I had a username which I absolutely loved which I used back with diablo 1, 2 and Starcraft we’re out. I’ve since dropped the name, left online gaming for about 10 years, came back and found out there were three people who used my old user name, two of which are still active. One still uses it for gaming as far as I know and the other claims it has a Twitter handle. The gamer uses a variation of it on Twitter.I have settled on another user name (pretty original) for myself but I don’t really play online games any more. It’s more light-hearted than my old name. I’m also pretty annoyed that I let the name go and the others couldn’t come up with original names, but hey stuff happens. I thought my old name was pretty darn original.I can’t come up with a name for you but how I came up with my names? The first was focusing on an emotion I constantly expressed as a teenager and tying it into the game Diablo’s hell theme.RageofHades.The second name, is more of a light hearted name and I came up with it as a troll for friends I used to game with. My handle is 'yeputons'. Its history on CF is pretty straightforward: I have same handle on TopCoder and everywhere where I want to use some kind of nickname. I bet you want to know more about this. Actually, it's the first time I'm gonna tell the full story.Let's go back to the end of 2003, when I was exploring Visual Basic 6.0, was implementing all ideas that came to my mind and had no idea about competitive programming is all about. At some point I noticed that Visual Basic asks you about a 'Company name' among with 'Project name' when creating a new project. I didn't want to left it with default value anymore so I had to come up with a cool 'Company name'. Of course, I didn't want to put my name in it: I'm a person, not a company. So I used a trick that I was using when I wanted to get a cool word: pick some words and clue some substrings of them together. I chose 'Yegor Computer Applications' that time (I guess I forgot that it should be "Yegor's"). First part of the first word, middle part of the middle word and tail of the last word became 'yeputons'. From that time, I persistently use it as my nickname or handle whenever I need one.You may wonder where did I got that 'y' in the beginning of my name. I have explanation for that too. At some point of time before these events I was exploring the 'Bridge to English' application. It didn't make much sense, but on the first step you had to type your name in Russian and it showed its transliteration to English. So, for 'Егор' it suggested 'Yegor'. Which kind of true, because 'Egor' and 'Igor' are pronounced same in English (like 'Igor' in Russian), but 'Yegor' is much more like Russian pronunciation of my name.By the way, I'm very proud of me-of-8-years-old - I came up with a good original word, which can be read rather easily and which I'm not ashamed of (like I would probably be of something like 'supermegabrain1994').
