Is it illegal to mod an Xbox (to change the appearance, run homebrews/emus, but not for pirating games)?
Essentially, once you buy the system you are free to do what ever you want to it. That system will be banned from Xbox LIVE the moment it connects to the internet for any reason as you have violated the Xbox LIVE Terms of Service agreement once you start tinkering with the software. Purely cosmetic alterations to the console itself won’t get the system banned but it can void any warranty on it should it physically damage the console.There are plenty of people who really deck out their consoles with LEDs, flashing lights, custom paint jobs, clear case mods, etc. As long as you don’t reverse engineer the system software and sell it as your own you should be fine.

It has been proven that its not illegal, but Sony frowns upon it and is taking measures to detect and ban folks who do it. At this point, its just not worth it.

Hi, I stay in Hyderabad, India, and I want to get my PS3 Slim modded so that i can download and play games for free, from torrent sites. Does anyone know where in Hyderabad, i can get it done, pls answer only if you know. And don't give answers, like its illegal, voids warranty, can't use PSN etc., i don't care, and i had to save money for a year to get the ps3 itself, and its a pain in the *** to get the original games.
