Any Java Guys Out There Lend Me A Hand

One of the experienced guys in our team told me that C++ is the real deal and I shouldn't waste my time learning the "hype languages" and focus on becoming a better programmer, is he right?

If you would like to drive for a living, you could take up truck driving, become a bus driver, a taxi driver, or maybe become a driver for Uber or Lyft. Which one sounds best to you? I know what your “experienced guy” would say: “You should become a race car driver and don’t waste time on those ‘hype trades’ just focus on being good at drifting, cornering, and shifting.”He’s correct, of course, in a way. Drivers do make more money as a race car driver than other driving trades. However unless you are an exceptionally good driver, you will most likely end up either unemployed or driving for Uber anyway. So if you are sure that you will be much better than the other programmers and you are willing to put in the time and effort to pursue C++ and to be competitive against the best, then please do so.But keep in mind that there are other driving professions as well, like becoming a wealthy person’s chauffeur, transporting delicate equipment cross-country, or driving a custom bus for a rock-star. Some of those might even be more lucrative than racing. Similarly, in programming you might work toward becoming a data scientist using R and Python, an enterprise architect in a Java or C# shop, or a specialized embedded systems developer coding in assembler. One more detail - for you to requote to your experienced guy: “Assembly language is the real deal so why did he get sucked into the hype and waste his time on C++?”

I am 24 and no guy has ever liked me. Is this normal?

I will share a story. When I was in high school, I thought only a couple girls in my class were “pretty” and “worthy” of paying attention to.With this thought in mind jump forward a few years. I have not seen my classmates for a while, and being somewhat lonely, I was perusing my old yearbook and looking at the girls in my class, suddenly my brow furrowed and I began thinking, “Wow! She’s pretty, and she and she and she.” I became introspective about my previouis attitude toward those “now beautiful” girls and wondered what could have been my previous standard to have not thought they were pretty in the past.Moral is to possibly take a look at your own standards, goals, and dreams toward a relationship with another person and ask yourself whether you are not pretty enough or are you holding others to a standard that makes no sense. Possibly you are holding others to a standard making your sample of possible mates improbable. My opinion without seeing you is that there are plenty of somebodies out there for you. Maybe not a Hollywood movie star or model, yet nevertheless, someone kind, decent and loving. Caring for another makes you much better looking and they become much better looking, too!
