Are Brothels Actually Legal I Mean Seriously

Should prostitution be legal or illegal?

I think it should be legal and regulated like it is in Canada and Germany. There hookers pay taxes and since its regulated the ladies are better protected from attackers. Here in the US if a hooker is assaulted she really cant seek help because she will be thrown in jail. Even victims of sex trafficking are often treated like crap in the USA. The government could also take some $ from the hookers and this would benefit the country. Regulation could also help ensure the clients and hookers were tested for stds to help prevent the spread of stds and there would be no more use of abusive pimps because the government would step in. Legal prostitution would also end a lot of the illegal sex trade. From a moral standpoint its immoral to sell ones body, but so is cheating on a partner, or betraying a friend, and that's not a crime. Prostitution is legal in some parts of Nevada and the hookers often live on the sex ranch. They are paid well and treated with dignity. Also porn is legal and if an actor can have sex on camera for $ why can't a non actor have sex for $ w/o one. Hopefully it will be legal.

Does legalized and regulated prostitution really make it safe and victimless?

Of course not, nothing is completely safe, and some people will always find ways to victimize others. It does make it safer and easier for victims of violence, rape, coercion, extortion, etc. to get the help they need, with less likelihood of futher victimization. Much of the harm done sexworkers, and many of the factors that facilitate victimization in the industry, come from circumstances created by criminalization and/or heavy regulation. Since New Zealand has the lightest regulation of legal prostitution, their experiences are the most relevant to your question, so this report (http://www.justice.govt.nz/polic... ) on the viability of the prostitution reform will probably be of interest to you. It's quite fascinating, I encourage you to read it through.

Is *offering money for sex* considered "illegal" or "prostitution"?

I can see why walking the streets and advertising yourself would be illegal / prostitution, but what if a girl was not doing this, she was just, I don't know, someone you saw at the mall or store, and you walked up to her and said "I'll give you $100 to have sex with me."? It can't really be prostitution, because who is the prostitute? It can't even be considered harassment if you only ask once, right? So is there any legal problem with doing this?

Is prostitution legal on ebay?

i didnt know it was legal.
hats not right.
how is it fair for us prostetutes to get arrested every time we get caught by the cops? lol. just kidding.
im not a prostetute. lol

but that should be illegal.

Controversial question, Should prostitution be legal for adults?

There are pros and contras to this:

Arguments against legalization:
-legalizing it means accepting it as justifiable practice in society, and hence encouraging its growth. That can only mean extra steps on the moral decadence of community, broken families, and greater risks of STDs as end results.
-People say that making those girls less vulnerable to pimps and criminals is an advantage of legalization. On the short run it may seem so, but on the long run I say it is far from an advantage. It may sound a bit cruel, but as long as there are risks in being a prostitute, a girl will REALLY think 100 times before going for it. My opinion: when prostitution will mean easy, good money without the risks of imprisonment, slavery, violence, abuze A LOT more women will be tempted to practice it, even temporarily. If now, when being a prostitute involves this greatly life risks, the number of prostitutes is so big, what can logically happen when you take out all these risks?

Arguments for legalization:
- legalizing it would make it a lot cheaper than keeping the fight against it. as someone else mentionned before, rather than spending money on the war against prostitution, you could tax them and earn money.
- keeping it illegal has not been proved to be an efficient method to eliminate it. Nor to greatly diminish it. Never. Prostitution is and has been the oldest proffession in the world...

Solution?
If the answer would be keeping it illegal, prostitution by now would have dissapeared . It hasn't .

If it were to be legal, than it would have to be in such a way that people would be discouraged from practicing it. In such a way that rather than an easy way of pleasure and money, it will be the last solution for both. How? One answer is taxation and price control. (Of course, this would still not stop the rich guys from doing it. But has anything done it yet?)

Is prostitution legal if you decide to record it?

Nope. This question is asked, on average, anywhere from half a dozen to a dozen times per week on Quora. I just tried to merge it with one of the other times it’s been asked, but Quora’s search, which had been working for a little while last week, is broken again. So I’ll answer it again, and wait for someone else to merge it.In the US, in order to legally shoot porn, there are a lot of significant laws and regulations you must obey. You must, for example:Have a business licenseComply with 18 USC § 2257, which means, among other things, that you must have a registered Agent of Record who maintains records of all shoots, their dates, the people involved, copies of legal identification and proof of age for all the models, and more.Carry a certificate of insurance for the shoot.Comply with OSHA regulations.Do proper tax withholding and accounting for the shoot.Have a filming permit for the shoot. (This alone generally costs about $1,600.)In the US, prostitution is generally a misdemeanor offense with a small fine. However, if you do a porn shoot without obeying all the laws and regulations, you’re looking at serious criminal charges. In particular, failure to comply with 18 USC § 2257 is a Federal offense. You’re looking at six-figure fines and/or an extended stay in Federal prison if you don’t comply. If you get busted for prostitution and you say you’re filming porn, the first thing the cops will say is “Who is your registered Agent of Record, and where is your 2257 paperwork?” You don’t have that? Congratulations, your misdemeanor offense with a $300 fine has just become a Federal offense with a $100,000 fine and 5 years in prison.18 U.S. Code § 2257 - Record keeping requirements

What is the big deal about prostitution, why are some people against it?

I think it's okay, as long as both parties are safe and of age. If you feel that your body is what you have to offer to society, who the heck am I to tell you different?

The only issue I have is when the same people railing against it are the same ones that secretely solicit prostitutes on the side.

EDIT: Wow, I agree with R. Gaspari again! I don't believe it leads to infidelity. Cheating leads to marital infidelity. You don't have to solicit prostitutes. If prostitutes weren't there, the johns (or joannes, in rare cases) would find someone else to cheat with.

Louisebro: "That's why men are in power"? There are men out there willing to spend thousands of dollars for sex, something that some women are willing to give away cheaply anyway. Who's REALLY in power here? No one's promoting the "Pretty Woman" idea of prostitution, or at least, I'm not. What about sIuts? They give it away for free anyway, why not get paid for it? If you feel that sex is your only asset and your only way to make money, who are we to judge?

Prostitution comes in all forms. It's the act of exchanging sex for favors. People do that in different ways; to get that promotion, to get back at someone, etc. It's all some form of prostitution. It truly is the oldest profession.
