Anyone Know The Name Of This Soft Rock Song From Stuck On You 2003

Why do people that like classic rock seem to be stuck in that time period?

I can only speak for myself here.I graduated in ‘73. I find the older I get, the more nostalgic I'm becoming.First, the obvious. Disco aside, the music of the day was just so much better, purer. No lip-synching, no auto tuning. What you heard is what you got. If you went to see a band perform live, that's what you expected to hear…the band performing. The songs tended to be to the point, three power chords played loudly. It was something you could get your head around. It wasn't until the late 70's when glam rock came on the scene, but up until that point, there weren't any theatrics. No laser light shows. No firework displays. We didn't need any of that. The music spoke for itself. Just rock, pure and simple. We didn't have cellphones. We didn't text. We had friends that we bonded tightly to and communicated with, often through our music.I was blessed. I was one of a group of six guys ranging in age from 17-21. We were like brothers. We hung out together. Went to concerts together. We had each others backs. We watched out for one another. Any one of us would've willingly taken a bullet for any one of the others. I haven't bonded with anybody that tightly since and I miss it. I miss them.It truely was a time of sex and drugs and rock and roll. When you got something from your dealer, you knew exactly what you were getting.Sex was consensual. None of this friends with benefits bullshit. The details of the one night stand were negotiated ahead of time. And the worst thing we had to worry about was herpes, the gift that keeps on giving. Nobody died from it.So you see, when I get stressed out it should be easy to understand why I retreat back to my comfort zone where if ignorance was bliss, I was fucking delirious. I was safe back there. We had an unwritten code of ethics and we knew exactly where we stood. Things were more black and white.Today, nothing is certain. Everything has to be PC and I just don't get it. I often feel like I don't know where my place is, like I don't know where I belong. So, when I die, if there's a heaven, and I hope to God there is, I'm going to find myself back in 1975 on the front steps of 1830 Tremont Street. The guys will all be there, saving me a place with a cold beer and a joint at the ready. I'm looking forward to it.

What are the best 80s rock ballads?

This thread has many good additions but I'd be remiss if I didn't point out the shameless lack of Lionel Richie and Phil Collins here. To my way of thinking, you can't leave those out in a list of the best 80's ballads if you are extending the field beyond hair metal. In case you are (and again, I'm not clear on this point)... Lionel Richie is arguably the ultimate 80's balladmaster, whose hits include:"Endless Love," 1981"Truly," 1982"My Love," 1982"Hello," 1984"Stuck on You," 1984"Penny Lover," 1984"Say You Say Me," 1985"We Are the World," 1985 (co-written with Michael Jackson)"Ballerina Girl," 1986"Deep River Woman," 1986Phil Collins was responsible for:"Against All Odds," 1984"One More Night," 1985"Separate Lives," 1985"A Groovy Kind of Love," 1988"Another Day in Paradise," 1989(...and he produced and played on "No One Ever Is to Blame" by Howard Jones in 1985.)If your question is specific to things that would have been played on the "Headbangers' Ball" on MTV, here's my list:"Angel" and "Crazy" by Aerosmith"I'll Be There for You" and "Never Say Goodbye" by Bon Jovi"Every Rose Has Its Thorn" by Poison"Sister Christian" by Night Ranger"Faithfully" and "Open Arms" by Journey"The Search is Over" by Survivor"Close My Eyes Forever" by Ozzy Osbourne and Lita Ford"Home Sweet Home" by Motley Crue"Nobody's Fool" by Cinderella"Headed for a Heartache" by Winger"The Best of Times" and "Babe" by Styx"Here I Go Again" and "Is This Love" by Whitesnake"Love Bites" and "Hysteria" by Def Leppard"These Dreams" by Heart"Heaven" and "Straight From the Heart" by Bryan Adams"Almost Paradise" by Mike Reno and Ann Wilson
