Are my stretched ears infected?
This sometimes happens when you stretch up, especially after a tear. Even once the tear heals, it's vulnerable to opening again no matter how long you wait before stretching again. If they're dry AND red, it sounds like your ears are rejecting the jewelry. The most important thing I can stress is to keep your lobes hydrated. Wash them with soap and water twice a day, and massage them with fragrance-free lotion. If they're still very raw, or seem to be taking a long time to heal, I recommend A&D ointment or bacitracin to help them heal while you have the jewelry in (otherwise it will try to close up). Try and replace your jewelry with stainless steel while it's healing, jewelry made from acrylic or other materials are much more likely to cause infection and irritation. Twist your jewelry while it's in your ear to keep it from sticking to your ear while it's healing, and possibly ripping more skin.
How do i know if my gauged ears are infected?
No your ears arent infected. its just torn due to skipping sizes or gauging too fast such as going from a 2gauge to a 0 then 2 days later going to a 00(this happened to me). just leave it alone for about 1 week. play with it(twist, move back and forth, etc.). if you cant move it freely then wait until you can. and also stick to manufactured gauges(the **** you get from stores like hot topic, spencers, etc.) i use to have an infected ear and it wasnt pretty. i used a sharpie marker to sub as my 00 since i couldnt find anyone who had one and didnt have enough money. When i took out my gauge it had yellow, liquidy puss(redish in a way from the blood) so i let it heal and the whole ear hole turned into a scab. thats an example of an infected ear. NOW! do the following: 1)leave it in for about week. 2)after a week play with it and if it doesnt move freely go by days meaning leave it alone for the rest of that day then the next day try playing with it. doesnt work wait another day and so on until you can move it freely. 3)once you can do that then you can take the gauge out without it bleeding. soak the gauge in rubbing alcohol to get all the puss and blood off of it(if it has white puss then thats normal. yellow=NOT NORMAL! GREEN=DEFINITELY NOT NORMAL!!!!) 4) after you have disinfected it with the alcohol, put it back in and enjoy it! Dont move too fast. wait a week before you go to the next gauge. Dont skip gauges!! they will tear your ears! Another tip if you want to go up sizes faster(this works): use stainless steel metal. theyre good because 1) they dont attract bacteria(hence STAINLESS STEEL) and 2) they play a role in the stretching process by weighing your earlobe down which means your stretching it 2 ways at once. message me if you need some more help, advice, or tips. hope i helped=)
Fake earrings = ears infected?
you actually may be allergic to the type of metals in the earrings. a lot of people can only wear earrings that say are sterling silver or that are just gold or white gold. you may want to try wearing a different type of earring. but wearing fake earring on top of a pierced ear can cause problems if you are already allergic to the type of metal the jewelry is made of. it will trap that bacteria in the ear making it puffy, sore, and even leak through the pierced hole. the best thing to do is if you have pierced ears then don't wear fake ones to avoid irritation to the skin. if you still choose to then try different types of jewelry first.

did you get them pierced with a gun or a needle? If you got them pierced with a gun, which can't be sterilized, then you are probably having a reaction to the jewelry that you got pierced with, so I would switch out the jewelry to something that is nickel-free If you got pierced with a needle you might still be having an allergic reaction to the jewelry if it is cheap stainless. Keep it as clean as you can and go consult a doctor as soon as possible. Please don't wait for the infected piercing to get better because chances are, it wwontamd will instead cause you a lot (I know of people who have had to undergo surgery for this).

i have had my ears pierced for 4 yrs and i only wear my earrings when i go out on the weekends but sometimes my ears get infected and sometimes they dont i wear real earrings and fake and they keep getting infected how do i cure that so it wont keep coming back please help me and what should i use to clean them? i have been told that poroxide an alcohol just dry them out??
Are my stretched ears infected or just very raw?
I stretched to a 0 2-3 days ago, both went in fine with some pain. However, I had tried slipping in a plug into my left ear multiple times with no avail, and it probably caused the lobe to tear more. 2-3 days later that lobe is swollen, not very red on the outside, however I took it out today and it's very red and raw on the inside. There was a little bit of yellow/white puss on the outside. I stuck a q-tip in there to clean it with anti-bacterial soap and there was blood. It wasn't oozing or anything, just very raw and a bit bloody on the inside. I'm not sure if it's infected or just very raw and irritated from me trying to put that plug in straight away. If it's not infected, should I keep taking it out and cleaning it or just let it heal?
