Any Craft Making People Out There

Why is the craft of of the people in Cordillera makes their folk arts unique?

These Philippine craftsman are noted for their basketry, especially their "backpack" design, as well as hats and fans.

Woodcarving of household goods, and figurines of various animals, spirits and gods are also one of their known crafts.

Jewelry, another ancient art, began as amulets and charms to ward off evil spirits or to give supernatural powers to the wearer. It was only later that is assumed a purely ornamental character. The Cordillera groups have an ancient amulet design called the ling-ling-o, said to signify fertility, found in necklaces, rings and earrings.

What makes people confident in their craft?

PracticeBecause practising is the only way by which you can make sure that you are better at something today than you were yesterday.Always remeber even if 50% of the population is as good as you at something. There is still 50% of the rest who will be amazed by your skills.Everyone must have heard the saying ,“ Practise makes a man perfect ”And with time, patience and experience, confidence comes automatically.

What are some activities or crafts for people in a hospital?

How about making things with a purpose? Many older people still like to feel useful, even if they are in hospital themselves. Two ideas that I have used before are:

*knitting or crocheting squares to be made into blankets for newborn babies, or homeless people.
*making greeting cards to be sent to Troops deployed overseas

There are many sites set up for charity crafts with ideas that might take your fancy. Here are three URLs for you to browse:

What are the best cities in America for craftspeople and artisans to live and work in?

I know about websites like Etsy, eBay, and Amazon.com, but are there any particular cities in the United States where people stand a good chance at making a living selling high-quality homemade crafts? I'm asking this because I myself am a struggling home-based needlecraft business owner in a southern Illinois town where people praise the high quality of my crafts and could easily afford to buy them, but are so competitive and so ignorant of inflation that even those with little to no sewing experience act as though they could make my crafts at home themselves for less money than I charge for them (which they can't).

So now I'm seriously considering pulling up stakes and taking my business elsewhere after I finish college. I'm always reading Yahoo! News articles about America's best places to live, go to college, get a job, raise kids, etc., but I've never seen any such articles about America's best places to establish and maintain a successful career as an artisan or craftsperson. Can you recommend any such places to me?

Serious answers only, please. I will personally award ten points to whoever gives me the best answer.
