What does putting a plastic bag over your hair while dying it do?
I've heard and seen people who dye their hair at home, tightly put a plastic bag around their head. I always dye my hair at home and have never thought about doing that. What is it for? I heard it ''makes the color better'', but does it make it darker? Lighter? Enhances the shade? I'm dying my hair a dark brown-purpleish, so if I put a plastic bag over my hair, what will this do? My tint brush is missing! What can I use instead until I can replace it?
You can just use your hands (with gloves on!!) or use an ordinary paintbrush you don't mind ruining. you can also try to use a comb; put some dye on your hair or the comb and comb your hair through strand by strand, very very carefully! To use your hands is the best option I think :) unless you have a random brush lying around of course ^^

She chemically burned off over half of her hair follicles, causing massive hair loss and blisters to erupt all over her scalp. The thin stringy hair that remained was so brittle that most of it snapped at various lengths, ranging from a quarter inch long to just about half way off her head. There were a few strands that remained full length.She spent three weeks massaging ointment into her remaining hair to treat her sore, blistered, oozing scalp. She wore a cloth bandana to cover her head. She couldn't wear a tight fitting hat because the combination of ointment and ooze would cause the hat to stick to her head, risking skin (and more hair) to be pulled off when removing the hat.It took about four months to get normal hair back. She is never allowed to dye her hair, ever again, doctor's orders.To say that she made an impression is an understatement.First off, I'm not saying this will happen to you. Heaven forbid. Hey Heron....I couldn't resist this one! I had a lot of laughs. I can say that I've been there, done that and it worked well for me.Sharpies are "permanent" and "non-toxic" (supposedly). I know you're a very bright woman, so I haven't any concerns that you'll use it directly on your scalp. Works well for a gray hair here and there, just a lot of work. Neither one of us seems to care about hair dye but have you considered henna? That, I'm not too sure if it will work but let's makes a deal; whoever tries it first, can let the other one know if it works out or not. After all, hair consists of dead cells!A Sharpie isn't going to damage dead cells.
