Anyone Been On Effexor

Anyone had experience with Effexor XR?

I have taken both Zoloft and Effexor XR. Both were for situational depression. Zoloft helped me and getting off was not a problem. Several years later I was prescribed Effexor XR. Effexor gave me energy, but it also changed my thinking. I am still paying for decisions made during the time I was taking Effexor (8 years ago). It really affected the way I thought and perceived things as well as the way I acted, yet it was subtle enough to go undetected by myself or friends for quite awhile. I had to take it much longer than needed because withdrawal was horrible. Finally, I cut down over a period of 2 months, which were bad, but the 2 weeks after not taking it were the worst. The withdrawal continued for about 3 months after stopping. Additionally, I'd get zaps and dizziness off and on for a year and a half afterwards on occasion.

I would recommend something else. I've known others who had similar problems with Lexapro and Effexor.

Good luck.

Anyone know about he drug Effexor?

In this class of drugs every drug tends to work for about 60%of people. So most drugs are picked based on the side effect profile. Some drugs may cause a claming effect which can be good for people who can't sit still, but might be bad if someone has to for example drive all day.
If u really think it isn't working as well, why not go to ur doctor and discuss why he changed.

If u have only been taking Effexor for a few weeks, I'm sure ur aware that it can take up to six weeks to work. Try and find out why u can't take the old meds and then, ask ur doctor about what's important to u from a medication and hopefully u can find something that works.

Effexor & Abilify, anyone have any experience?

Effexor and Abilify can be taken together but with caution. There is a potential for interaction an your doctor should monitor you properly ...at least when you start taking these two medicines together to ensure that you are not being affected. The link below has information about the interaction in detail.

Anyone prescribed Effexor for PPD?

I've been on effexor for almost 3 years (75mg daily) for generalized anxiety disorder. It is a wonderful drug, and has given me my life back.

It takes about 1-2 months to fully work as it has to build up in your body. I felt really tired the first month when my body was getting used to it.

I'm now 11 weeks pregnant and will stay on effexor through the whole pregnancy and after birth.

One thing to note though: make sure you ALWAYS take the pill at the same time every day, and try not to ever miss a dose. The withdrawal symptoms are horrible and can make you feel really sick.

Has anyone taken Zoloft and Effexor together?

I had been taking Zoloft 150 mg for year but my depression and anxiety has been getting progressively worse. My doctor prescribed me Effexor at 150 mg and told me to take Zoloft for three days at the same time and then stop taking it. Should I continue to take both at the same time to really help the situation out? Or, should I just go ahead and just take Effexor?

Has anyone taken Luvox and Effexor togther? and Did it help?

I have not taken them together, but I am a pharmacy student with OCD. I wonder if the doctor prescribing the effexor knew that he was already on Luvox. Taking these two medications together can put the patient at risk for serotonin syndrome, especially since patients with OCD are typically on higher doses than most patients on these drugs. Mild symptoms of serotonin syndromes include shivering and diarrhea, but it can be fatal. If he has already started taking them together I would monitor for these symptoms and contact the doctor and/or pharmacy to be sure he should be on both. If he has not taken them together yet I would be sure to follow up with the doctor and/or pharmacist before having him take them together.

Has anyone been on Effexor XR, Abilify, Wellbutrin and Klonopin at the same time?

My friend was recently on all three of these meds and she said the Abilify really helped to "kick her out of the deep depression" she was on and helped her to stop having the panic attacks. However, she said she didn't experience much of a difference in the Wellbutrin, and the Effexor XR has always worked well, but she ultimately needed the dosage increased and the use of the Ability and WellButrin was only to be long enough to "get her out of the depression hole" she was in - which took about 4 weeks.

Have you have any noticeable changes with this combination so far?

Does anyone take Wellbutrin and Effexor for depression? I am taking that since long ago. How do you feel with the prescription?

I've been taking Wellbutrin on and off for the last 15 years now. Three months ago I started taking Effexor along with it. I've been on Effexor in the past and it's worked well for me. Although I've never taken it in combination with Wellbutrin. For me the side effects of the Effexor seemed a lot worse when combined with the Wellbutrin. I toughed it out and stuck with it. Most sides effects from antidepressants, at least for me, seem to subside in time once my body gets used to it. As far as the benefits of taking them in combination, after 3 months, I'm a bit uncertain at this time. The reason I started the combination was that either one alone seems to wear off after a few years and they stop working (temporarily) for the most part. I would have to cycle back and forth between the two. The doctor and myself are hoping that taking them together at the same time may prevent this from happening. Time will tell I guess. They are both awesome antidepressants and the only two that have ever worked for me. I've seen the studies showing that these two antidepressants have a higher success rate than any other antidepressant on the market and I believe them. They've given me my life back.
