Are Copepods Herbivores

Are copepods herbivore, carnivore, or omnivore?

Copepods are omnivores. Mainly they feed on microscopic algae, diatoms and even bacteria, but they also may be predators on zooplankton and their own eggs and nauplii ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nauplius_(l... )

Herbivores are which of the following?

It is indeed C.
The plants the herbivores eat would be the producers (they produce glucose via photosynthesis).
The herbivore is the primary consumer; this is the organism that eats the plants for energy.
Carnivores and omnivores would be secondary consumers. When we eat chicken, beef or other meats, we are gaining chemical energy stored in glucose molecules (and glycogen, long chains of glucose called 'animal starch') which will be used in the mitochondria of our cells to produce ATP for all of the chemical energy our cells need, in the process called cellular respiration. We can also eat fruits and vegetables, but we cannot break down plant starch (cellulose) so we gain roughage for our digestive systems and various vitamins and sugars which are stored in the fruits and vegetables.
Decomposers are organisms like certain bacteria. which break down animal tissue so that it can be returned to the soil, which is why we are not hip-deep in animals hit by cars and is also why organisms begin to decay shortly after death; the immune system isn't working anymore, so bacteria have free rein on the tissues.

Are copepods the best detritivores?

To be sincere it's not that i am going to down the god seeing that this anything or any individual who created the heaven and the earth.. within the bible it acknowledged that god created within the heavens and the earth... adequate so individuals we don't seem to be the core of the universe and now not the one factor god created... Also the whole thing adding us, the earth and the complete universe.. so god may be.. therefore the whole thing revolves round power and god as after we die our spirits (power once more) become through wherein they began.. within the power known as god... Also the koran, the bible, and so forth are all books as gear for faith... I don't consider they had been ment to overcome every over the top with... As for christians.. I grew up one however learned through studying JOB within the bible and learned how hipicritical christians and everybody else is approximately judging one yet another... consider that's a have to learn for someone of any faith within the phrase is pass judgement on any individual and now not are living there lifes course is among the worse consider you'll do...That is solely my opinion I welcome yours

Are copepods herbivores?

Yes, they are herbivores.
Many of the smaller copepods feed directly on phytoplankton, catching cells singly. Some of the larger species are predators of their smaller relatives. Many benthic copepods eat organic detritus or the bacteria that grow in it, and their mouth parts are adapted for scraping and biting. Herbivorous copepods, particularly those in rich cold seas, store up energy from their food as oil droplets while they feed in the spring and summer plankton blooms. These droplets may take up over half of the volume of the body in polar species. Many copepods (e.g., fish lice like argulidae and siphonostomatoidae) are parasites, and feed on their host organisms.

Diversity in copepod diets is important, as it provides many pathways by which they can obtain their required nutrients. Diets that are nutritionally complete enrich the chances of success amongst individual copepods or the entire copepod population. Copepods are sensitive to metals such as silver, zinc, copper and nickel. Adding such metals to the diet of copepods leads to a reduction in their feeding and reproduction rates. Out of such metals, copepods are the most sensitive to silver. This is likely to be due to the fact that silver is not considered an essential nutrient to copepods or other marine organisms. Copepods generally tend to feed on a mixed algal diet in their natural habitat. The survival and success of the copepod population over the years may be partially due to their ability to select prey, avoiding contaminated food

Would a squid count as a producer, herbivore or carnivore?

Since many squids feed on shrimp, plankton, fish and crustacean, my guess is that they are carnivore (Obviously).

Plus, there isn't really any plants in the sea, other than sea weed and algae, and since they aren't really nutritious, I doubt squids would eat them. Also, squids are definitely not producers.

What species of carnivorous fish only consume herbivorous organisms?

