How much does it cost to build a warehouse?

Warehouse space is somewhat of a commodity so developers want to build it as cheap as possible. A common goal is to build everything excluding sitework (paving, utilities, grading, landscaping, etc) and furnishings (racks, office furniture, lobby millwork) for $25 per square foot (about $275 per square meter).Getting this done requires some design and construction expertise to size the bay spacing, structure height and cross-docking layout correctly to minimize wasted space and maximize the efficiency of the structural steel. Another useful trick is to use load-bearing precast walls so you can eliminate the steel columns and beams around the perimeter of the building (you need walls anyway).A common tripping point is the fire protection system. ESFR systems are highly desirable to the end-user because you don't have to sprinkle the storage racks but the ESFR systems are expensive and not allowed in all warehouse applications.

What is the life expectancy of a shipping container?

theres actually two types of container.there is a so-called “single use” container. the type used by a large company that only imports say, from china. (think home depot or bunnings warehouse) everything goes one way. its cheaper to use a container that doesnt have to be returned. these containers are sold dirt cheap, because they are dirt cheap. they use low grade steel, no corrosion protection, etc. the unwary individual may buy one of these from a “used container dealership” thinking they just got a bargain… unknowingly, the price they just paid may be more than the original company paid for it. and they quickly rust out. theres no reason they cant be used a few times. they often are. but generally, not by the original purchaser.a normal shipping container generally stays in use for anything from about ten years to twenty or so, by the average shipping company. slowly deteriorating, often being sold to smaller, less successful (or cheaper!) shipping companies. hapag lloyd and similar companies will buy new containers. they have an image to maintain. some unknown hongkong based company that just secured a loan large enough to buy ten used containers and are starting from nothing couldnt care less as long as they get where theyre intended to go…the dead giveaway for a container is this little plate attached to the door, for customs and repair information. it will state the dimensions, the type of floor used, maximum weight, capacity, the steel used in the construction and the paint used…if they dont mention corten steel…they are invariably a cheap disposable container. often with no markings, ie, company logos on them, either.if they say anything about corten steel, its almost certain its a good container, that may give you thirty or more years service as a storage shed…if given a simple roof.a container roof tends to buckle and hold water then rust out quickly. they take being stacked, dropped, bashed, impaled (all repairable…usually)…once the rust sets in, they quickly return to their natural state…iron oxide.a corten steel container is next to impossible to drill a hole into the main rails as well. trust me, i know… tek screws? ha ha.if in doubt, try and put a tek screw through the main beams.

Can sniffer dogs smell nicotine?

Sure. I’m sure that any dog, “sniffer” or otherwise, can smell nicotine. The more relevant issue is what they will do when they smell it.Dogs have exponentially more sensitive noses than we do. Their vision is only so-so. They experience the world through smell. Dogs can be trained to react with certain behaviors when they smell certain things. Dogs trained to detect explosives generally sit down. Those trained to find narcotics in airports generally do the same thing (if the cute beagle at LAX sits down next to your carry-on, it’s the canine equivalent of j’accuse!). Police drug dogs usually react more aggressively, as they sometimes have to narrow down the precise location.Dogs have been trained to detect everything from the “aura” that precedes a seizure to whatever subtle odors are emitted by people with cancerous tumors. I’ve seen a few that can sniff out electronics, like cell phones and flash drives (useful for kiddie porn hoarders, who store their treasures on hidden electronic media). I’d think nicotine would be a gimme.

Where is it legal to dumpster dive in Florida?

Where is it legal to dumpster dive in Florida? My understanding would lead me to answer that it would be legal anywhere that the dumpster is not on private property. However the majority of dumpsters will be found on private property. The first issue would be “no trespassing” which does not have to be posted. The second is ownership of the trash. Once trash is put out for collection it is no longer private property and this is why LEO can search your trash without a warrant. The thing is that in cities and suburbs the land containing the sidewalk out to and including the street is public property. his is where trash cans are placed for pickup. I believe trash in cans that are on your property, like the side of your house, still belongs to you.

Is it legal to own a BB gun in California?

Ownership of a firearm in California is legal. Ownership of airguns is legal. Ownership of BB guns is legal. No question. You can own any of these projectile-launching weapons anywhere in California from the Mexican border to the Oregon border. No question. There are regulations about which ones you can own, but their ownership is absolutely legal. As to the specific one, it may require an orange tip on it.Finally, as to shooting it, here’s the law:246.3. (b) Except as otherwise authorized by law, any person who willfully discharges a BB device in a grossly negligent manner which could result in injury or death to a person is guilty of a public offense and shall be punished by imprisonment in a county jail not exceeding one year.(c) As used in this section, "BB device" means any instrument that expels a projectile, such as a BB or a pellet, through the force of air pressure, gas pressure, or spring action. What does that mean? Don’t try to shoot someone with it. Don’t use it in a stupid way. If shooting it in your home seems stupid, don’t do that. I could, however, set up a target in my garage and shoot at it to my heart’s content. I’m just on the hook if I injure someone. My only concern is that I don’t know if Tangfolio makes a real 1911.As to San Mateo County, I would call the sheriff’s department and ask if you’re really concerned, but no one outside of your home will know, so why bother?
