How common is it for a woman to intentionally get pregnant to trap a man? Do you know anyone this has happened to?
Some of the people who have answered this are incredibly naive.YES, it actually happens, it happened to me. It’s a sleazy story in many ways that I won’t get into… Suffice it to say I had sex a couple of times with a girl that I was not particularly attracted to. It was a quid pro quo arrangement. My severely handicapped friend wanted any sex he could get. She wanted - well… me. So my friend got laid - as long as I let her have what she wanted.I was also world record breaking stupid, and did not wear a condom. I believed her when she said she was “on the pill”. This was before AIDS was a big thing - but I was still off the charts brain-dead moronic. When she told me she was pregnant, I offered to pay for an abortion. In fact, I set it up, made the appointment, was going to drive her there, etc… No go.Turns out (her best friend told me later) she had planned it from the start. Wanted a kid, wanted me to be the dad. She hoped I would marry her, but she was ok/resigned to it if I didn’t. Essentially, she was planning on raising kids on welfare - just like her mom raised her. And she did. At least 3 others, besides mine.Long (ugly!) story short, I paid child support - until the State (in the USA - but I won’t say which one) started automatically garnishing the paycheck of any father of a child on welfare. I was never late, nor did I ever fail to pay. She simply got tired of working, went on welfare - and my paycheck got garnished. This does not look good to employers, trust me! Makes it much harder to get a new job - or keep the one you have!She also played several dirty tricks… took her other children (from other fathers) to the doctor and claimed it was my child, which charged it to the insurance I was required to maintain for my child… Lots of other nasty crap that I won’t go into.The worst part by far… I involuntarily had a child - that I did NOT want. I had no choice, no voice. I didn’t mind paying support. I considered that my legitimate responsibility - still do. Not that it was easy! Child support took FAR more than it cost me to raise the 2 kids I had with my wife.No… What bothers me is that there is a person in this world who did not have a father, because I refused to marry the bitch that planned this shit. That person resents and hates me - with good reason!But as much as I have thought about this - for more than 3 decades - the only thing I can think of that I really did wrong is believe her lies, and fail to wear a condom.