If you mean "what fish only eats herbivorous fish" the answer is likely none. Most "herbivorous" fish are opertunistic carnivores and will occasionally eat small shrimp, bits of dead animals, and some other inverts. So... Even if a fish only ate yellow tang (considered herbivorous) it still fails your question because even tang eat mysid shrimp and amohipods from time to time.As far as directly answering your question, several fish species only eat one type or sometimes just one species of animal. And sometimes that animal, especially if it's an Invert, is a true herbivore. However most inverts are also opertunistic carnivores, even snails (usually considered herbivores) will eat dead animals.Off the top of my head... I can't think of any. My room mate (also a marine biologist) can't think of any either. My best answer would be a dragonett. Because they only eat copepods in the wild, and many types of copepods are true herbivores. That being said, I have seen dragonetts in captivity eat mysid shrimp, brine shrimp, and amphipods. So I don't think that counts.Tl;Dr: probably, but I can't think of any because most fish are opertunistic with meat, and most inverts are either omnivores or detrovores.

Omnivore, Carnivore, Herbivore, Decomposer?

the ring-tail is an omnivore but mostly eats lizards and other small reptiles. they are known to eat berries and other edible plants (if you are talking about the ring-tailed lemur)
the western whip-tail is a carnivore eating very small lizards and insects. it will pretty much eat any non-threatening any that it can fit in its mouth
the raven would be considered a decomposer in some sense because they will eat animals that are freshly dead or have already started to decompose.
the black tipped jack rabbit is a herbivore eating most plants and berries that it can come across. they are primarily prone to eating things like tubers and root vegies but they will eat more if they can find it.
the coyote is a decomposer in the same since as the raven but is also a carnivorous hunter and will work in a pack to take down small mammals and birds.
the mountain lion is a carnivore hunting down larger mammals and is more of a solitary predator
the bobcat is the same way as a mountain lion but eats smaller prey such as birds and rabbits
the barred owl is also a carnivore eating mice and other small rodents using its exceptional eyesight to track down animals from the smallest movements in the dark
the red shouldered hawk is much like the barred owl except it hunts during the day and will go for a larger variety of animals reaching out from fish to rabbits and even small cats and dogs

Herbivores, Omnivores, and Carnivores????

1) whale-- most whales are carnivore except dolphin and porpoises.
2)sharks-- carnivore
3)penguins-- carnivore
4)polar bears- omnivore
5)crabs--omnivore(A crab eats meat aswell as small waterplants. This would make the animal an omnivore rather than an carnivore. A crab is most defenitely not a herbivore; more likely a carnivore than that.)
6)turtles--they can be herbivore, carnivore or omnivore
7)lobsters--carnivore
8)shrimp---omnivore
9)clownfish---omnivores(They are omnivores. In the wild, they eat the remains of the dead fish that is captured by an anenome. They might do the same in a household tank, but the chances of it happening re very slim. In the aquaria, they have been trained to eat flakes, and most flakes contain meat and veggies, making them omnivores.)
10) porcupine fish---carnivore
11)stone fish--carnivore
12)angle fish--omnivore
13)barnacles---omnivore (barnacles eat plantlike parts of almost invisible swimming animals called phytoplankton and zooplankton)
14)plankton---herbivore or carnivore
15)starfish---carnivore

What are some consumers found in a freshwater biome? What role do they play in such system?

Consumers are at the top of the food web.  Depending on what freshwater habitat you have in mind it could be a fish, and alligator or a copepod.  They all consume other animals further down the web.  Depending on your system, control of the web may be from the top-down or from the bottom-up.  So the number of consumers may either determine the numbers and types of lower trophic level organisms or the number of consumers could be determined by the amount of prey available.  In any case, they are integral parts of the ecosystem.

Which organisms are carnivores?

Any animal that feeds purely on meat i.e. they don't eat any sources of plant food. Some examples of this are:-
- any species of cat like domestic cats, lions, tigers, jaguars, cheetahs, pumas and servals
- king cobra snake
- birds of prey like owls, hawks, eagles and kestrels
- weasel
- mink
- black bear
- bobcat
- piranhas
- sharks
- alligator
- crocodile
- otter
- wild dogs like foxes, wolves, hyenas and coyotes
- octopus

Hope this helps.
