Anyone Drink A Protein Shake On Rest Days

Should I drink protein shakes on rest days?

I weigh 150lb and so I try and get about 1g of protein per body pound. I have 2 shakes a day - once in the morning and one after my workout. But should I drink these on rest days?

Protein shake on rest days?

Protein shakes are actually low in fat grams and are great to take every day. For me, they reduce cravings and help fill me up. You get fat when you have an excess of calories. If you had a great workout, you should be sore for a couple of days. Many body builders work out chest only once per week.

Should I drink Protein Shakes on rest days?

So if I workout every second day should I still drink a shake on the days when I don't workout? If I do will this help me gain more muscle or just aid in the recovery time?

Is it ok to drink protein shake on rest days?

For optimal workout recovery you should have a diverse diet that includes complete source of protein in every meal (optimally 3 to 4 meals a day, and maybe a snack). There are different guidelines for appropriate protein intake but the usual recommendation goes around 2gr of protein per kg of body mass. I would prefer that protein to come from high-quality whole foods like fish, meat and certain diary products instead of shakes but if you have trouble having a regular diet from complete meals, having a protein shake here and there is totally fine. Also protein shakes could have many different sources. Vegan proteins (soy, peas) are generally useless for the muscle synthesis, whey proteins (concentrates, isolates, hydrolysates) are great around workout because of their fast absorption and caseins (particularly micellar casein) should be your choice of protein for the rest of the day / non-workout days.

Should I take protein shakes on days that I don't work out?

yes thats right muscle growth takes place when you rest not when you workout, so protein when you rest is just as important as on the day you workout, personally i have 3 protein shakes a day, 2 of those are 1 scoop and my post wokrout is 2 scoops so 4 servings total, and on the days off i have 3 single servings spread throughout the day.

youve got it right with the 2 scoops after a workout though as its important to take advantage of that window when your muscles are drained and a big 40g serving of protein is ideal.

Can I drink a protein shake after work out?

Sure, you can. So take your protein shake after your workout to stop the muscle breakdown and mix it with some carbs to get your energy back. After a workout your body is pretty much empty and you need to refill it. Your body needs some clean, lean protein to help rebuild your muscles and also carbs to fill you up.Next generation lifehttp://www.shareasale.com/r.cfm?...

Is drinking protein shakes on rest good if one works out 5 times a week?

Let's assume you're taking about whey protein. If what you're taking about is casein protein, then sure you can have it everyday, as casein is a slow digesting protein, which is also found in our daily food. However the case is a bit different with whey. Whey is a form of fast digesting form of protein. And whether is belive it or not, fast food and supplements are quiet similar in nature, when compared to our body's digestive system. The problem with fast food, supplements and any other dietary product created in the last 100 years or so is that our hasn't learned who to digest it yet. Our body adapts with the changes around us and this is called evolution. However our body can't do the same in a short period of just 100 years or so.So supplements, can only be digested by our body when there's an actual need for it. After a workout, our body has a demand for nutrition, and whey protein at that time can be very beneficial. If you're taking a rest day, then whey protein as your breakfast can be beneficial as well as your body hasn't had any nutrition in the last 6 hours or so.However whey protein is gonna be a waste for you if you decide to take it on a rest day, after having a big, fulfilling meal. So in short, you have to be smart about supplementation in order yield the most out of it.Check out the blog Devoted Wear | Sports wear know the truth regrading diet, exercise and everything fitness and beyond. Thanks for your time.

Drink protein shake only on workout days or everyday?

My current practice is that I drink one serving of protein shake after every workout (weight liftiing and pushups) and not on days that I do not exercise at all...

Therefore i would like to ask in order to see effect much quicker, is it better to drink everyday? Or should i just stick to my current practice? Would like to buff up fast!

Thanks =)

On my rest days is it ok to take whey protein ?

muscle protein synthesis is highest 24-36 hours after exercise, so protein the day after exercise is very important. you want the protein intake to remain the same daily, there is no need to fluctuate it.
