Are Liberals Capable Of Living In Today

Why are liberals out of touch with our values?

They want to take their vegan, tofu-eating soymilk-latte drinking, abortion worshiping, baby killing, French loving, immoral, homosexual, New Age, crime-supporting, prisoner coddling, terrorist sympathizing, shaggy haired, body piercing, subversive, flag-burning, country hating, perverted, leftist, secular, socialist freak show and shove it down our throats.

I am sick and tired of the liberals telling me how to live my life. They say I shouldn't eat meat and want to tax/ban it. They say that it's not "politically correct" to pray in public yet it's OK for people to burn the flag. Liberals stand up for the Hollywood and Wall Street elite. I know that Republicans stand up for working people like me. They know that smaller government, free enterprise, and traditional moral values will make America great again. RICK SANTORUM 2012! Are there any pro-life liberals on Quora? What is it like to be a pro-life liberal?

Yeah, I'm pretty darn liberal. I openly hand out liberal lefty application cards on Quora.Among my closest friends is an amazing woman who studied and practiced medicine in Scotland for nearly a decade. She also votes liberal — supported the SNP (and bemoans the romantic yet pathetic Labour Party), hated the gutting of the NHS, thinks the social security net of Singapore is damnably ragged — but will almost never perform an abortion herself on conscientious grounds (unless mother or baby's life is in danger, and likely in the case of abnormalities definitely leading to stillbirth or immediate death upon delivery). She'll refer you to someone who will do it if you really insist, for sure, but she'll try to talk you out of it. If I were a medical professional myself I'd probably do the same. Are we pro-life? I don't know. Boxes don't work for folk like us. We're too Christian to be liberal about it and too Christian to be conservative about it.Yeah, we reckon abortion could be considered murder in some cases. But if we're going to lobby for a theocracy we should also outlaw adultery, other religions (and areligiosity), and cussing at parents. Last I checked no red state was red enough to make that work. We like our democracies secular (particularly coming from one in which Christians are the religious minority, not majority), and in a secular democracy one does not get to outlaw anything on purely religious grounds. But this often puts us in tension with our evangelical Christian circle, which isn't always comfortable.Yet the entire conservative package doesn't make sense to us. The Texan state legislature just passed a law allowing state-funded adoption agencies to discriminate (I'm using wording found in a Christianity Today article no less) between prospective families on the basis of sincerely-held religious beliefs — and that doesn't make sense. So you want to reduce the availability of contraceptives, promulgate proven-less-effective abstinence-only sex ed in schools, tighten the already-small circle of families who want to adopt children — and outlaw abortion? That's why our pro-life beliefs, along with our general Christian outlook on life, have made us fairly liberal.

Is the word liberal applied too generously in today's world?

No, the word “liberal” is not applied too generously. Improperly sometimes, but not too generously. Liberals in today’s political climate are in favor of people, not process. Liberals value individuals, value the varied circumstances of our human condition, and are in favor of elevating even the least capable among us. Is that too generous?Maybe the question is being asked by someone who thinks liberal Americans are of a lesser value than their polar opposites, the conservatives? In my opinion the word “conservative” is applied improperly. Political “conservatives” should be called obstructionists. They are against immigrants, against health care for all, against education for everyone who wants it, against helping the poor, against financial assistance for old people, against decent wages for workers, against protective banking and health regulations… and much more; conservatives have become obstructionists: against everyone except the wealthy rule makers.

Why are younger people more Liberal?

Uneducated.

Haven't lived in the real world yet and don't understand how it works.

I know this because I used to be one of them, until I started working through my 20s and 30s and watched lazy people take my tax money who are perfectly capable of working.

Are there any boarding schools that focus on liberal arts?

I go to a boarding school for music and ballet students, and its amazing. in my case i had to board, since i live in the country and there is no school where i am. But i went to a regular high school for two years, and i much prefer boarding. I live with my closest friends, i've become much more independant and closer to my family, i am much happier, and I'm on straight A's.
so for me, it was a very good idea. It really depends on the person, and what your aims are. If you're looking at going to the same type of school as me (we call them Selective or Specialist schools, its very different to special education!), you have to realise you are surrounded by very talented people, and in a very rigorous, competitive environment, so you will leave with either a passionate love or hatred of drama, depending on whether or not it was the right choice.

I know nothing about American schools sorry, i live in Australia. But boarding school for me was definitely a life change. You need to make sure the school is right for you - changing schools isn't good for your education. I dont know what year a sophomore is, but you dont want to be moving schools in your final years of high school, so if you want to change, do it early.
it really depends on you - are you capable of living away from your family, and being surrounded by strangers not just during the day, but 24/7? Boarding school for most people, is a fantastic experience. However, for some people it just isn't the right choice, and so it needs careful consideration.
good luck, email me if you want any further advice/info/whatever.

Why do liberals hate coal miners?

It’s not so much they hate them, they just don’t care.Coal is a convenient enemy for the green mafia, it’s a big fat target but the fact of the matter is we have a LOT of coal, the United States is basically the Saudi Arabia of coal, and we are shipping it to a lot of places around the world, including Red China.Coal is cheap and plentiful, that’s why about a third of our electricity comes from coal and about 60% of China’s does.If you drive through West Virginia, as I have, it’s fascinating (and a bit disheartening) to travel through coal country. In towns with active coal mines the places are lively with shops open and people around. The towns where the mines have closed are dying. The notion of retraining someone who has spent 20 or 30 years in the mines is silly (to be nice about it). He knows mining, his father and grandfather were probably miners, and most all of the jobs for 100 or more miles around are either mining jobs or dependent on mining.Again, the liberals don’t hate coal miners, they just couldn't’ care less, if they think about them at all they want to see them unemployed so they will feeding at the government trough and more likely to vote for Democrats.
