Animes For Me To Watch

What anime do you watch? Why?

Naruto - because the plot is good. The ideals that each character portrays, there is a lot to learn from these characters. Most of the time, the course of action taken by these characters will not seem logical. It will be utter stupidity. But then, there is something called will and emotions. They also play their part in life. The  series shows how it works, or rather, can work. There is no one right way to do something. There are multiple right ways. Learning from characters, we can do from any Anime or serial or movie. But, I like this anime because I can see a bit of myself in each of the characters in this anime. And I have always wondered about the possibility of using our internal energy (chaakra is the term used in Naruto) in real life. It is very intriguing. Basically, I feel good and light-heart while watching this anime. You know, I even cry watching some of these episodes. I love these people that much. I like the philosophy followed throughout  this anime. The "will of fire" concept and how you pass it from one generation to the other, I love it. Though anime are considered impractical, I think these ideals and concepts can be applied in "reality". In a nutshell, everything about this anime is  Awesome. One piece - because it is fun to watch Luffy and his friends. Comedy is good (I love Luffy's song). IMO, the story is not that good, but the concept on which the story is based is great. Some random guys and girls following their passion, having fun along the way. They don't mind what the other people think about them (they are pirates... yes, bad image, but who cares?). I also love the weird techniques that Luffy uses (He learns the "second gear" technique from a steam engine) and weird Devil fruits (come on... what is a Door fruit?). Overall... It is nice.Deathnote - Reason is fairly obvious. I don't think anyone can stop watching it after seeing the first two episodes. I really couldn't resist. Battle of logic and wits. Who doesn't love such a battle? Cowboy Bebop - There is nothing like a story in this one. It is very random. I started watching this because the central character, Spike. IMO, the mangaka must have taken inspiration from Bruce Lee, because Spike uses the techniques that Bruce Lee used. I like Bruce Lee. So Bebop, no, Beebaappu.Detective Academy Q - Genre - Detective fiction, Comedy. And my friend's suggestion. It didn't disappoint me. It was too good.

Ouran High School
The wallflower
Princess Jellyfish
Inuyasha
Wedding Peach
Chobits
Sasami: Magical Girl's Club

Now, I am going to suggest:

Tatami Galaxy, as it is a visually challenging show

Panty and Stockings with Garterbelt. If you want weird, well, this is it in spades. It is perverted, but not ecchi; just perverted

My mom won't let me watch anime?

I would start with a explanation of why you like anime. It could be because you like the artwork, or the story lines, or just have a fetish for animated things. Whatever it is, you should assert that you don't like it because it's about death and murder, and reaffirm that if those things do excite you, there are other outlets created by Americans (who might be Asian... but not the point) that are just as violent, graphic, and bloody, if not more so. If you dare, you might want to point out that her behavior is slightly racist (I say slightly just to soften the blow, since no offense your mom displayed full-on racism there).

Now, I would use said anime in question as a base. You probably know that, if you take a M&M from a bag and eat it, if it tastes bad, it's more likely that M&M, not the bag itself. You don't throw away the bag because of one, you try another. Basically, you can point out to your mom that not all anime is like Death Note, where it explicitly has lots of blood and violence. Reaching into the bag that is the anime universe, you could easily just as well pull out Ouran High School Host Club, which has it's reverse harem and LGBT issues (does your mom have problems against those?), or you could pull out Naruto, which is basically harmless, and the only real issue is that they use magic and are ninjas, but you should ignore that for the point of the show.

Also, talk about Death Note in the sense that it got a section of the Japanese public discussing what the limits of capital punishment should be, and when it's alright to take a life. Light is never criticized for his first two killings (both in defense, I might add); but, is it defense when he kills so people are afraid to commit crimes? Also, Death Note is mentally stimulation, and keeps you guessing for the entire series. That's more than could be said about some American things. 300? We know how that ends. Inglourious Basterds? Same mentality as Kira, kinda, in justifying Nazi-slaying. So, basically, point out the double standard.

What anime do you recommend me to watch?

1- K-On!
In K-On! in an unspecified part of Japan, four Japanese high school girls join the light music club of the all-girls private Sakuragaoka High School to try to save it from being disbanded.
In their second year, the club welcomes another guitarist, underclassman. After that, they gain more structure and begin to practice more

2-Squid Girl
Squid Girl is a girl from the ocean who possesses blue squid-like tentacles for hair. Vowing to invade humankind as revenge for polluting the ocean, she attempts to make a beach house called the Lemon Beach House, owned by the Aizawa siblings and located somewhere on the Japanese coast, her base of operations. However, when she accidentally breaks a hole in their wall trying to demonstrate her power by trying to swat a mosquito, she is forced to work as a waitress to pay off the damages. Thus, Squid Girl begins her life on the surface, learning new things and encountering many curious visitors to the Lemon Beach House.

3-Tamako Market
Tamako Kitashirakawa is the eldest daughter of a family which runs the Tama-ya mochi shop in the Usagiyama Shopping District. One day, Tamako encounters a strange talking bird named Dera Mochimazzi who comes from a distant land searching for a bride for his country's prince. After becoming overweight from eating too much mochi, Dera ends up becoming a freeloader in Tamako's home. The series follows the everyday life of Tamako, her friends, family and neighbors, and this peculiar bird.

Can you recommend some good anime to watch?

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. Start with Part 1 (Phantom Blood), and work your way up to Part 4 (the most recent one to be made into an anime, Diamond is Unbreakable). It’s an amazing series with great and weird characters. Also, musical references. Lots of musical references. The sub is better, though the dub’s overacting is hilarious.FMA: Brotherhood. I’m sure this has been recommended at least five times, but it deserves to be. It’s a great show all around and it doesn’t drag on too long. Also, the dub isn’t bad. I actually prefer it, as it fits the setting better (WW1/WW2-ish fantasy world, set in pseudo-Europe)Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. The best mecha anime I have ever watched. It’s an action show about overcoming fear and self-doubt, which involves an exponentially growing mech called Gurren Lagann and a shitload of drills. Again, the dub isn’t that bad for this one so long as it’s the Bandai dub (which is the one Netflix uses).

Why won't my parents let me watch anime?

your sister knows nothing about the various types of anime that there can be. I guess if you're watching shingeki no kyojin (attack on titan) then I wouldn't say your dad has no bases when he says it's too violent. However, he doesn't understand that you're not attracted to the violence (well, not just the violence at least), but instead interested in the unique interesting story about humans fighting against impossible odds.
Just keep watching. They don't get it, they don't know it. Sure you may get scolded for watching, but they don't know it well enough to know that what they "think" of anime is actually not all that bad.
Really I can't tell you how to explain it to then that anime isn't all about ecchi and violence, unless they actually try it. And even if they do try it and still think the same, then...who cares? They're wrong. Keep on watching. You're back up is that they have no idea what anime is actually about.
