Apple Ipad Air Or Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition

Should I buy the iPad Air, the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1, or the Surface Pro 3?

Actually, iPad and Surface Pro are really different machines. iPad is really a tablet; great for browsing the web, media consumption, tablet games, etc. However, Surface Pro 3 is really a laptop, in shape of a tablet. It's a laptop which is also a tablet.Whatever you can do with a laptop, you can do it with Surface Pro 3 too. It has full Windows. You can also do most of tablet (consumption) stuff with it.However, it's heavier than an iPad, it has fewer tablet apps compared to iPad. And, that "new cool game which you saw recently in an iPad" will not come to Windows soon, if ever.(Although you can run Android on Surface Pro 3 on a Virtual Machine, with Genymotion or Bluestacks, but it's not very easy, and will shorten battery life)So, the final answer depends on what you want. Do you want a tablet for tablet stuff? Or a laptop that is almost a tablet, too?

Between iPad 5th gen and Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1, which one is better for note taking & out-of-the office use?

If you are a heavy user of handwriting and sketching, S-Pen would definitely benefits you more. Because S-Pen is crafted better in terms of precision and pressure sensitivity. It was made by Wacom anyway, i.e., an expert in tablet devices for professional design & drawing.Unfortunately latest Samsung tablets equipped with S-Pen are not as good as their Note series, especially Tab A. The last good tablet with S-Pen was Galaxy Note Pro 12.1 or Note 10 (2014 Edition).Sensing from your question, I think you like Apple environment better. In terms of apps, Apple is more favourableIf that is the case, iPad Air (5th gen) is more recommended for you if you’re only focused on handwriting (not drawings). Regarding the stylus, you might want to check the Adonit Jot series, specifically Jot Dash. I am using Jot Dash with my iPad Air right now. I am also a keen user of S-Pen for the Galaxy Note series (I currently have a used Note 2). I use them both for handwriting purpose because my drawing sucks.

Have you switched from an iPad Pro to a Samsung Galaxy Tab S3? Do you regret doing it?

I didn’t have an iPad Pro (a relative has one that I bought and set up, though) but I can tell you my S3 is probably the best tablet I’ve owned so far. It is the LTE version, upgrading from the Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 LTE. The only downside to the S3 is its battery life isn’t as long as the GN that lasts me about 12-14 hours. The S3 averages about 8-10 hours. Minimal video streaming in my case; news clips and the like, rarely a TV show or movie. The processor is powerful enough to live stream off the house cable TV/DVR box without balking; I can download shows and movies to the tablet. The snart 4-speaker system is neat, or I plug in the Bose QC-15 headphones; the audio is improved over the GN. The wonderful S3 AMOLED display screen is probably the reason for the slightly shorter battery life. My simple solution? I keep a DC fast-charging cord in the car if I’m out for a long day or a trip, and toss a Mophie battery pack in a fanny pack for cross country air or train travel. The Mophie also comes in handy for charging phones. No regrets. HTH. YMMV.

Samsung Galaxy note 10.1 or Microsoft Surface for Note Taking?

Yes, that tablet will be great for note-taking in class. If u are on a budget, get the Samsung Galaxy Tab A with stylus pen. Note-taking especially in a classroom environment needs speed and typing using 'on-screen' buttons won't cut it. Too slow. But using the stylus pen is so much faster as we all write/draw quickly and the tablets Notepad program can change the handwriting into text.If money is no concern to you, i recommend a tablet with a keyboard. My recommendation is the Surface Pro 3/4. It is powerful yet light. It can be a tablet, but instantly change to a laptop with the keyboard case accessory. Typing in class with that will feel so natural and is better even than using a pen/stylus. If u want a light laptop replacement, this is the one to pick over something like the i-Pad. That just runs mobile apps. The SP3 & 4 runs full windows programs. There is also true tablets that u can get a keyboard attachment and that is good for class too, u just can't run full legacy Windows programs on them though, but will be cheaper to purchase. hope this helps...

How do I make the best use out of my Galaxy Note 10.1 version 2012?

I personally have a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 edition. And since Samsung decided to abandon my companion, I feel the same as you do.I am a bit tech savvy. So I wouldn't mind installing a custom firmware on my device to get marshmallow.Unfortunately, you will lose sPen functionality if you do this. I plan on working my way around this by installing third party alternative apps that can perform similar functions such as Air Command.Alternatively, you could simply root the device (risky, but worth it) and do a lot of fancy things. I plan on rooting just to enable reverse tethering functionality on my device. That way, even if there are no wifi connections available, I can still use internet on my device through the USB cable. And that's just one of them. You can also install other apps that require root, in order to have a more secure firewall. Spoof your Android version and device in order to access apps restricted to other devices. For example, Sony's marvellous keyboard is only downloadable on Sony devices. You can also use your device as a second monitor for your PC or laptop. There are apps to do this. However, they are paid apps. But they seem worth it, though I cannot comment on them as I haven't used them.I hope this helps!Cheers!

What are the Pro and Cons for iPad Air?

Pros-
Good camera
Big screen
Good operating system
Touch ID
Good battery

Cons-
Pricy
Screen Isn't all that durable (within the first two weeks I had my iPad Air 2, it randomly cracked. Like a straight crack. I did nothing. Luckily Apple gave me a new iPad because they detected that it wasn't caused by a drop)

Which is better for taking notes and writing and drawing things - Microsoft Surface, Samsung Galaxy Note, or an iPad/iPad mini with a Stylus?

Among the 3 brands of tablet, the Samsung Pro Not 12.2 is best. IPADThe Ipad is not suitable to me. You can't write small, you will need to zoom in or write big.  Plus there the palm recognition is often approximative. Windows SurfaceThe Windows Surface is pretty good, and the pen well made. However, it lacks of precision when you do some small strokes. It appears some small ondulation. That's what I faced when I tried it in the shop. Samsung Pro Note 12.2Then for the Samsung, its just perfect for taking notes or also drawing. It has a great precision. And the pen has a thin tip, so it's easier to write than a pen with a rubber ball (Common for Ipad). Feel free to look at the test I did of it: Drawing with Samsung Note Pro 12.2 – Tablet Review Hope it helps !Cheers,Chou-Tac
