How does rap influence our society?
I think rap very much influences our society. Kids imitate what they see and hear on t.v. all the time. Rap has had many fads overtime and people copy it such as in the mid 80's rappers were wearing warm up suits and that was the look. In the late 80's was the consience movement and people were really getting concerned about racial issues, police, black on black crime and the drug problems in the ghettos. The early 90's was the dance movement and hip hop busting through the mainstream and rap was becoming mostly party music and the people were getting burned out by concious rap and began having a rebellion attitude towards social issues. The gangsta rap era was a big influence on marijauna usage by kids at an early age, and that was when it started an explosion of rap artists using profanity in their lyrics. The youth was wearing the bandanas, dickies and flannels that they saw the rappers wear on t.v. The influence has continued on to today. The mainstream rappers are only concerned about money, cars, and sex right now and the listeners arent getting the message. They are thinking to be good in life and successful you have to have materialism to get ahead in life, thats a bad message.
Has anyone heard "Take it off" by Ke$ha reversed? Is she sending subliminal messages?
@ Ingrid - You can put one sound (or song) behind another. Even when I edit videos, all you have to do is turn the volume down on one and make the other one louder. Or, even mix the two sounds to get what you want. Maybe you're the one who's gullible. I've actually looked up quite a bit about this. It's not fake. Have you seen the "Josie and the Pussycats" movie? In it, they touched on this subject. - That's not my proof, I'm just pointing it out. You should watch it. :D
