NEED SOME ASVAB MATH TIPS?

The asvab math sections are pretty much all high school math problems. Im not the best at math either but i studied and did fine. Look into algebra mainly. There are also story problems which are simple, you just have to know how to work them out. But, algebra is what shows up the most.

These are some good books to study from:

www.march2success.com ( made by military for studying)
asvab for dummies ( very helpful, gives good tips, etc...)

Good luck

How important is the math section of the ASVAB?

To start off let me just say I am really bad at math. I can do the basic problems obviously, but anything more than that such as algebra is basically impossible for me. I'm in my junior year of college and I recently transferred from a private college to an online school because of financial reasons. In three months I will be certified in Homeland Security and then it will be about a year until I earn my BA. At the private college I had a 3.7 GPA (spent 2 years there) and now I have a 3.4 GPA and graduated high school with a 3.8, so I'm not stupid. I never did good in any of my math classes, after about 8th grade I never scored higher than a C.

I've been studying and my friend has been helping me but I still don't get it. When I take the online practice tests I score high (always between 98-100) in all the sections except math and shop. With the test in less than a week should I just focus on the science, shop and electricity part of studying? If I score high in absolutely everything but math will this bump my score up enough to enlist? It's with the Coast Guard by the way.

Thank you in advance!

Question regarding what will be on ASVAB test /math part.?

It's simple math and algebra. If you passed the 8th grade, you'll be able to do it. Go to military.com and find the asvab practice tests. Those will give you a good idea of what the math is like. If you need to brush up on it, it will only take a few days or so to re-learn. But make sure you take all three of the long practice tests and all three of the short practice tests given on military.com if you're having trouble with the math. One thing to keep in mind is they do not allow you to have a calculator, so don't practice with one. They'll give you pencil and paper to work out problems (the actual test is on the computer). If you need more help on how to work out those algebra problems, your local public library should have Cliff Notes for Algebra. If not, they may have other algebra textbooks for you to look at. Do a lot of the problems and you'll be prepared!

Asvab Pre-Test math problems?

The two parts of the math test (Arithmetic Reasoning and Math Knowledge) is half of your total score. The other half involves Word Knowledge and Paragraph Comprehension. These 4 areas are what recruiters use on a pre-test to help identify weak testing areas. The actual pre-test has general math and algebra questions only, so it can be difficult if it has been awhile since trying to remember the FOIL method.. I am 13 years Strong with Air Force recruiting and we use this web site to build the scores for potential enlistees. It breaks down each section and solves the questions with a walk-through to help you understand how to solve for "x" Best of luck and study hard on the math. You can do it! Don't give up and if you want it bad enough, you will study. You need a 50 to get in the Air Force to be competitive. Shoot for that score and then you can ensure you qualify for all services.
