Any Jobs Out There In The Houston Area

Jobs that don't drug test in houston?

♫ Trolling, trolling, trolling♪ ♫keep those questions rolling♪

Are there jobs in Houston, TX?

There are plenty of jobs in Houston for skilled labor. The first guy sounds like a recruiter. Houston hasn't been hit too hard by the recession. Its appears you need blue collar work like I do. If you are union, you may be let down, as unions in Texas have low membership. If your non-union, you will surely find work. Cabinet makers wages are anywhere from $16 to $25 an hour. Most construction workers work often overtime. I was working at least 50 hours a week in Houston. Texas doesn't have a state income tax. In Houston you can find 24 hour banks like Woodforest, they post your checks right away. Many industries work around the clock, and if you can get into chemical plants/refineries you can make some real money. Its hard to get hired by the actual plant, but contractors always need manpower. The reality is its doesn't hurt to learn some Spanish. You will be in Texas, not the midwest.
I would recommend looking for plant work, or skilled construction. Most skilled workers are foreman, and most foreman drive company trucks, gas card, and Nextel.
Living in the loop, inside the 610 loop which is inner Houston, can be expensive. Good areas of Houston are Cypress, west Houston, Clear Lake, or Spring. You can't afford Sugarland, rich yuppies. Hope the AC in your truck works, you will need it, gas is not too expensive like other states. Electricity is high in the summer, and low in winter. The opposite of your cold winters. Winter can get cold even though there isn't snow, so bring your Carhartts. There is plenty of overtime in most trades, so even if you take a pay cut, it should balance out. Many companies have overtime, plus the lower cost of living, balances it out. I relocated temporarily to Colorado. The huge pay raise I got was counter balanced by how expensive everything is, and the lack of overtime. Good luck here are some websites.

What are some good jobs in the Houston area? I have experience as an outside machinist.

Ordinarily there is a good demand for machinists of various abilities in the Houston Area due to oil and gas industry manufacturing. However, now (Nov 2016) is not the best time to be looking since there has been a 2-year long recession in the oil industry due to low oil prices. That has resulted in fairly massive layoffs of all kinds of manufacturing and technical people. You can still try - there are openings from time to time in all areas but don’t get your hopes up too high at this time. The business is cyclic so in the future it may be looking up. It the price of oil hits $60–70 for a sustained time then business will pick up.

Houston Galveston refinery jobs... need to find?

I'm writing for my husband. He is wanting to change careers and work for one of the refineries in the Houston/Galveston area. He is wondering if any one out there can direct him as to the best way to find an opening and actually get hired.

He is older, 49 and had a collage degree (in marketing... not very useful for refinery work!) but he has an extremely steady work history and for the past six years has owned his own business. Unfortunately photography is very low on the needs list for most families with the cost of living. He just wants to be able to provide for his family. He is a very hard worker and has not missed a day of work in 20 years except when our daughter was born.

Any direction would appreciated.

How hard is it to find a job in Houston TX, I want to move there, I live in NY and have an associates degree.?

My advice, look for and get an offer for a job before moving. They may or not pay for relocating (don't count on it) but at the very least get this bird in the hand before you move. Once you have the employment established, then search for an apartment. Stay within a 15-mile radius of your employer so you won't waste time and other resources just getting to work every day. Don't count on or rely solely on public transit to get around, you'll never be able to live above a certain class of living by planning your life around the transit schedules - not to mention the space you'll have to share with other people who depend on it, not all of them are bad but a lot of them are.

Having an Associate's degree you can find a job easily, any education is better than none at all. Bi-lingual is a plus, many employers have preferences for people who are. Work is always there for anyone willing to do it, Texas is a right-to-work state where labor unions aren't in the pockets of government and Houston has low unemployment, finding work should be easy.

Good luck.

Good employment agencies in Houston area?

It would depend on what type of work you're looking for. We use either Link Staffing or Empire Personnel.

Is Silicon Texas and tech jobs mostly in Dallas or Houston?

Depends on the type of tech jobs you are looking for. Dallas has more tech jobs than Austin and Houston combined (or fairly close) if you count all the IT jobs out there. If you are looking for a start-up type job, Austin has a Tier I research university to drive these jobs, but Dallas has a very vibrant B2B start-up community - because of all the large companies in the region who could be customers. I don't know much about Houston’s start up scene.
