How will the Detroit Pistons do?
All these people need to relax. The pistons will do just fine. yes, their record probably won't be the same as it was last year, but hey, now they can get offense from EVERYONE on the floor and have good free throw shooting from EVERYONE. Mohammed can block shots and rebound, and besides, we don't need an all-star center, we got others - Billups, Hamilton, and the developing Prince, who continually keeps getting better. Prince was the go-to-guy in much of the playoffs. Ben didn't do well in the playoffs anyway, he just hurt us- he didn't play that good of defense and his free throws hurt us. He obviously didn't want to stay with the pistons, so he'll regret his decision after watching the Pistons hoist the NBA finals trophy on T.V. next year.

Is there any way the detroit loins can at least make the playoffs?
In order for Detroit to get to the playoffs...they need to show up to games...That has been a horrible franchise as you pointed out quite well. They have a VERY slim shot of taking the NFC North...an wild card wise...Washington, Dallas, New York, Carolina, Tampa, Seattle, and possible Arizona and St Louis are all pretty strong favorites for division titles and wild cards spots..leaving even some of them to not make the playoffs...teams that can't be underestimated in the NFC would include Green Bay...they showed two sides of themselves in the past two games...then New Orleans, if their defense can actually show up, they have the weapons on offense to win a few more games than normal. So sorry if you're a Detroit fan, you wont be watching them play in January.

Personally, I can say that the Detroit Pistons are a dark horse playoff team come next season with Dwane Casey as their head coach and a full training camp with Blake Griffin being integrated into the system.They still have their All-Star center Andre Drummond and a solid starting point guard in Reggie Jackson.Their young guns in Stanley Johnson and Luke Kennard are full of potential.Credits to the owner of the above image.Their bench needs some retooling but they do have some solid players like Reggie Bullock, Langston Galloway, and Jon Leuer.

The Pistons got the second pick, they already had Wallace, Hamilton, Prince, Billups. Pistons went on to win the 04' championship. Do you think they could have done back 2 back with Lebron? Also, Mr. James would have had a ring by then, and he Detroit would have been the amazing basketball city it always was. Could have been one of the best defensive teams of all time.
