Ankle Surgery For Hyper-mobile Joints/ Loose Ligaments

Hypermobility or Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome?

Age; 17, Height; 5' 8", Weight; 143 (low) 147 (high)

I was diagnosed with overpronation in my feet. I searched on wiki. that with people with hypermobility dont have flat feet their ligaments just stretch out when weighted.

I went to the orthopedists to question pressure in my knees under the kneecap (feel like they need to pop when bending, but never do). Discomfort in both hips and the left shoulder. He said it was most likely lax joints which I believe is hypermobility. He said all I could do to relieve this was to cut back on physical activity which is really impossible because currently i'm wrestling and running twenty miles a week to train for a military career.

Then I did some more research on knee pressure and running and learned about Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome. This also sounds like the problems I have been having.

So my question is, is this Hypermobility or PFPS?
What are some treatments?
Does this have to do with growth and end upon completion?

Hyper-mobility occurs in about ten percent of the population, and may be genetic in those who are born with loose ligaments. The nature of JHS means that one is at increased risk of injuries, such as dislocations and sprains. Managing the condition may therefore also involve treating short-term injuries as they arise, while following a long-term treatment plan to manage daily symptoms.Joint hyper-mobility is thought to be very common, particularly in children and young people. Some estimates suggest that around one in every five people in the UK may have hyper-mobile joints. https://www.nhsinform.scot/illne...

Knee Replacement Surgery Cost in India is quite affordable in comparison to other countries of the world. Knee replacement surgery price in India depends if the patient requires total knee replacement or partial knee replacement. And whether both the knees need to undergo the surgery or either of them.Knee replacement is generally required when the cartilage around the knees are worn out due to injury or perhaps, with age. Most of the cases registered, show the loss of synovial fluid between the knee joint that helps it lubricate for appropriate motion. People suffering from arthritis, osteoporosis or injury are recommended to immediately get the surgery for quick recovery.Orthopedic surgeons check the severity of the damage and immovability of the tissue and accordingly suggest whether the patient requires partial or full knee replacement. Knee joint replacement surgery cost in India varies from US$ 5000 to US$ 9000 and is the least when compared to US, UAE or even Thailand.Shalby Hospital established by world-renowned Dr. Vikram Shah who pioneered ‘Zero Technique’ introducing his invention - OS needle across the globe, charges an affordable amount for knee surgery. hi....Ligament laxity may be genetic and affect an individual from a very early age. Joint hypermobility may be a feature of several genetic disorders, including Marfan syndrome, Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, and Down’s syndrome.Joint injuries often damage ligaments as well, either by stretching them abnormally or by tearing them.An injured ligament that does not heal properly, even after the application of RICE (Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevation), may be loose or lax. Lax ligaments are not capable of supporting joints as effectively as healthy ones. Thus, affected persons may be prone to further injury, and may compensate for the weakness by overusing other parts of their bodies.Treatment:·        People who suffer from hereditary joint laxity are advised to avoid joint hyper-extension, impact activity, and resistance exercise to minimize the risk of subluxation and dislocation.·        Myofascial release (with heat, massage, or other means) may provide some pain relief. A lifelong program of low-resistance muscle toning, gradually increasing repetitions and frequency of exercise, helps stabilize loose joints and may minimize future pain and/or delay the onset of arthritis.·        Surgical intervention to improve joint stability often fails or provides only temporary benefit.·        Flexible flatfoot is not a benign condition, and it often results in osteoarthritis and long-term disability.·        Orthotic therapy can help stabilize the foot and ankle to reduce injuries and prevent irreversible damage to joints. Heel cord stretching can reduce any tightness in the calf and lower limb muscles.

Both tendons and ligaments are needed to connect one thing to another. But there is one simple difference: tendon connects muscle to bone. Ligament connects bone to bone. But what shall we do if we need to connect muscle to muscle? There is a thing for that. It is called fascia. All three (tendon, ligament, and fascia) are made from connective tissue.

Sounds like a dislocation to me…

Kinda sorta but not really.Ligaments are there to prevent joints from being over-stretched. They are necessarily tight and not very stretchy at all. Some people are hyper-mobile and have 'ligament laxity' which means they are a bit more stretchy. Maybe they have longer ligaments or maybe they are actually stretchy, but it's not really well-known.Ligaments can also be stretched by injury. Dislocating a joint (like shoulder, knee, wrist etc) can stretch the ligaments, and with correct rehab they can be repaired and "tightened" back again, but sometimes they don't tighten up again properly. Correct rehab exercises are crucial to proper recovery. In some cases it might be necessary for surgery to correct injured and over-stretched ligaments. If your ligaments are naturally bendy (laxity) then your best option is to strengthen the muscles that support the joints, in order to avoid twists, sprains and dislocations. The exercise may (*may*) also help your ligaments to naturally tighten up a bit in response to the natural stresses of exercise on your joints. Then again it might not. Either way, the exercise will be good for your joints.

What is the nature of your disability?

Epilepsy- Take medication to control my seizures

Learning Disability- I can't write a single sentence or spell without the use of spell/ grammar check

Speech Impediment- My speech is slow and I can't pronounce the R sound

Metal plate/ pins in my left elbow supporting my funny bone- I can't fully straighten or bend my arm

...And, I refuse to allow any of these disabilities get in my way of living life to the fullest either.

I have flat feet, claustrophobic, I'm borderline hypoglycemic, and have a double hernia but I don't consider either one of them to be a disability at all.

My family tells me all the time that my hot temper is my disability. Don't believe them.

What does the symptom ' aching weak joints that easily move out of place ' mean?

my doctor said months ago , its probably due to my inactivity for a long time, because i suffer borderline personality disorder , ptsd symptoms , i have agoraphobia to.

im overweight, out of shape and have been inactive for many years now..
im waiting for an operation on my left ankle because i torn the ankle ligaments a year ago - so i have to be careful how i walk..

for a long time now ive had the symptom, of joints , limbs that ache against minimal activity , ie - like using my arm to type on the keyboard , my shoulder joints aches badly as my arm is extended, working..
in general also, my joints easily move out of place, out of alignment , and are elasticy, im hyper jointed or something, the doctor said..

if i was to squeeze my wrist joint slightly, that conects my hand to my arm, it would easily move out of place...

ive recentley had blood test done at my gps surgery - thyroid , kidney, glucose - they were all in the normal range..

my gp last ttime was aloof with me and didnt seem to concerned with the symptom , saying it was probably my inactivity and being overweight that caused it..

in general i get bad depressions with the bpd, where i have no energy and feel to lethargic to do anything , even though ive not been officially diagnosed with depression..

ive had the aching joints and joints easily moving out of place for many, many years now.....i cant recall when it started.

im 31 now.
