I want to watch some Russian movies in Russian. Or at least with LOTS of Russian speaking in it, like it takes place in Russia or something. Anyone have any good recommendations? Preferably movies newer than like 1960s please. I love Russian :D

Movies: Zvezda (Star), Brestskaya Krepost (Brest Fortress), Beliy Tigr (White Tiger). The latter is not exactly a war movie, it’s much more. Nothing short of a masterpiece.Series: Shtrafbat. The Russian equivalent of Band of Brothers. Too bad I’ve never found English subtitles.

What are some good Russian series with English subs?
Since all the other answers tend to name movies and TV series from either Soviet or 90’s Russia times, I’m going to add something made today:“Interns” (Интерны) - kinda like “House M.D.” or “Scrubs” but in Russia, I think they even made an episode, where they had the main character limp and have a cane, which gave a guy staying in the hospital the idea to make “House”. I personally recomend watching till season 4 because it all went downhill from there: bad jokes, unengaging characters etc.“Kitchen” (Кухня) - ever wondered how Gordon Ramsay would look like if he was Russia, fat and had a drinking problem? Wonder no more. The show has the same feel as “Interns”.“Kikoriki” (Смешарики) - a TV series for kids, very easy to follow, great for a beginner, I think it even has a voice-over English version. I recomend watching up until the point that they went 3DI would also recomend watching some Soviet cartoons like “The mystery of the third planet”, or maybe humorous and surreal “Last years’s snow was falling” or “Plasticine crow”I think this should do it, most of the shows I’ve listed will not only improve your skills but maybe even give you a look at Russian mentality. Russian cinema has its bad times these days. Most movies fall into following categories:"Everything is bad in Russia" artsy movieExpensive but silly wanna-be blockbustersCheap and silly comedies, detectives or TV-series. However, there are some nice exceptions.Shapito-shou (2011) . A brilliant movie made by a new generation of artists. Set in Crimea, it shows a set of funny stories which intersect with each other in unexpectable ways. While it's referred to as a comedy, the film is a deep exploration of today's search of ground in Russia. There's no more Soviet Union, but no more Old Russia as well, -- so we are somewhere in space, lost without a clue. Highly recommended!Don't Think About White Monkeys (2008) . This film is set in St-Petersburg -- and all the script is a poem, which is great fun! It shows the meeting of the old city with its weird heroes with the new reality of capitalism and rule of money -- and the main hero has to choose which side he's on. Lots of great humor and philosophy, a real pleasure to watch.Rol (2013) (The Role). This is a story about Russian civil war 1917-1923, a wound which is yet to be cured. A talented actor, who managed to escape Soviet Russia to Helsinki, enjoys fame and prosperity. But he's not happy: the events unfolding at his homeland trouble him a lot. Eventually he decides to go back in a role of a Soviet comissar who's gone missing. He knows it can be the main role of his life. A thrilling movie about two parts on which Russian souls had split those times...
