin/stat... and follow the steps to see if it is your virus blocker or something else. In my case, I had something in the temporary internet files that was blocking it. If you have IE 7, go to Tools, Internet Options, Browsing History and clear your temporary internet files. It also recommends clearing your cookies, but I didn't have to do that.
