Anyone Notice Your Question Gets Deleted Here By Cowards And Small Thinkers

Has "(Don't Fear) The Reaper" ever pushed anyone over the edge?

This is a classic song by Blue Oyster Cult ! It was written by lead guitarist Donald Roeser, also known as Buck Dharma. He contributed his vocals to this track and also wrote their other hit, "Burnin for You."
This was rumored to be about suicide, but it actually deals with the inevitability of death and the belief that we should not fear it. When Dharma wrote it, he was thinking about what would happen if he died at a young age and if he would be reunited with loved ones in the afterlife.
Due to the lyrics, some people thought they were a satanic band. People turned out to protest their concerts. Some of the lyrics were inspired by Shakespeare's Romeo And Juliet. In Shakespeare's play, Romeo swallows poison when he believes Juliet is dead. Juliet responds by taking her own life. This led many people to believe the song was about suicide, but Dharma was using Romeo and Juliet as an example of a couple who had faith that they would be together after their death.
For the lines that begin, "40,000 men and women," Dharma was guessing at the number of people who died every day.
The album has vocals and songwriting from Patti Smith. She was keyboardist Allen Lanier's girlfriend at the time and had also contributed to one of Blue Oyster Cult's previous albums, Secret Treaties.
A Saturday Night Live skit with Christopher Walken made fun of the extremely loud cowbell in this song. The band would get upset when Will Ferrell would play the bell too loud, but Walken kept calling for "More Cowbell."
Another version of this was recorded for their 1988 album, Cult Classics.
This was Blue Oyster Cult's first charting single, and their only one until "Burnin' for You" five years later.
This has been used in several horror movies, including Halloween, The Frighteners and Scream.
This wasn't released as a single in the UK until 1978, but it still did well.
Stephen King quoted this in his novel The Stand, in which 99.9% of the US population is killed by a manmade disease called "Superflu." It is also used in King's miniseries of the same name during a montage showing the corpses of those who had been killed by the disease. King often quotes songs in the beginning of his books.
This song is used in the party scene of the Disney movie Miracle, which is about the US Hockey team beating the USSR at the 1980 Olympic Games.

Why was Ireland so cowardly in WWII? They were basically on the side of the Nazis.?

I know that Ireland and Britain were enemies at the time, but I'm not talking about Britain. I'm not saying that Irish troops had to protect England. I'm asking why Irish troops weren't sent to fight in ITALY or FRANCE or NORWAY or anywhere in mainland Europe where wholesale slaughter was happening.

Is it true that Sarah Palin tried to get the following books banned from an Alaskan library..?

Rusty Varner: The source was a friend who emailed the list to me. My question didn't ask: 'Is it acceptable for an unqualified ex-beauty queen with little experience to try to ban wonderful books from an Alaskan library?' It was a genuine enquiry as to if there was any truth the matter. Most of the responses seem to confirm that there is!

Why do people bother posting something but then disabling comments? Are you that cowardly that you can't even defend your own thoughts?

I always keep my comments open but I can see why some don’t.On 2 separate occasions when I answered a question I was attacked in the comments section. The first question was in regards to the Dodge Viper and why they werent selling. “Someone who claims to be a Dodge and Jeep expert” said “That must be news to Sergio Marchionne because all the Vipers were pre-sold before being built.” I was working at a Dodge dealer at watched 3 Vipers collect dust on our lot. I ignored his answer and gave mine. I mentioned how we had 3 Vipers on the lot and how Dodge LOWERED the MSRP to help with the lagging sales.Next thing I knew this same “Dodge and JEEP Expert” attacked my answer, said it was opinion based, had no merit and stated that he had “REPORTED” my answer as such.I replied back with links to well trusted Automotive magazines that backed up my claim.Instead of saying “my apologize” or “ I stand corrected” the “PRICK” reported my response as a BN:BR” violation. The second had to do with exporting a vehicle overseas. I gave an answer and was AGAIN attacked in the comments section. I replied and he attacked some more. I gave proof and he reported me for BN:BR. After he reported me he replied to my comment . I told him “I’d love to reply back but I have no time for cowards who get BUTTHURT so easily.”

Why does a man not want to make "the break up" clear? We went out for 4 months before he disappeared and ignored my texts. I asked if we were over and he just told me he’s been busy. Is he hanging up the situation so he can come back later?

Like probably every person on the planet, I too was interested in girls who either played hard to get or were simply not interested. One of them hurt me: she kept me hanging on when in reality I was just an "option" for her. After I got over her, I decided (and stuck to my decision) to do things differently: I would never play games with girls nor let any girl play games with me. Aplogies beforehand but from your description, I think that both you and your on/off boyfriend are playing games. Here's why:1. Either he is really a workaholic who has no time to spare for others. If that's the case, steer clear of him !! That's not the kind of guy you want to be with2. Or he is not interested in you, in which case steer clear of him!! Love cannot be forced and you are not yet in a situation where you have children to think off so just bite your lip and look elsewhere3. Or he just wants to keep you as an "option" should he require company. Again, if that is the case, steer clear of him!! You do not need people like that in your life.4. Or he simply cannot work up the courage to tell you face-to-face that he is not interested. In this case, go back to number 2 above: steer clear of him!!In short, almost every explanation for his behavior is sufficient grounds for you to forget about that guy. And yet, you are still wondering and trying stuff! Just cut yourself loose, you don't need to wait him to finally do that. If you really feel that you want to give him a last chance (which is fair enough) call him and get him to do some straight talking. If he does not pick nor return your call, then you've given him his chance and just move in.A friend of mine once told me that "we flee that which pursues us" when I was wondering why he kept pursuing a girl he was infatuated with for a long time. I would say that the same applies in reverse "we pursue that which flees us" as well.

How can we prevent these mass shootings? If gun control is not the answer, then what is?

I am incredibly saddened by the events of today, and by the shootings in Oregon. I am personally on the side of introducing new gun control legislation, but I do believe other solutions possibly exist. Arming teachers will only cause more problems, introducing firearms into the school environment will only serve to arm deranged teenagers, who will inevitably steal the weapons and allow the cycle of violence to continue. The only real solution that does not involve gun control is programs that seek to pinpoint individuals who demonstrate egotism and psychopathy (the two most prevalent traits associated with the mass shooters). But this opens a whole new can of worms and can cause a "Minority Report" type situation.
