Are Roommates Allowed To Be Loud And Annoying

Loud and Annoying Roommate?

Since you say you're "just about ready to stand up for yourself," you may want to take the advice of sucking it up & using headphones, ear plugs, etc. & let it ride....

Until you feel you and your needs and opinions are just as valid as anyone else's, your brand of 'confrontation' will probably lack the punch it needs to work.

Maybe try expressing your opinions and needs a little at time until you build your confidence in yourself - when something big comes along, you'll be able to feel good about sticking up for yourself.

It's really not about being passive - it's about feeling good about yourself versus others.

What are some of the most annoying habits of your roommate?

Slamming doors. Especially when I'm sleeping.Talking loudly over phone, when others are sleeping (and even when they aren't, when we're having balcony specifically for that purpose)Using my things, without even asking me, and rearranging them. Doesn't even thank. I've started locking all of my stuff (iron box, mirror, even my waterbottle) into my almirah!Asks to turn off the AC whenever I turn it ON because sometimes it gets damn hot inside the room (because, electricity bills!)He pushes off my bed everytime he reaches for his bed. I don't know why.Asks me to lower down the volume of my speaker because he uses drum-based earphones and says that he can't focus on the videos he's watching (with earphones on), and that my speakers are causing the trouble. Mind you, my laptop sucks when it comes to speakers. The max volume is like, putting your volume panel on 40–50%.Is interested in knowing what I'm doing on my laptop. Everytime.…and lots more!

My Chinese roommate annoys the crap out of me.?

I really dont want this to come across as racist, but my Chinese roommate is annoying the crap out of me lately. He talks soooo loud in Chinese, and will only talk in Chinese even in a group with non-Chinese speakers (this bugs me the most). He constantly smacks his lips and belches while he eats. He carries on loud Chinese conversations while I'm trying to watch tv. He leaves our apartment a complete mess. He doesn't have a drivers license or insurance yet drives a car around and asks me for advice when he hits someone. He basically has no interest in assimilating into American culture as all of his friends are other Chinese immigrants. I've lived in Asia previously and was aware of a lot of these common habits before I moved in with him, but he's really starting to bug the **** out of me. What do I do?

If my roommate & her friends are being too loud, can I call the cops on her?

yes you could, peace disturbance is after all peace disturbance. however before you do so consider the repercussions of that action.

you will still have to live with her for a while until one of you finds another place. do you think that after you call the police she will be more or less difficult a roomie?

and making the call anonymous may or may not divert her suspicions as to you being the source of the call.

My roommate is loud at night?

I'm a college freshman and my roommate always stay up late studying. She occasionally calls her sister/boyfriend on Skype while I'm trying to sleep. The thing that bothers me is that she talks really, really loud like there's no one in the room. I really don't want to know how long it has been since she last had sex and whatnot. And this goes on for at least an hour and a half around 1 am. I have morning classes so I always try to finish my hw early so I don't have to stay up too late but because of her, I end up not being able to sleep.

Otherwise, she's a nice person to room with so I don't want to mess up our relationship. She doesn't drink in the room or bring her boyfriend over without asking me. So how can I politely tell her how I feel?

How do I handle a roommate who is always loud and noisy and I cannot concentrate on my studies?

I live in a house with two roommates and it's the loudest place I've ever lived. Both are gamers, one speaks on the phone at all hours of the night, one listens to loud music, one listens and SINGS to loud music. In addition, I'm hypersentive to many sensory issues, including sounds/noises, and I have helicopters overhead because we are on the flight path (1 mi away) from two hospitals, the person mows the lawn under my window, there are dogs in every apartment, and I can hear the hum of lights, the bass of conversations in other buildings, and an alarm vibrating from a phone in another apartment.Sound deafening earphones work "sometimes," but they also make the slightest noises sound 'louder' which further disrupts my thoughts. When stuff gets very overwhelming, I tend to go outside and sit on the stairs (which is actually quieter), or I'll take a walk and set up my computer at a quiet coffee shop. Also, there are some medications available if you are simply hypersensitive to sound, but when you are living with a roommate, even though it's incredibly annoying, 'noise' is one of the smallest problems you can have. Try picking up some earplugs at the drugstore, or wearing headphones, or finding a quiet place in the building (like on the stairs) ....Or, make some sort of arrangement that between the hours of ____ and _____ you get quiet time to study. If you are asking for extraordinary amounts of time, or unrealistic quietness, that can be difficult.

Why do i get soooo annoyed by my roommates laugh??

My roommate has this very annoying laugh that everytime i hear i just want to shoot her. no joke = / its kinda scary actually. i cant stand it. Its like nails down a chalkboard. Why do i get sooo annoyed by her laugh? but i dont remember anyone else saying she has an annoying laugh.. and no im not jealous of her (trust me im not)im not trying to be mean or anything but i dont know what to do to calm myself downwhen i hear it cuz she always laughs like that and itsssss soooo loud i coud have loud music on in my room and she could be downstairs watching tv and i could still hear it when shes talkin on the phone or chatting with a friend downstairs

How do I destroy my roommate's loud speakers?

Make sure, he has VLC. Download any high pitched song.Twist the speaker dials at their max. Turn the computer volume to max. Play the song using VLC at 200% volume ( or higher if possible).Do this for 10-15 minutes and try different songs if needed. Soon enough the speaker sound will start cracking. So, if your roomie tries playing a song at higher volume, he will not like the quality and turn the volume down.PS: Obviously, do this when your roomie is not in the room. Let me know if this works.
