HELP! American Graffiti the movie?

Since the movie is supposed to be set in 1962 here are some errors taken From imdb.com

Anachronisms: Television sets in the store window are early-1970s models.

Anachronisms: The coin telephone at Mel's is a model that didn't go into general use until the late 1960s.

Anachronisms: When John is stopped by the policeman, he's a few feet from a movie theater. The movie poster is for Cabaret (1972).

Anachronisms: When Milner has a run-in with Officer Holstein, the Wolfman Jack montage on the radio contains a clip from the song "Grazing In The Grass" by the Friends of Distinction, released in 1969.

Anachronisms: The pinball machines that the Pharaohs rob are all newer than the 1962 setting of the film. Buckaroo-1965 Base Hit-1967; Royal Guard-1968; Wild Wild West-1969; SkyRocket-1970; Vampire-1971.

Anachronisms: Guitar played by lead guitarist of "Flash Cadillac & The Continental Kids" at the sock hop plays a post-1966 Fender Stratocaster (with the CBS headstock, and a rosewood fretboard which wasn't made till late '62).

Anachronisms: In one of the first cruising scenes where Toad is trying out his new wheels, he drives past a 1967 Impala parked on the curbside.

Anachronisms: At the airport when Curt is ready to leave for college, there is a 1964 van parked nearby.

Anachronisms: Curt watches "The Adventures of Ozzie & Harriet" (1952) on televisions in a store window, sometime close to midnight. Sitcom reruns were not late-night staples in 1962, and "Ozzie & Harriet" was never scheduled later than 9:00 PM in prime time.

Anachronisms: Film is set in 1962. All Summer Long by the Beach Boys was not released until 1964.

What are movies that are like American Graffiti?

I've already saw The Hollywood Knights. I'm looking for movies that are set in the late 50's and early 60's era, but were not actually made in the late 50s or early 60's. Like American Graffiti. The movie has to be about small town 50's stuff, I'm not talking about The Lords of Flatbush which is about a bunch of big city New Yorkers. and no musicals like Grease that movie was so stupid. Drive inn resturaunts, sock hops, hot rods, cruising.

What are some movies like American Graffiti?

The 1993 movie “Dazed and confused”, comes pretty close. Both movies take a nostalgic look back at teenage life and shenanigans of decades past. Both movies are also similar in these ways:They revolve around a close knit group of teenagers. They both feature one character in their early 20s who is still hanging out and socializing with teenagers. Wooderson in “Dazed” and John Milner in”Graffiti.”Both movies take place during the course of one evening. Beginning in the daylight hours and ending at sunrise the next morning. Both movies have central characters who are wrestling with major decisions. In Dazed, Pink is grappling over playing football the next fall, because of newly enacted guidelines put in place regarding drug use, and in Graffiti, Steve and Curt are not sure about going to college. Both movies feature younger teenagers who tag along with the older kids for an evening of fun. Both movies feature characters who flirt with girls who are not their girlfriends, or ponder the idea of cheating. Both movies feature characters who indulge in alcohol/drugs.Both movies are chock full of classic American muscle cars. Both movies take place at either the beginning or end of a school year. Both movies are packed with an amazing soundtrack of classic rock and roll.

Is American Graffiti the best car movie of all time?

American Graffiti (set in 1962) is probably the best film evoking car culture. There are lots of films which involve the exciting use of cars by individuals without reference to the overall culture, but A.G. really captures how people thought about and related to cars in their lives at that time in American history--I know, I was there.

And Hot Rod Magazine agrees with me (at least as of 2006).

American Graffiti movie question?

I just watched it for the first time and I don't get at one point the character Steven (played by Ron Howard) is about to make out with his girlfriend, and then they get mad at each other and he says something like "Don't act all self righteous when I know what you watched your brother do" Then she gets pissed and kicks him out of the car. What did she see her brother do though?! I'm lost please explain

Why did American Graffiti do well?

The most successful books, paintings, and movies reflect the time they are set in. An example would be reading Sherlock Holmes. The book makes us feel like we have time traveled to Victorian England; the way people spoke, what they ate, how they dressed, what things cost. An Impressionist painting reflects the South of France when gesso was invented and paintings no longer had to be done on dark, rabbit skin glue. Paint was suddenly available in tubes and artists could paint outside easily.American Graffiti was successful because it completely recreates the feel of the early 1960’s in small town America. Every detail from the locations shot, cars, food, clothing, music recreates the idealistic time in US history before the assassination of JF Kennedy in 1963. It does so in a coming of age format and takes place over the evening before all the characters leave for college the next day. It is a time capsule of a very unique time in American history.

Why is American Graffiti considered to be a great movie?

For three obvious reasons: It was the first commercial feature from George Lucas. It carried multiple storylines and featured a lot of fresh talent including Harrison Ford, Richrd Dreyfuss, Suzanne Somers and Mackenzie Phillips. It used a wall-to-wall 1962 soundtrack to evoke the period, which has been the most influential aspect of it.
