Are Fairy Rings Rare

Are fairy rings rare?

It depends on where fairy rings form and the mushroom species froming them. Some mushrooms frequently make fairy rings, (e.g., Marasmius oreades, Chlorophylum molybdites and Agaricus campestris). Fairy rings are also seen on tended lawns more frequently than in unkept forests. If you examine the fairy ring you will get an idea of how mushrooms grow. You can tell where the mycelium is growing even if there are no fruiting bodies surrounding it. The grass is darker inside the ring which is where the mycelium is growing. The mushrooms, or fruiting bodies, surround it releasing spores. Often mushrooms such as morels produce fruiting bodies when the soil where the mycelium grows is depleted. Not so of a fairy ring. These mushrooms fruit even when they haven't run out of food.

So, fairy rings are not rare. They are more common with some mushroom species than others (e.g., common with Agaricus, uncommon with morels), and are often more common on tended lawns than in the forest.

Why do fairy tales and stories have monarchies but we're taught that democracy is right?

I have been thinking about this for a few years now. Is it just me, or do fairy tales and stories we grow up with (The Lion King, Mulan, King Arthur, Lord of the Rings series) all contain ruling monarchies, such as kings and queens, being positively portrayed? Living in the U.S., I've lost count of how many times I've heard about the wonders of democracy. However, I watched the end of the Lord of the Rings and it turns out that Aragorn became king/ruler and the crowd seemed pretty happy. Is it me or there a huge contradiction here in society?

However, very few of those views could ever match the feeling you can get standing on top of Venezuela’s Mount Roraima. It’s not really the height that gets you. The summit is “only” about 9,000 feet high. It’s the feeling of standing on top of one of the world’s oldest geological formations, dating back to around two billion years ago.Hope you'll like this rare images.

Does anyone know a sweet short "fairy" poem / song that a 4 yr old girl can sing at a concert as a FAIRY!

I used this one for my 7 year old when she was a fairy in a school play! Hope it works well for you too!

Believe in the Fairies...

Believe in the Fairies
Who make dreams come true
Believe in the wonder
The stars and the moon
Believe in the magic
From the Fairies above,
They dance on the flowers
And sing songs of love
And if you just believe
And always stay true
The Fairies will be there
To watch over you.

How good is Lord of the Rings book series by J.R.R. Tolkein?

Perhaps a glimpse into the heaps of praise showered upon it will give you an insight:-1. "Among the greatest works of imaginative fiction of the twentieth century."— Sunday Telegraph2. "An extraordinary work — pure excitement."— New York Times Book Review3. "One of the great fairy-tale quests in modern literature."— Time4. "A remarkable book."— Newsweek5. "One of the very few works of genius in recent literature."— New Republic6. "A work of immense narrative power that can sweep the reader up and hold him enthralled for days and weeks."— The Nation7. "The Lord of the Rings is a narrative of rare imagination, filled with wit, compassion, startling power and lyrical beauty."— Commentary8. "The most original and varied creation ever seen in the genre, and certainly the most self-consistent; yet it is tied up with and bridged to reality like no other fantasy . . . Tolkien has made his world a prodigious, and, so far as I can judge, unshakable construct of the imagination."— Douglass Parker, Hudson Review9. "Tolkien’s stories take place against a background of measureless depth . . . That background is ever-present in the creator’s mind and it gives Frodo and company a three-dimensional reality that is seldom found in this kind of writing."— Washington Post Book World10. "A masterful story — an epic in its own way—with elements of high adventure, suspense, mystery, poetry and fantasy."— Boston Sunday Herald11. "A grim, tragic, brooding and beautiful book, shot through with heroism and hope . . . its power is almost that of mysticism."— Toronto Globe & Mail12. "Here are beauties which pierce like swords or burn like cold iron."— C. S. Lewis13. "The first thing one asks of an adventure story is that the adventure should be various and exciting . . . Tolkien’s invention is unflagging."— W. H. AudenAnd my favorite one:-No imaginary world has been projected which is at once multifarious and so true to its own inner laws...almost endless diversity of scenes and characters - comic, homely, epic, monstrous or diabolic.    - C.S LewisIf you liked the movies then you will love it immensely. Specially since the movies don't do justice to the grandeur of the story in the book.
