Anyone Else Sick Of Hearing About Andrew Wiggins

Do chickens get upset when their eggs get taken by humans?

Chickens are not the brightest critters in the world. In our chicken coop we keep one fake egg in each of the nest boxes as a decoy, and that's enough to fool our hens into not realizing their eggs are going missing. Many breeds of chickens have had the instinct to actually incubate and hatch their eggs bred out of them by humans, so they just lay their egg and then go about their business.Edited to add content — and chick pics! This is a weirdly popular answer for me, so I thought I would add a bit more.Chickens also have no problem sharing their nests. They will take turns laying in the popular spots. Our eight hens use three nest boxes. I might add, we worked to make these attractive spots to lay, so that our free-ranging hens return to the coop to visit their favorite nest box. While they’re sitting in there laying, they’re pretty cranky about being messed with. If I touch them or even come close, they’ll start making freaky raptor noises at me. In my head, I interpret this as “Privacy, please!” Once they’re done laying, they trot on out of the box, cackling, and rejoin the rest of the flock.Once a nest contains “enough” eggs, whatever that means to a chicken, a hen may go broody, meaning she gets the urge to incubate them. She will then sit on this nest of eggs, none of which may even be her own. They may not even be eggs; a broody hen will sit on a golf ball.Chickens have fairly good memories and can learn routines, recognize individuals of various species, and things like that. They have more personality than you’d expect and a surprisingly rich social life amongst themselves. But a huge amount of their behavior is instinct. They are horrible problem-solvers and they certainly don’t appear to have much in the way of reasoning skills. I don’t think they have any idea we take their eggs, even though they see us do it every day.Gratuitous cuteness tacked on for no real reason:

Why should I continue to bother with the charade of pretending that life is good when it totally sucks?

Yes, may be better to just admit how you feel and to stay with that for a while. Let the feeling have its way. Feel very bad, as bad as you feel it is. Stay with that feeling. Let it have its way. Just let it rage within you. Be broken and admit you do not understand. Stay with the feeling. Let it have its way. After a time you will be getting tired of it and want to think of other things. Let that be also. Your body will take over and seemingly inexplicably, present to your mind other more upbeat thoughts. Go with those. Open yourself up to new ways of seeing, understanding. Life is not at all only that what you have seen thus far, or see at the moment. We all see only a small portion of it. We can learn to see more if we allow the pain of dislodging us from our old views, to teach us to accept, surrender to and embrace new aspects of the reality we face.It is growing up, expanding ourselves. We become more human. Life becomes richer. We will find that only after having gone through the valley. While we are in it, we cannot see but doom and gloom and darkness. We cannot see, but God does. The Bible says: Though I go through the valley of death, Thou art with me. That I can realistically hang on to. Always.

What is your reaction to Kevin Durant joining the Golden State Warriors?

Respect.I'm surprised because I didn't give him the respect that I had thought I was giving him. Meaning that I figured he would not be able to give up on the idea of winning where he was the leader of the team. I thought he had too much of an ego for that but I never thought of him as a selfish or egotistical person/player. His attitude was my favorite thing about him. He loves his mom and seems like a great person. This move proves that he has his eyes on the prize and is willing to ignore egotistical considerations to achieve it. That is commendable. When it is a has been who is not really going to be big part of the team (T-Mac on the Spurs), it is kind of sad. But when it is the 3rd best player in the NBA it is something different. Some people would claim that this stance is hypocritical because of Lebron's move in 2010, but it is not. I wasn't mad that Lebron left Cleveland. We all knew he was going to leave. But the way in which he did it showed so little class that is typical for someone who used to yell “King James!” Every time he dunked in high school and signed a $90 million Nike contract before he played a game. It fed into the narrative of a spoiled millionaire athlete. He said he was “going to take my talents to South Beach” and the Heat don't play in South Beach, they play in Miami but the American Airlines Arena is not in Miami Beach, it is in Miami proper. And that is a cocky way of saying it. He should have called his coach, GM and/or owner before and told them before he told the world on TV. It's great that he raised money for charity but there are lots of ways to do it that isn't insulting to the fans who love you so much.Lebron also went to join a team that was clearly going to be his team. It was all about him, for KD it is all about winning.I think I would have preferred him to stay in OKC for at least 1 year, but I don't mind this move. Now GSW needs to get Pau Gasol to replace Bogut.

How can you get over losing your only, loved cat to a neighbor's dogs?

I am so very and deeply sorry for you loss. I know how very painful it is to suffer the death of a cat that is beloved to you. I have not known the tragedy you describe but in my life thus far I have had two cats pass, and I held both of them in my arms until they left this earth.I had previously wrote an answer to this and being that I have received so many questions like this in the past month I decided to write about it in detail; https://www.tailsofkalima.com/su... I titled the Article “Surviving Pet Loss” because that is what it felt like to me when I went through it - surviving.I did heal and come out the other side. It does pass. There is a light at the end of the tunnel. I hope that my words help comfort people that go through this unbearable pain that I know and understand.

I am taking my 9 year old son to his 1st NBA game. What's the best way to get him to meet his favorite player, Andre Iguodala?

My best advice, along with Matt De Maio’s would be to show up to the game early while the players are warming up and get very near to the court. You can often ask one of the employees if your son could meet him. If possible, an assistant coach or a trainer or a ball collector would be great people as they are not that important but do have access to the players. An even better idea is to hold up a big sign which says “Andre Iguodala: My son would love to meet you”. Iguodala seems like a nice guy and may come up and get your son and may even offer to bring him down to let him shoot a shot or two with him. Many NBA players are extremely nice. I still remember when I was 8 year’s old and playing against Antonio Davis’ son and he injured my finger, Antonio Davis was the one to bring me ice and to encourage me to keep playing. Until the day he was traded, I would speak to Antonio Davis every week and he would give me pointers. Many NBA players love talking to fans, especially children as they remember being kids and wanting to meet their idols. If you can get his attention in any way, I am sure your son can meet Andre Iguodala.
