Are All The Doctors On Dr.who British

Why does the Doctor spend so much time in modern Britain?

To add to Ara's answer, there are some canonical reasons for The Doctor spending a great deal of time in modern Britain.  At the end of The War Games, the Second Doctor is forced to regenerate and sent into exile in modern-day Britain by the Council of Time Lords.  The majority of the Third Doctor's first several seasons is spent almost solely on Earth because of that exile. While The Doctor had exhibited a curiosity at first, and then later, something of a fondness for humanity and for Earth, he had never been particularly attached to the planet in any great fashion until his exile.  After that exile, The Doctor makes himself something of a de facto guardian of the earth.  His other incarnations obviously go on many adventures through time and space - he even picks up at least one companion who isn't an Earth-human.  But he always has a soft spot in his heart for modern Britain. This especially comes into play after the Time War, when The Doctor has been forced to obliterate his entire planet and people.  I'd presume that, given his already established fondness for Earth and the fact that humans "look Time Lord," The Doctor would experience an even greater fondness for humanity and affinity for Earth.  They're the closest reminder he has outside of the TARDIS of his own people and home.

Why is Doctor Who not American!?

“I didnt wnt to watch shity forign tv pretend to be American.”

When did the “Doctor Who” television show ever “pretend” to be American. It has mostly British actors speaking in British accents. The credits at the end say that it is produced in BBC Wales.

If you didn’t want to watch it, why did you watch it? Why does finding out that it is British instead of American suddenly make it uninjoyable to you?

There are no particular AMERICAN ideas in the show, any more than there are particular British ideas in most AMERICAN shows. Ideas do not have nationality. They are mostly not American or British. Television shows are created in every English-speaking country in the world, and in most non-English speaking countries in the world. They all tend to look very much alike. They are not copying American television shows in particular, any more than American television shows are copying them.

What single “American” idea has been stolen?

Are you aware that you are posting this on an international website in which the majority of users are not Americans?

Why are there not American versions of “The Avengers”, “The Prisoner”, “Masterpiece Theatre”, “Monty Python’s Flying Circus”, “All Creatures Great and Small”, “Black Adder”, and do forth? Because it was the originals that made it big in the US, even if often only on public television, for years following the original broadcasts.

Are you suggesting that all foreign television programs, and films, and books should be banned in the United States? Do you only believe in a free economy for American exports?

You seem to prefer a copy, even though you wrongly claim that the British “Doctor Who” show is a British copy of American television.

British television started in 1936, before the Americans.

Is Doctor Who a good show?

It is DEFINITELY worth watching if you like SciFi in any way. The basic premise is a time traveling, regenerating alien who goes around in his time machine saving people. Basic premise, that is. It gets ridiculously complicated at points, with outrageous plot twists and whatnot.
Basically, if you like science fiction at all, you should absolutely give it a shot.
I'd recommend starting with the new series, though; Better special effects, no missing episodes...The old series is classic, but like I said, I'd go with the new series first.
I hope you like it! I put a link in the source box thing in case you decide to watch it online, or you don't have netflix or something.

What is Doctor Who about?

Alright- Although David Tennant is my PERSONAL favorite Doctor, these people are exremely biased. The other actors who have played the Doctor have their own good points.

That being said. Sam is wrong, he has two hearts, not 3, and he doesn't just regenerate because he can. It's to save his life. And now, I shall answer the question.

A 900 year old alien called simply 'The Doctor' is from the planet Gallifrey. He is a Time Lord, with the ability to travel through time and space in his TARDIS, Time And Relative Dimension In Space. The TARDIS looks like a 1960's police box, but it's Bigger on the Inside, with lots of neat things within. Seriously. It's huge.

Anyway, the Doctor has an affinity for modern day London and stops by there quite a bit, picking up numerous companions (usually young, pretty females.)
They travel with him, and he stops badly intentioned aliens, monsters, etc. from doing bad things.
A common Doctor Who emeny- Daleks. A Dalek is an an alien death thing that yells 'EXTERMINATE' and EXTERMINATES things. Yes, the Doctor has a sonic screwdriver. It does things. He does regenerate, which means a convenient actor switch. Thus the show has been on since 1963, with brief -ahem- hiatus in the 90's.

The show was revived in 2005, with slightly updated special effects.

You should watch the episode 'Blink'
Here's a link to it.

A brief 2 paragraphs. There's no such thing in Doctor Who.

But don't be put off by it, it's cool. And it's really just a big ball of wibbly wobbly, timey wimey stuff.

Is Doctor Who the longest running TV show?

No. It started in November 1963. I saw the first episode, a few days before (or was it after?) the assassination of John F Kennedy. There are plenty of UK TV programmes which have been running longer than that, and completely without the very long breaks in production suffered by “Doctor Who”. The ITN News is an obvious one. So is the British soap “Coronation Street”, which has run originally once, then twice, now thrice a week, for the last fifty seven and a half years.

Doctor Who Homecoming Ideas?
