Are Cigarettes Really Relaxing

Does smoking cigarettes really help you in your studies? Why?

There is some evidence that nicotine does have beneficial cognitive effects even in non-smokers - for example, see Meta-analysis of the acute effects of nicotine and smoking on human performance. However, to be honest, if you are a non-smoker I really doubt that they are going to be significant enough to make a difference to your studies. If you are already a smoker, then the tension of not being able to smoke for long periods very likely will distract you from your studies, though you could use a substitute such as a nicotine patch to ease that.

Do cigarettes help you de-stress and relax?

Sure they are a crutch, but hopefully you will be smart and never ever pick up that disgusting habit. There are better ways to relax and help your body instead of killing it. Jogging, walking or yoga are all beneficial.

Life at 17 is not as stressful as you think it is-everyone thinks that at that age. It's only because you are for the first time making your own decisions. Sometimes we want it all. What you need to do is deal with the added stress and get used to it because life is going to get a lot harder.

What do cigarettes actually DO for you?

I know of all the bad things and then some, but what is it that makes people love them so much? For example, people do MJ because it makes them chill and shiat. What does cigs do? Relax you? Like, what?

I hope you understand my question. Im just confused to why people decide to do them in the first place if it doesn't at least do something for you.

Do cigarettes calm you down?

Research has shown that people smoke "to calm down" when physiologically the opposite occurs....blood pressure goes up, etc. What calms a person is the "process of smoking"...the rituals they go through, getting one out, lighting, holding it a certain way, etc. Watch a person when they smoke, you will see the ritual, perhaps tapping the cigarette box, favorite lighter, certain way of holding it....interesting question! Can water vapor cigarettes help relax you?

As a smoker I would not recommend because you might feel like smoking a real cigarette. I have been smoking for about 7 years and it is so hard to quit. All i have achieved so far is cut down in smoking and I stopped for a couple of days the most I have achieved is 1 week then started smoking again. So no I do not recommended because you will program your brain to have the vapor cigarette in your hands and well it is just a lot to say about it. If you fall on smoking real cigarettes then it will cost you money you will be polluting your body and it might be difficult. Take it from me. Dont even bother with those things. Unless you really want to promise yourself you will not smoke real cigarettes.

Try some other things like pills or somethings instead...
For instance me I like to go for a drive in the freeway not going anywhere just drive and then Ill come back home after an hour of driving feeling relaxed. Sometimes playing a game could help you relax. Watch a movie. Go out dancing with friends. take your dog for a walk. or you go take a walk. Ride a bike. I mean there a lot of things. I REALLY recommend you to do things like the ones I mentioned and you will find something that will really make you feel better and relaxed...

Good luck....

Why do poeple smoke cigarettes to relax?

You need to try it, to understand.

Does smoking cigarettes really help calm the nerves?

I don't smoke. But I always thought that people smoke to help calm themselves or something like that.Other people say it doesn't do anything, but you get addicted to nicotine and crave it more.I know it causes cancer too.But does it really help calm you down,or relax you?

What's a good alternative to cigarettes for relaxation?

i'm not a pommy but a cup of tea does it for me...
