Are The College Students Happy They Voted For Obama

Liberals were happy 4 years ago when Obama won the EC vote. But now they are upset that Trump won the EC vote. Is that hypocritical and partisan?

It was a non issue in that Obama won the popular and electoral vote. But for the more observant, the electoral vote exaggerated the margins he won by. Romney was the victim here. Obama could have lost the popular vote and still won the electoral vote.Obama in 2012 won the popular vote by 3.9%. And yet his electoral vote win was 332 to 206. There’s a huge distortion by the electoral college there. It should have rang alarm bells for RepublicansA neutral observer would look at the results of more recent elections as well as trends and they would notice that the EC winner takes all system will work against Republicans after a few more cycles. Democrats are willing to adopt a popular vote under the inter state compact but once they notice they keep winning under the current system they will probably withdraw support.Competitive elections are good for everyone. Elections where your party win the seats due to advantage in the system are actually not good for you since your politicians will have little fear of being voted out and there is no real competition to vie for your vote.So this partisan back and forth is masking the real issue.

What made young voters vote for president obama?

I know obama made a huge impact for young adults to start voting but how did he affected or caused young people to vote?

*websites would be good for additional information:)
thanks

Why did you vote for Obama?

Whenever I ask a Democrat why they voted for Obama, they can't come up with an answer. The only thing they seem to say is, "I'm hungry for change." Do you people realize what you have done? People voted for Obama because they don't like Bush. So, they voted the exact opposite of him--Democrat. BUt, do you know that the exact opposite is? Of course not, you just don't want another Bush. Who said that McCain is "just like Bush?" He isn't! So, America, I really hope you do realize what you have done. Please tell me why you voted for Obama, so I can see why and you're not just "hungry for change."

Were students and protesters at Middlebury College justified in disrupting Charles Murray's talk?

Speaking as a Democrat who voted for Obama twice and Clinton last November, the left wing mobs that routinely prevent right wing speakers from speaking on college campuses might as well all be wearing one of these:Peaceful pickets, fine. Suppressing opposing views, not fine. It is in fact fascism to do so. All the stuff about it being “hate speech” is intellectually vapid…self indulgent. And a sign of not believing one’s own ideas can win on a level playing field.Colleges shouldn’t be “safe spaces.” They should be like aircraft carriers, preparing you to launch into life, ready for everything you’re likely encounter.Think that’s too warlike a metaphor? Deal with it. For your entire life the oligarchs and their patsies and stooges will be either trying to capture the government or, after capturing it, using it to exercise unrighteous dominion over you and yours and everything you hold dear. They will never stop trying. Never. But pick your battles. Never let the opponent pick the time and place. Trump is adroit at doing that, and every right winger prevented from speaking on any American campus helps Trump’s re-election. Preventing them from speaking becomes a meme across the right wing mediasphere, providing endless inspiration to their voters’ sense of aggrievance. As President Obama said, more or less, “Don’t do stupid things. Do smart things.” Instead of mobbing speakers, learn the issues and how to discuss them substantively and respectfully with others. Work on get out the vote/registration drives. Help elect state representatives and governors and Congressmen, not just the Prez every 4 years. You’ll be a lot happier in the long run.

If you DON'T vote for Obama, you're a RACIST! ! !?

Seriously - Am I the ONLY one sick of hearing that crap from Obama supporters? Here's how a typical conversation with an Obama supporter goes.

Average person - "I don't think Im going to vote for Obama this election....I don't really agree with his views."

Obama supporter - "YOU'RE A RACIST!!!!!!"

Obama supporters, does it ever occur to you that maybe we disagree with his views, and that his race has absolutely nothing to do with our votes?

Frankly, I think voting for him just because he's black is racist.

Okay...Now go ahead and call me a racist and an idiot because I'm not going to vote for the man. :)

Do cons think people only voted for Obama because of racism, free stuff, or minority status?

@ Icoulater: You've fallen for the same trick as so many other Americans.

Step 1: Coin a term or phrase (I.e. War on women!... Redistribute the wealth... Ineptocracy)

Step 2: Give it a catchy definition

Step 3: Watch pseudo-intellectuals trip over each other in their attempt to appear intelligent by repeating your buzzword.

Beware of catchy slogans

How many people who fled the US when Obama was elected will be returning soon?

I don't know that anyone fled. No American would ever flee his or her country if they loved her. They would stick around and do their best to help her mend. And if any did flee, they should stay gone. They don't care enough for their country to stand beside her, through thick and thin.I just think of what my Dad, a 4th Marine Division forward observer, who fought in tropical paradises like, Saipan, and Tinian, Kwajalein, and Iwo Jima , all in 15 months when he was 22 years old. People leaving because of an election result. I don't think he'd be very pleased with the sons and daughters, grandsons and granddaughters of men like him, who fought and died for this country, running away at the POSSIBILITY of a rough spot. And as a veteran, running away does not suit my temperment either.

Is my student senate campaign essay good?

I, _______, would like to run for the position of the Student Senate Secretary for the 2011-2012 term. If elected into this position, rest assured that your voice, be it soft or loud, will always be heard. In my experience in Student Council all through grade and high school, I have learned that in order to make everyone happy, it’s important to take into account all the different perspectives and realities people may have on an issue, which is what I am passionate about. As a Sociology major, and a very open minded and approachable individual, I am confident that I am able to understand and consider all the different types and pairs of shoes that walk among this campus, and take that into consideration when voicing my opinion for them. As far as secretarial duties are concerned, I am very diligent, organized and responsible, and my duties to my position would become my priority; every minute and discussion would be accounted for. Regarding my vote during meetings, I am a strong believer in fundraisers and cutting the costs of students’ experiences here at Sierra College in whatever manner we are able to. Thank you for your time.

Do you resent Trump voters?

Let me say this, I both resent and do not resent Trump voters. I do not resent Trump voters because they successfully voted against the candidates that represent the republican warhawk corporatists establishment (in theory). I resent Trump voters, as I resent many Obama voters, for voting for individuals who do not have any interest in prioritizing the issues the majority of us face and not calling him out for it (such as for Libya, Syria, or giving a environmental speech in morning then opening up Artitc drilling in afternoon, penalizing whistleblowers, I can go on all day).More than resenting Trump voters, I resent our public political polarization that only serves to permanently distract us from dismantling our corrupt government system while preventing us from working together for a country that is beneficial to all.I am starting to see a trend with current Presidents and ways identity politics interfere with discourse. With Obama, you had the conservative base happy to simply call Obama a socialist and a fascist without a real discussion of his actual actions. With Trump, the Democratic base is calling him the worst President ever and a puppet of Putin, without any discussion of the actual policies he is pushing for. Put aside the identity politics, and forget about Twitter posts, you will see that policies and reforms that are being currently enacted are trends that have continued regardless of who is President. For example, Obama was pushing the Trans Pacific Partnership but failed, thankfully. Trump was adamantly opposed to the TPP, so he said. At this time, Trump is actually re-negotiating the NAFTA agreement and establishing provisions to it which will make it almost indistinguishable from the TPP. https://www.thenation.com/articl... This will get swept under the rug as Democrats continue with their McCarthyism 2.0. Just like it almost got swept under rug as Obama was being called a socialist and congress was being obstructionists.Do I resent Trump voters? My answer is I resent anyone who votes for an individual and refuses to criticize them when they do wrong. I resent people who prioritize identity politics and refuse to acknowledge our government system increasingly fails to act “for us, by us”.
